Must do item and this is the way to do it!
We were so pleased with Santi and his excellent guide skills. His knowledge made our 3 hour private tour engaging and wonderful. Although there are many people, especially on a jubilee year, Santi was skillful at getting us past crowds and to the most important pieces and places and we never waited in any lines whatsoever. He also curated our tour to our individual interests. Our tour consisted of our guide, myself and my son. What a perfectly delightful day. Highly recommend! Well worth the cost.

    Private tour
Special shoutout to Santi! We would have been so lost without him. We went in December so it wasn’t as crowded compared to high peak season crowds in spring or summer but in my opinion I still felt it was a bit crowded. This is where Santi stepped in by helping us maneuver through the crowds to see the key pieces that were timeless. He also introduced some many history behind each sculpture and painting we saw. Truly an unforgettable experience thanks to Santi.

    Just okay
It was okay, felt rushed. It was nice to have someone point out things but definitely won’t be doing a private tour again, rather do audio by myself

    Perfect private tour for couple
My wife and I booked this private tour and I highly recommend this tour if you (a) are a couple particularly that loves art, (b) want to skip all the lines and headaches of knowing where to go and how to do it, and (c) want to experience the Vatican from a unique perspective. Our guide, Jada, was an excellent guide and very knowledgeable (art history education / artist) on the art and the overall workings of the Vatican and history.

The best private tour with Santé!
We had a private tour with Santé and it was worth every penny. He is the best! He knows his way around, and is super friendly and knowledgeable. He listened to what we wanted to see and led us accordingly. We skipped almost all the lines, so spent little to no time waiting. Highly recommend!!

    Amazing Vatican Tour
We booked the group tour but upon arrival were pleasantly surprised to have Roberto all to ourselves for a tour of the Vatican! He was a WIZARD at getting us through long lines and gave us incredible insight into the stories, sculptures, art, architecture, and history of every area of the Vatican grounds. We had such an incredible morning with him & truly won’t forget it. Highly recommend Made in Rome Tours!

    Great guide !
What an amazing trip. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the Vatican. He was very professional and kept things at a good pace. They recommended we buy a bottle of water before the tour and that was very much needed as there is no vending in the Vatican.

    ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL
This trip was AMAZING! It was blazing hot but that was expected, other than that it was wonderful. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and the places were unbelievable. My husband and I went with our two boys (19 and 20) and they enjoyed it immensely as well. Would definitely do again!

Great experience with an especially great tour guide. Andrea was very knowledgeable and gave us detail information about all the hot topics. I didn’t think his dad jokes were that bad either. Lol!

Skip the line was a very wise choice, it ensured that we started the day without having to wait in the very long queues outside the museum. However, this tour was sold as a 3 hour tour taking you through the museums and leaving you at the Basilica to tour on your own, however I would say I spent 3 hours in total, I had thought I would have more time with the guide in the museum. Whilst very informative and pleasant to be around, we went on a busy day and felt rushed with no time for photography. I would recommend more time in the museum before the drop off at St Peters but I would definitely recommend the staff as very knowledgeable and friendly.

23rd December 2024.
Very knowledgeable guide, the VC was very busy so a lot of tour time was lost wading through the busy crowds.
We only had about 90 mins inside which wasn't enough time though yes you can spend years looking at everything but a little more time would have been nice.
The bluetooth ear communication was ok but you need to be close to the guide otherwise the signal is lost.
Go there when it's not peak holidays. Nice to skip the massive queue outside though we were in a queue of guided tours, it was only for about 15 mins but this is paid waiting time.

Our guide was really great, Andrea was constantly putting us into the shade and reminding us to drink water, he was attentive and was always asking if we were ok in the heat, this was great as it was 35 degrees while we were here and on tour!
The tour was great, worth the money even if just to skip the huge line to see St Peter’s, but more than that the knowledge the tour guide had was wonderful, he was very passionate teaching us about the Sistine chapel prior to entry as well as taking us through the Vatican museum and to St Peter’s and being just as diligent there.
We were lucky to have a tour guide who cared as much as Andrea did about our well being as other tour guides had their groups out in the direct sunlight while reading about the art outside and Michael Angelo.

I would caution anyone booking a tour in the height of summer to think again, as much as we loved it it was a big struggle for us, the heat is awful inside as well as outside, people have been known to faint before. we lost two people from our group before the tour commenced inside the Vatican as the 5 minute walk was too much for them, then we lost another 2 within 10 minutes of the tour inside, and another one fell away about 1.5 hours in. Throughout all of this Andrea remained professional, patient and diligent.

You really get a good tour of the Sistine Chapel, the rooms leading up to the Sistine chapel (Laocoön, Pinecone courtyard, Tapesty hall, maps room) and St. Peter’s Basilica. You skip by most of the Vatican Museum historical and Egyptian collection which is a shame. The tour guide was very informative, well educated, kind, and did a good job keeping a large group (20) together is a very crowded space. We really wasted an hour and a half because we were told to arrive 1/2 hour early (which we did) then had to wait for members of the group to buy pashminas, water, told 20 times to not loose tickets, wait for headsets and a mandatory group bathroom break. In retrospect it would have been way better to buy tickets in advance and buy the audio guide and go at your own speed.

I'm really glad I booked this tour for our family of 5. I was planning on just showing up and waiting on the lines to get into the basilica, the Vatican museum and the Sistine chapel but I was having dinner the night before and a family suggested I get tickets online because the wait was brutal in the summer months. So glad I did!! We by passed hundreds on line for the Vatican museum. Simply walked through security w our guide and inside. The guide provided us with earphones so we could hear her through all the noise and we sashayed through the museum as she explained some of the more notable works. Similarly we cut through one part of the museum and entered the Sistine chapel, no waiting. We stopped several times to get a good view of different areas on the Sistine chapel. Finally, the tour guide escorted us past thousands of people to enter the basilica where once inside we had all the time we wanted to roam about or take pictures. A huge time saver! We were done within 2.5-3 hours and spent the rest of the afternoon shopping nearby. After that, we left the area and caught dinner in a completely different part of town. It was a little pricey purchasing it 11 hours prior to the tour starting but well worth the time savings

My impression is that doing the Vatican sights outside of an authorized group tour requires a lot more waiting, not to mention knowledge and logistics. The lines, in fact, for the non-tour people were scarily long, and the number of people in general around these sights was always large (and this was September, so I assume it would be even worse in June or July). You still have to wait in some lines, for security for example, or just because there are 1000 people in front of you looking at the same stuff you want to see. But lines and waiting are minimized, all the tickets are purchased for you, there's no guess work about where you're supposed to go (which didn't always seem entirely easy), and so on. I should also mention that we did have enough time at each location (it wasn't clear to me what the exact timing would be beforehand, but these tour groups do, in fact, know what they're doing). Also, our tour guide was friendly and gave good information on content. This was definitely worth the price for minimizing hassles, and having some help navigating and understanding the sights.

Our guide Marcus was excellent, process to meet us easy and skipping a 2 hour wait was wonderful. Once inside there is an incredible amount to see and Marcus stopped at and explained the history of key pieces and background stories that you simply would not get on a self guided tour. We paid extra to walk up to the Dome and it was an incredible view across Rome at sunset from the Vatican City.

The meeting place is a little difficult to find but once we were there everything went really well. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and kept her commentary light and informative. Booking a guide was the only way to see these impressive buildings so that you get the back stories and detailed information. I would have liked more time in the Vatican Museums but it gives me an excuse to go back. We decided to do the 8am tour and would recommend this as a start time as it's less busy and so you can actually get close to the exhibits, also there were only 6 of us in the group so it felt very personal.
We also paid extra to go to the top of the Basilica - its well worth the 10 Euros but you have to be fairly fit to get to the top.

1. This tour is 90 minutes long with 30 minutes of walking to the entrance of the Vatican Museum.
2. We did not enter at St Peter’s Square as advertised.
3. You still have a line to stand in, despite being marketed as a “guaranteed skip the line” tour.
4. The tour guide had a monotoned voice making the tour very boring.
5. The guide did not come with us to St Peter’s Basilica and the tour ended after the Sistine Chapel.
6. The itinerary was not followed.

This tour is a complete waste of money and I would not recommend it at €200 per person.

Didn't rate this.

Hugely expensive.

You in theory skip the queue but they ask you to be there 20 minutes early (no need, they don't do anything until the alloted time) and don't leave the meeting point until 10-15 mins after and then have a 10-15 min walk to the actual museum before faffing round with thousands of others at the entrance so it is a good hour before you are in.

The tour excluded both the pinoteca and the Raphael rooms - two highlights.

And the most time we spent anywhere was looking at plaques of the Sistine chapel in a courtyard as they don't let guides talk in there.

Don't get me wrong: the museum is incredible and it is nice to skip the queue. And our guide was nice. But I rather wish we had just got organised earlier and bought skip the queue tickets directly..
