About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Ruth C0 contributionsAmazing tour a must!Guia Grandi was an amazing guide. Her knowledge was unbelievable! She answered everyone’s questions. Highly recommend this tour and Guia as guide.Written 9 October 2024
- Mary Frances S0 contributionsNice but.....The art was wonderful. The guide was terrific. However I thought there would have been more time in the various areas. St. Peter's was the best part as we could spend as much time as we desired. Wasn't worth the 'extra'cost for the extra early morning tour. The amount of tours & people was overwhelming at times considering the extra early morning time. Should have done a self guided tour with audio guide.Written 9 October 2024
- lynetteg3790 contributionsCrowds were awfulWas surprised at how many visitors were admitted to the early morning tour. The place was packed. It was difficult to keep up at times with our tour guide as she moved so fast not considering the pace of everyone - she just seemed in a hurry to get us through bWritten 8 October 2024
- SunsweptRambler0 contributionsForum/Colosseum tourThe tour was...fine. It started off oddly, as our entire tour was at the meeting place and there was a guide there, but not OUR guide. We were told she was on the way. She showed up, and a guy (from a different tour company) appeared to hand both groups earpieces and little receivers. They are a great idea, but in practice mostly encourage the guide to speak lower because they are mic'd, and the mics pick up a lot of ambient and crowd noise. Because there's only one earpiece, you get more white noise channeled into your ear than the guide's lecture. Several people decided not to use them. To be fair, this was an issue with every tour I took. The tech just isn't there yet for outdoor tours. No one had a sign for Through Eternity Tours, but off both groups went to the Forum across the street. There were maybe 12-14 people in our group which was perfectly fine. We breezed through security (your US driver's license is enough as ID. Passports were not needed). Our guide was pleasant, she seemed to know her stuff, and she threw a few dad jokes in to the tour to lighten it up. I give every guide credit, because everyday the site is just a sea of humanity that you have to usher your small group through. I love history and learning about other cultures, and that's why I (and I imagine most people) signed up for the tour. I left disappointed that I didn't feel much wiser at the end of the tour than when it started. The Forum is such an odd conglomerate of ancient artifacts all clumped together with vast spans in time between them, and yes, we'd go to an area, she'd tell us what it was and a bit of it's history, maybe an anecdote, and then we'd move on to the next area, which might be 500-1,000 years older or younger, and we'd hear the same bits about it, and so on. It was frustrating that there didn't seem to be much of a through line or a story connecting all the different areas (besides, yes obviously, scenes from the Roman Empire). I didn't have any idea if the arch we saw 20 minutes ago was related to the columns we're staring at now, and if so, why there was a temple built between them 400 years later. It all felt very much like we were reviewing history for a final exam, rather than learning it for the first time. There was a whole issue with a bathroom break suggested by the guide that took much longer than expected through no one on the tour (nor the guide's) fault. I will just say: plan to go before the tour. Getting into the Colosseum through security was also pretty easy. We were first led to what I later realized was the "Gladiator Arena Floor" area, a section not everyone had access to, and I was briefly stopped by security even though I had the same earpiece as the rest of the group and was walking with them. It is NOT the arena floor, however. It's a platform built over about a third of the arena floor that makes it a little easier to see down into the lower levels, and later on the tour you walk at exactly the same level on the other side of the arena, which any general admission can do, albeit with an ancient stone wall at about waist height between you. I wouldn't say this was a rip off because it turns out that's what the Colosseum calls the space, but it was a misleading disappointment. It sure seemed like we were going to walk where the Gladiators battled, and that's not what happened. We never got below street level. The rest of the tour was basically being lead through the museum exhibits with the rest of the public. We did pause (with the option to sit) under a covered area and learn a little more about the life of gladiators in society, which I appreciated. Shortly thereafter the guide parted with us, but informed us we could go back the way we came to stay/explore longer (or go to the gift shop). I found it odd that on this and every tour I took, (even with other companies), the guide constantly referenced well worn old picture books, sometimes with illustrations as small as your hand, or actively googled something on their phone to show the tour. It's 2024. You've already given us personal ear pieces. Putting together a simple slideshow on a tablet that you can flip through would seem to be much easier (and lighter) than flipping through an old text book, or hoping you can get a signal under a stone arch and waiting for a page to load, and certainly easier for the group to see. So: was the tour guide nice? Yes. Did she know her stuff? Seemed to. I will also say she was very open to questions and did her best to answer them, though our group didn't have many, so that's a valuable asset. And the express security entrance was MUCH better than the regular ones, which had huge lines. I just wish there was more effort put into storytelling than simply rote information recall.Written 7 October 2024
- Pathfinder7945350 contributionsAnother wonderful Vatican tourOur tour was so enjoyable, crowded--but alas, Rome. My husband and I have done the Vatican before, but we still learned some new things! Sadly, due to Jubilee next year, much of St. Peter's was under construction --Pieta's glass was being replaced so she was behind a wall and the main alter was behind a curtain BUT still a beautiful visit. Definitely choose the morning! Good pacing, knowledgeable guides!Written 7 October 2024
- Z533UAerics0 contributionsSuper Tour of Colosseum and Roman ForumWe had a great Ultimate Colosseum Tour with Roman Forum & Palatine Hill with our guide Francesca Delle Cave. She was extremely knowledgeable and was able to bring the history of these Rome locations to life, allowing us to understand how the culture and geography of the area changed over more than two thousand years. We highly recommend this tour for others.Written 7 October 2024
- Z533UAerics0 contributionsGreat Twilight Tour in RomeWe really enjoyed our Rome at Twilight Among the Piazzas and Fountains: Evening Walking Tour with our guide Renata Kosenko. She filled in at the last minute for another guide and did a great job of guiding us through the sights in central Rome. Renate was very knowledgeable and personable making it a great tour.Written 7 October 2024
- H9473LDjohnm0 contributionsBroke my ankle and Through Eternity broke my spirit.Broke my ankle one week before trip. I called 7 days before trip to see if they can accommodate knee scooter. Answer was no but I could upgrade to private tour. Called back the next day to cancel but was told it is 6 days before the tour so no refund. Seriously. Broke my ankle and no longer eligible for the tour - scooter not permitted on group tours. So I had to eat $400+. Thanks "Through Eternity" to adding to my stress. LAME.Written 7 October 2024
- pattim8500 contributionsGreat tour overall but a tip on the Colosseum portion!Overall the experience was wonderful. I learned so much more than I would have visiting the sites on my own. Vincent was engaging and knowledgeable. The only downside was feeling very rushed through the Colosseum. I understand there is so much to see it is impossible to cover everything, but I was surprised to only spend a very brief minute at the upper level for photos. Vincent took us primarily to view from the first level in the exit area, which was great on one hand as it was far less crowded, but he said that I could tell the guards I needed to go to the bathroom and I would be able to then go back through the one way system of walking around the whole upper level. This may have been true at one point but it is no longer the case. No one would let me back in and that was disappointing being probably a once in a lifetime opportunity to visit the Colosseum. Please be sure your guides are aware of this as I may not have followed into the exit area if I had known beforehand. Otherwise it truly was a wonderful morning!Written 7 October 2024
- G7156XLrichardp0 contributionsRome at TwighlightFederico was very pleasant, knowledgeable, and informative. At times it was difficult to hear (the audio unit provided was poor quality). Despite not being able to hear clearly, the sights were amazing.Written 7 October 2024

- davidmZ3476IM0 contributionsCancelled TourMy wife and I recently booked a hi-price, small group Colosseum tour with Through Eternity Tours based on a Rick Steves recommendation which we thought would guarantee a quality experience. Wrong. The day before our Confirmed Tour Booking we received an email cancelling our tour due a booking glitch. We scrambled to find an alternative however at this late stage the Colosseum was fully sold out for that day. Our schedule didn’t allow rebooking for a different day. A once in a lifetime opportunity lost. Totally unacceptable, shocking. We are very upset and wonder how a company can do business in this fashion. We note that from online Google reviews three other travellers were let down in similar fashion, two both 3 months ago, and one a year ago. Similar to these unhappy customers, we recommend booking with a different tour company. If you do book with Eternity Tours then you run the risk of last minute cancellation.Written 6 October 2024
- francoisemU9341ZF0 contributionsVatican/StPeter Basilica discoveryGuide was great and extremely knowledgeable. Very commendable to be able to keep our interest non stop for almost 3 hours while navigating the sea of other tourists throughout and always finding the right spot to show us a special place or artifact. Regretted the dome visit wasn’t included, I hadn’t checked enough so my fault but would have been great to be able to finish with it.Written 6 October 2024
- Tripp40450 contributionsDisappointing!Very disappointing tour since we previously had tickets to the domuas aurea, which they cancelled a week prior to our visit and offered this tour as an alternative. Definitely not a good exchange.Written 6 October 2024

Even if you have visited Rome before (as we have) this is a this fantastic tour. Magical at night, being driven from one spectacular illuminated site to the next. Our tour guide was very, very knowledgeable, personable and funny too. I would highly recommend all to take this tour on their first night in Rome as you may return to many of the sites during the day and you will with knowledge and appreciation.
