About
Enjoy your private trip from Rome with your English speaking driver to Sulmona, the town of confetti! Thanks to a long tradition and the presence of quality raw materials (mainly almonds), the town situated in the Valle Peligna is considered one of the major producers of this delicacy widely used during celebrations such as weddings, christenings, birthdays etc. Sulmona is definitely one of those centers in Abruzzo fascinating for its architecture and the atmosphere you breathe. The best thing is to walk by sneaking in the side streets, peeking through the courtyards, stopping to admire the ancient buildings, enjoying that feeling of being in a timeless place. Continue to Pacentro, a tiny medieval village famous to gave birth to the grandparents of the singer Madonna, to the paternal ones of Mike Pompeo, American secretary of state under the presidency of Donald Trump, and to many Italian emigrants to the US. A stop for lunch is included during the day ( fees at your own expense )

- Jamaalg2120 contributionsA Spiritual and Artistic Revelation: Basilica of St. John LateranVisiting the Basilica of St. John Lateran as part of my pilgrimage retracing the steps of St. Francis of Assisi was an experience I’ll never forget. As an artist, filmmaker, photographer, and Catholic, I was utterly blown away by the profound beauty, history, and spiritual depth of this incredible basilica. From the moment I approached the grand façade, I knew I was about to step into something extraordinary. The Basilica of St. John Lateran, the official cathedral of the Pope and the oldest of Rome’s four major basilicas, immediately felt like a sacred gateway into the heart of the Church’s history. Inside, I was struck by the sheer magnificence of the architecture. The soaring ceilings, intricate mosaics, and gilded details left me in awe. Every corner of the basilica felt alive with faith and artistry. The massive statues of the apostles that line the nave are nothing short of masterpieces—they exude a sense of strength, humility, and devotion that is both inspiring and humbling. For me, as both a Catholic and a creative, the Basilica felt like a testament to how deeply intertwined faith and art can be. The interplay of light streaming through the windows, illuminating the ornate decorations, seemed to symbolize the divine grace that inspires human creativity. I couldn’t help but think about the artists and craftsmen who poured their souls into this work. Their vision and dedication were clearly guided by something greater than themselves. The history of the Basilica only deepened the experience. Knowing that this site has been the spiritual home of the Papacy for centuries and has witnessed countless moments in the Church’s history gave me a profound sense of connection to the universal Church. Standing in a place where so many saints and pilgrims have prayed before me was an indescribable feeling. As a photographer, I was in heaven. Every angle offered a new story, a new perspective to capture. The symmetry of the columns, the textures of the ancient walls, and the grandeur of the altar—all of it felt like a canvas waiting to be immortalized. The visual richness of the Basilica was overwhelming in the best way possible. Spiritually, the visit was deeply moving. I felt a sense of peace and renewal as I walked through the sacred space, pausing to pray and reflect on my own faith journey. Being on this pilgrimage, retracing the steps of St. Francis of Assisi, had already been transformative, but St. John Lateran added another layer of inspiration and meaning. If you’re ever in Rome, whether you’re Catholic, an artist, or simply someone who appreciates beauty and history, the Basilica of St. John Lateran is a must-see. It’s more than a church—it’s a celebration of faith, creativity, and the enduring spirit of devotion. I left feeling inspired, connected, and profoundly grateful for the experience.Written 21 January 2025
- rdrocker0 contributionsVatican Tour? Book with Dina at Devine HorizonsOMG! If you want a private tour of the Vatican, go with Dina from Devine Horizons. She is amazing!!! Dina met my wife and I at the large entrance of the Vatican. She immediately navigated the confusing lines and got us into the Vatican within minutes. She took the time to point out the restrooms and even bought us a couple bottles of water for the tour. Once inside, she spent a lot of time explaining the history of the Vatican and pointing out the special treasures inside. She is definitely an expert and answered all of our questions. The best part about Dina is that she knows her way around the Vatican and how to avoid the large crowds. We breezed through each exhibit and did not spend our time waiting in line behind people, which we appreciated. Dina was very kind and routinely checked on us and made sure the pace of the tour was ok. (My wife recently broke her ankle) Most guides simply walk around and point out stuff. Dina, tailored the tour around our needs and made us feel very special. At the end of the tour, Dina recommended a nearby shop for souvenirs and even bought us gelato while we waited for our driver to arrive. I cannot thank Dina enough for her dedication and passion during our Vatican tour. Folks, look no further than Devine Horizons for your tour needs. I highly recommend asking for Dina if you decide on a Vatican Tour. Jeff and SandyWritten 11 October 2024

- Kauaiguest0 contributionsDelightful tourThis was an excellent tour, guided by Gerardo. We walked through the neighborhood, stopping in at particular restaurants that he had chosen for us. Lucky we didn’t have lunch beforehand because all of the servings were very substantial, and delicious. We enjoyed the little restaurants we visited, learning about them and their food, and meeting the people who ran them or owned them. Gerardo was friendly and knowledgeable and it seemed to us very well known in the neighbourhood. The tour was a delight.Written 27 August 2024

- katherinecI5603OW0 contributionsBest way to see the Colosseum! We booked our private tour through Viator and operated by Love Holidays. You'll definitely need your walking shoes for this one! While it's a pretty lengthy tour with lots of walking, it was totally worth it! Our guide coordinated picking us up in a private car and getting us to the Colosseum as well as getting us through the LONG line and security extremely quickly to avoid the Easter weekend crowds. She was well versed in the overall Roman history of these sites and provided us with some great photo stops along the walking tour, taking excellent pictures of us for special memories. She was full of very interesting historical knowledge and background information without being overwhelming or boring. We visited the main two floors of the Colosseum, then we ventured out to the Arch of Constantine, climbed the Palatine and ambled through the Ancient Roman and Imperial Forums filled with temples, monuments, the burial site of Cesar, etc. It was a tour PACKED with sites and facts that we would definitely recommend to anyone looking to explore that area and history of Rome.Written 15 April 2024

- JMR_Canada0 contributionsWorst tour guide ever!I hired this tour via my hotel. It was to be uner 10 persons, but there were 11 or 12. The tour guide from the beginning had a poor attitude. She was annoyed as there were so many guests for which English was not their primary language. The paying guests were not complaining! She always walked far ahead in the crowded Vatican and recited her verbiage that we could have purchased from a book. ...but it gets worse. In the Cistene Chapel she just walk ahead not paying attention where were her psying guests. AND she left an 80 year old Asian, limited English speaking women behind. This old lady was lost and panicked and did not know what to do. This guide did not even backtrack to find her..so I spent the next 1.5 hour 'babysitting' an 80 year old to find her family. Her pathetic excuse." There were other paying customers ". Happily I found her family at the Vatican exit. The tour guide had already left the Vatican! I complained to the Tour Company as I wanted my money refunded. However, they just said this tour guide felt bad and was crying, but how about the 80 year old anxious and crying old lady? I would NEVER use or recommend this guide again, or this Tour company. I advised Hotel Baglioni Roma too as to what an uncaring, unprofessional rip-off vendor. There is no possible excuse. - heidjers20230 contributionsDivine Horizon | Love Holidays - Great tour & general servicesWe recently took a longer trip to Italy, specifically Rome and Naples. Love Holidays/Rome Top Tours came highly recommended. We booked the following three tours with them: - Colosseum, Roman Forum, Palatine - Catacombs on the Appian Way &Villa dei Quintili and Capuchyn Cript - Tivoli - Villa Adriana and Villa d’Este. Additionally we asked them to manage ground transportation to and from the airport, book trains to and from Naples, and ground transportation to/from the train stations in Naples and Rome. The team was very professional and quick to respond ... even on the weekends when you thought that they might not be in the office. The cars and drivers were great and very personable. The tours were well planned and the guides knowledgeable. Cannot recommend enough.Written 20 June 2023

It seemed that every time we turned a corner there was a new delight and rarely were we near more than half a dozen other tourists despite the throngs ! Very clever. So good we booked another tour for the next day. Great value for moneyWritten 21 March 2023
