About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 807sianl0 contributionsAvoid as only after moneyToo few buses if any at all. So waited over an hr for buses to then stop running. Upon return customer service was appalling and after 3 months still not had agreed refund as I am unwilling to provide place of Borth for refund. AVOID AS LIKELY TO BE A SCAMWritten 4 February 2025
- Anna B0 contributionsGreat dayMy mum really wanted to go to positano, and this tour seemed like the easiest way with the limited time we had. Lovely train ride, and a great trip on the ferry. Didn't have the greatest lunch in positano, but that was our poor choice, not the tours. Enough time in positano to walk around the shops and up along some paths for some great views. Amalfi is not as good as positano but a good place to pick up some souvenirs. Our guide was a bit abrupt.Written 26 January 2025

- N5755VIjoanaa0 contributionsUnforgettable tour! Our visit to the Sistine Chapel and the Vatican Museums with Gray Line - I 💜 Rome was absolutely amazing! Our guide, Carol, led the tour in Portuguese and was exceptional. Her deep knowledge, passion, and engaging storytelling made the entire experience unforgettable. The Vatican Museums are massive, but Carol navigated us through the highlights effortlessly, ensuring we understood the history and significance of each masterpiece. Her explanations added so much value, especially when we reached the breathtaking Sistine Chapel – seeing Michelangelo’s work in person was a moment I’ll never forget. The tour was well-organized, and Carol’s professionalism and warmth made it even more special. If you’re visiting the Vatican, I highly recommend booking with Gray Line - I 💜 Rome and, if possible, asking for Carol as your guide!Written 19 January 2025

- mamanoo030 contributionsFantastic information and sitesOur guide, Giada, was highly informed of the local history, a clear speaker with an impressive English vocabulary, very friendly and very patient. I had a walking stick and Giada made sure I could access the lift in the Colosseum, as well as taking ramp or hill routes instead of stairs for me. She always made sure she could see everybody and made sure I was ok, especially after 2 almost falls. I highly recommend Giada and this tour.Written 19 January 2025
- 0 contributionsGood enough to get ideasVery bumpy roads, 10+ minutes between some stops, huge difficulties finding some of the stops... this hop-on-off service could be improved. My trips were in January, and the first time it was freezing but the top of the bus was open. The second time it was raining and it was enclosed, so that was a better experience. The earphones didn't work well. Many of the stops are in awful places with no view but you have to sit it out. And the map is so small it is obliterated by the red lines of the route, so you can't read where you are. When you get off there is no information as to which way to go to the attraction. The route on the map looks confusing/doubled, and some of the stops have been changed but the map remains the same. You may have, as I did, two loud men jabbering in their language behind you, not paying any attention to the guide or to the other riders, and then playing their music aloud. So it's ok to ride on it for an idea of the city and sites, but not an entertainment by itself.Written 18 January 2025

- B5875NXpaulinap0 contributionsThe Ancient CityAfter visiting Athens it was time to go to Rome (09/13/24), Rome a big city full of history, we want to discover the old architecture, ancient ruins, and art. Some of the famous landmarks is the colosseum , the Pantheon is a Roman temple, Roman forum where you can find market places and some government buildings. the one we liked the most was Saint Peter Basilica, its beautiful when you are inside listening a mass , you feel very peaceful, the architecture is incredible amazing and was built around 1506. in spite of these places, you have many more to visit like museums, Spanish steps, the Sistine Chapel its full of art and it was painted by Michael Angelo, I recommend al least 5 days to visit this city to enjoy it. Our stay was at Tama Rooms located at Viale Giulio Cesare 223, Vatican city , the hosts Is Roberta and her Mother, they are very nice and helpful, from here you can walk 15 minutes to San Peter Basilica, Castle Saint Angelo. As well, you have restaurants, pharmacies, train station, in spite of those advantages, the service is excellent, rooms are big, very clean and safe to stay in this neighborhood.Written 17 January 2025

- nabilaa9520 contributionsA fascinating look at the history of Rome!I really thoroughly enjoyed the tour. We had a really good look at the the various parts of the colosseum with the history and background of Ancient Rome. Our tour guide Christine who studied archeology (tour guide 12) had a very through and fantastic history of Rome. She told us all about the background, social, political and economic influences regarding the various structures we saw today - even the forum and palatine hill. She also had some interesting stories and anecdotes which I really enjoyed and put the tour and information in more historical context. Christine also managed to give me some good recommendation of history texts I can read to further deepen my knowledge and understanding of Ancient Rome that have been translated in English. I will be purchasing these from the bookshops in Rome and reading them on the plane back to Britain! Overall a very good and thorough tour - I wish it lasted all day!Written 13 January 2025

Mara was a great tour guide! Excellent commentary. Being able to skip the line is worth the extra fee unless waiting in line for an hour or more in the hot sun is your thing. I’d highly recommend this tour. Be forewarned that it will be very crowded and you may not be able to linger as long as you would like. Also guys will be asked to remove hats and women may need cover up as well out of respect.

Our visit to the Sistine Chapel and the Vatican Museums with the Gray Line - I 💜 Rome was simply amazing! Our guide, Carol, who made the visit in Portuguese, was excellent. With deep knowledge and a contagious passion, she managed to turn the experience into something truly unforgettable.
The Vatican Museums are huge, but Carol has guided us through the highlights efficiently, explaining the history and importance of each artwork. His explanations made everything more special, especially when we arrived at the impressive Sistine Chapel – seeing Michelangelo’s works personally was a unique moment.
The tour was very well organized, and Carol’s professionalism and sympathy made everything even better. I highly recommend this guided tour with the Gray Line - I 💜 Rome, and, if you can, choose Carol as your guide!

Genuinely do not have the vocabulary to describe how beautiful the elements of this tour were. Everywhere you looked there was something jaw dropping to look at. I could have spent 2-3 hours in each of the tour areas/sections. In fact I think I could spent a whole day in the Basilica!!
Furthest thing from a religious person however I challenge anyone not walk around in awe while on the tour.
The tour guide Letti was very informative and kept up a good pace as we walked from area to area. As I said I could have happily stayed in each section longer but the pace of the tour was fair and gave a reasonable amount to appreciative each piece and area that was being discussed.
If you choose to go on this tour it’ll be money well spent and experience you’ll want to repeat multiple times.

Your enthusiasm for the Vatican Museums Guided Tour is truly contagious! It's wonderful to hear that you found each aspect of the tour to be incredibly beautiful and awe-inspiring. Even for those who may not consider themselves religious, the sheer magnificence of the artworks and architecture within the Vatican is undeniable.
Letizia is indeed a fantastic guide, and we're pleased to hear that she provided informative commentary while maintaining a pace that allowed for appreciation of each piece and area. We understand that the Vatican is brimming with treasures, and it's easy to feel like you could spend much more time exploring each section.
Your recommendation means a great deal to us, and we're thrilled that you found the experience to be worth every penny. We would be delighted to welcome you back for another tour in the future, and we're glad to have been a part of creating such a memorable experience for you. Thank you for sharing your feedback!

I would like to give a thumbs up to our tour guide, Letizia. She gave us a lot of historical information during the tour, and was able to get through a difficult situation with the guards at the Vatican Museum, because one person of the group did not have anything to cover her shoulders with. I think Grey Line should make it clear when we buy tickets for tours in the Vatican that is mandatory to wear clothes that cover your shoulders. That would have avoided the difficult situation the guide had to deal with. Other than that, everything was great, and Letizia's English was REALLY good. I definitely recommend her!

There’s so many different tour company’s offering these trips , we used Greyline ‘I love Rome’ for ours - we met just outside the Vatican walls , at a very friendly cafe…. Where we had a coffee and waited for the guide (10:45 am) we walked round past the long queue and into the security line , the non skip the line line went round the block.
the tour of the Vatican and art gallery’s and overlooking the gardens is amazing, they have so many lovely artefact’s dating back thousands of years. The guides were incredibly well informed but it’s soooo busy sometimes you have to wait to get into rooms , it’s not a negative .. just a fact.
Honestly we were disappointed with the Sistine chapel it was massively packed, hot and noisy and basically an empty room with a lovely painted ceiling - much smaller than we had thought and it was packed with people. Didn’t feel like a chapel , not spiritual or magical more like a hallway.
We were blown away by the St Peter’s bastillica in comparison….

Dear customer,
thank you for sharing your experience with the guided tour of the Vatican Museums. We appreciate your honest feedback and are glad to hear that you found the tour informative and enjoyable overall.
Indeed, the Vatican can get quite crowded, and it's something that many visitors encounter. Despite the crowds, we're pleased to hear that you were still able to appreciate the incredible artifacts and the vast history on display during the tour.
We're sorry to hear that the Sistine Chapel didn't meet your expectations due to the overcrowding. The popularity of this iconic attraction can sometimes lead to such experiences. On the bright side, it's wonderful to hear that St. Peter's Basilica left a lasting impression on you. Its grandeur and beauty often leave visitors in awe.
Your feedback is valuable to us as it helps us improve our services and manage our guests' expectations better. If you decide to explore more in the future, we hope you'll consider another tour with us, perhaps to a less crowded but equally fascinating destination. Choosing a low season as opposed to the peak season is also a good idea.
Best regards,
Gray Line Rome

Leticia was an amazing guide! She offered us a 2-1/2 hr appetizer of what a feast for the eyes the Vatican is and now we’re ready for dinner. She kept our group of 25 people well organized, answered everyone’s questions and moved us along at a decent pace to see so many amazing paintings, sculptures, floor mosaics and wall tapestries.
My wife and I HIGHLY recommend this tour. This was our first visit to Rome and we loved this experience.

Fantastic tour if you’re limited on time. The Vatican Museum was absolutely stunning. The lines were backed up for ages this summer, so the skip-the-line was completely worth it. It was a bit chaotic getting into the museum given the crowds, but the tour guides made sure we all made it into the building together. Once we were inside, our tour guide was very knowledgeable and made sure we saw all the highlights. Highly recommend taking this tour!

Great Guided Tour – In our opinion the Best!
My brother and I booked this tour with an english guide and it was great. The really lovely tour guide Rita has a huge knowledge of the museum and the sixtine chapels and also about he St Peters Church. She knows a lot of details. The tour was longer than it was described on the internet :)
We skipped the queue easily and this was nice haha
We really recommend this tour, you can hope that you "get" Rita as you guide :)
And if you are from GErmany and book it in english, no problem, Rita lived in Germany for a long time and speaks fluently german and fränkisch (franconian).
Rita keep on doing such lovely and friendly tours!
