About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- F6903KOryand0 contributionsAmazing experience! This was such an amazing experience! We were lucky to be the only 2 people in this class. Alessandra is such a lovely and welcoming person who has an extensive knowledge of cooking which makes her an excellent teacher. She guided us through the steps whilst giving us full control so when we were finished it really felt like an achievement. It was actually one of the best tasting meals of the trip. Once everything was cooked we sat down and enjoyed some excellent wine and wonderful conversation. Alessandra gave us lots of recommendations of what to do in Genova and the surrounding area which were great. After we left she sent us some pictures she took during the session and the recipes of what we had made. Since then she has sent more local recipes which is above and beyond what we ever expected, we couldn't be more grateful for the experience she gave us. I couldn't recommend this more.Written 19 September 2024

- Daydream047835009700 contributionsHighly recommended! We loved the whole experience! The cook Alberto showed and explained everything clearly in detail. He helped us understand and practice each step. The food was delicious, the best pasta we ever had!Written 7 August 2024
- Shar0n_3210 contributionsA fantastic evening making/cooking pesto pasta on rooftop terrace in GenoaWe booked the evening pasta pesto making course with Alberto. From the directions to his apartment, the warm welcome and the surroundings on the rooftop terrace, the course was excellent. Alberto explained about the history of the dish and the local area. We had a fantastic evening enjoying local focaccia and other local aperitifs before enjoying the pasta and pesto which we made…all washed down with a bottle of local wine. I would highly recommend this if you are looking for a lovely evening. We initially wanted to book the lunch time slot, but it was fully booked, but so glad we were on the rooftop terrace seeing the sunset. You will not be disappointed 😊Written 5 August 2024

- garretta1760 contributionsHighlight of our Italian vacationFive enthusiastic, unreserved stars! The pesto-pasta class by Allesandra Pocaterra was a warm introduction to Italian culture and an absolute highlight of our trip to Europe. Allesandra is a sommelier, wine blogger and consummate hostess. Her English is quite good (she doesn't think so) and she says her French is better. The course we took was held in her stately home overlooking the city, and my girlfriend and I had her all to ourselves. Allesandra taught us to make noodles, pesto and canestrelli cookies. (Pasta and pesto were much more labor-intensive than we expected, so be ready). We sampled olives, olive paste and a delicious olive oil. In addition, we drank espresso, two bottles of wine (she opened a third by mistake and tried it as well) and a digestif. Don’t eat beforehand -- we got so full we canceled our lunch reservation. Perhaps best of all: Allesandra provided excellent recommendations for the rest of our trip. On her advice, we took a day trip to the fishing village of Camogli and ate dinner at a Genoa restaurant where she's worked as a sommelier. Her tips alone were worth the cost. The food alone was worth the cost. The knowledge we gained was worth the cost. Altogether, it was an incredible deal -- way more than we expected. We left Allesandra, doggy-bag in hand, stuffed with food, a little buzzed and feeling like we gained a friend for life. Hard to imagine a better Italian travel experience.Written 1 August 2024
- K5751QJsarahk0 contributionsHigh quality hands on experienceThis was such a helpful and fun class to take. Alberto is extremely knowledgeable about the quality of ingredients used, the science behind getting the best pasta dough, and the history of pasta and pesto made in the Genoese way. We were able to complete a delicious dinner under his guidance, and enjoyed a rooftop aperitivo with stunning views as well.Written 29 July 2024
