About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- SunflowerJYB0 contributionsGood but Switzerland part is time wasting ORDEALIt was fair. We had to skip Lugano because guide said we couldn’t use pictures of our passports like we did on other TripAdvisor excursions, and would not let us go get them. Yet she let ANOTHER couple run get theirs and we waited. The trip DID NOT leave on time and we would have gotten back with the extra delay. She kept saying they would leave us behind. She also said we could not stay on bus instead of Switzerland . Our friends said they did even not check any passports there anyway! They also said the Lugano portion is a complete waste of time. The border was backed up in both directions despite not even checking the insisted upon passports! You are only in Lugano 50 minutes and such an ordeal for just that short visit! The tour was in 2 languages and I know both so it’s kind of tedious having to listen to every single thing explained 2 times in a row! It isn’t really fun doing this for those that only know 1 language either! They should divide this tour into 2 separate tours to AVOID THIS! But they make more money throwing you onto one big bus and just repeating everything. The guide must get exhausted! I sure would! We had to pay our own way back due to skipping Switzerland but we lucked out as our extra ferry ride , visit to the town of Varenna and train ride back to Milan were WAY more fun according to our friends and less tedious than the Switzerland ordeal. We got back 3 HOURS before our friends and had a better time. Lugano makes the trip super long and it is not worth it! The Como, Bellagio and boat ride part is awesome however. If you can do this tour without the Swiss part, it’s GREAT! The only reason they add that is so they can advertise “2 countries”. They should just stay longer on the lake, in Como and Bellagio. 50 mins in Switzerland is NOT worth all that extra driving time, the wait, and the ordeal.Written 29 October 2024
- billdest0 contributionsWonderful! The tour was excellent! The exquisite beauty of the famed Milano Duomo was first seen from above weaving through the exquisitely sculptured rooftop gloriously radiating outward to visibly inspire a uniquely artistic city centro. We then stepped down a narrow marbled stairway leading us into the massive spacious cathedral so ornately designed to express its timeless religious presence. This marvelous experience was immeasurably enhanced by our excellent guide, Carmine. He was knowledgeable, professional and attentive in guiding his flock while skillfully articulating his appreciative understanding of this magnificent human achievement accomplished over centuries of time and by many generations of craftsmen. Throughout, Carmine deftly mixed stories and insight. Our small group enabled us to easily move amid the throng of other visitors on an active mid-Sunday in late October.Written 28 October 2024
- Road7230660 contributionsWhirlwind Day TripNot being familiar with Milan, I was worried about being able to find the bus. However, it was very easy to find and the passenger list was posted on the side of the bus making it simple to identify which bus was mine. I always knew it would be ambitious to visit three cities in one day, however, it was a good overview and gave me a good idea of places I would like to come back and spend more time. If there was anything I would change about the trip, and this is no fault of the operator, it would be that half of the people on the trip, believe themselves to be influencers, which is highly annoying.Written 27 October 2024

Unfortunately, I cannot remember her name, she was sensational. Our tour was Tuesday 15.10.24 at 10am. She is so passionate about her home city Milan, and it came through, her knowledge was amazing. I would do this tour again if I could have that tour guide. The Couple from Melbourne, AustraliaWritten 21 October 2024

- stevenkK949QH0 contributionsViator is a responsible company. Do not do this tour if you cannot handle stairs. The 5 star rating is for Viator and Trip Advisor but not for this tour itself or the operator in Italy. Viator handled the problem and was responsive and easy to deal it. Know that the elevator does not go all the way to the roof. There are many stairs to climb. Also, when you are done you apparently have to walk all the way down. Be sure that you can handle those stairs.Written 16 October 2024

He did an excellent job showing us around the roof tops and providing entertaining stories about how the duomo began and how it is maintained. As well as giving us more personal details about what he sees. A very historical journey - he was exactly what I’d hope to listen to while on a tour.Written 12 October 2024

Sept 2021
First, the sights were quite good (castle, Duomo, Last Supper, etc.), and I liked the fact that this tour covered the main things in a single day. However... Our guide on Sept 14, 2021 (believe her name started with F - Flavia?) was not the best.
She seemed like a very nice person and she put a great amount of effort into the tour. She also had a great deal of knowledge about Milan, so the ingredients for a good tour were there. I hate to post negative feedback, yet I hope this helps other travelers (and perhaps spurs some changes in how the tour is conducted).
Our guide offered way, way, way too much information about each stop. She talked almost non-stop and she gave too many facts, names, dates, and information that, quite frankly, were boring. There were some nice nuggets of interesting information, but they got lost in all of the details. It was as if she was trying to cram years of studying into our heads in the span of 5 or 6 hours. She stayed way too long at each site (especially the castle), but breezed past other sites (i.e. beautiful fountain in front of the castle entrance) that people clearly wanted to pause, admire, and photograph. She walked so fast from one site to another (after spending way too long standing still during long winded explanations) that we didn't have time to appreciate things we saw along the way. Furthermore, the people at the back of the line couldn’t see the things she was commenting on, since we weren’t there yet. One poor woman with walking difficulties had a hard time keeping up with the group and the guide didn’t seem to notice.
She also seemed unaware that she lost the interest of her audience early on (when people are looking at their cell phones, wandering off, looking at other things, asking about bailing on the tour and getting our own tickets to the Last Supper, etc., that ought to be a clue).
Tour company: Pease, tell your guides that "less is more". Tell us the basics (about 1/5th of what you told us), throw in a couple of interesting but brief stories, let us absorb it, take photos, and ask questions (without fear that it will lead to another half hour lecture while standing still). Also, tell us about the Last Supper before we go in to see it and then be quiet while we are trying to take it all in (or stand to the side and answer questions, but don’t use our precious 15 minutes in the room trying to give us your commentary).
At first, I wondered if this was just my take, but 5 of the other 10 people on the tour commented to me that they felt the same way (the other 5 might have felt this way as well, but didn't comment to me). Again, the guide seemed like a nice, hard working, and knowledgeable person. She just needs to "read" her audience, and perhaps ask for their feedback along the way (i.e. Is this too much detail? Do you want to know more? How is the pace? Are you ready to move on? Would you like to pause here? Etc.).

Charles was our encyclopedic guide. His English was excellent. In addition to his amazing breadth of knowledge was his personable style and humor. On a long day of touring and facts it is good to have a personality who is so approachable and human.
Having headsets made hearing him easy wherever we went. He was thoughtful and considerate of our needs. He gave us everything we needed...and more.
This is a challenging day if you are not a walker (About 7 miles of walking). However, it was nicely broken up by a generous lunch break (on your own).
This tour is everything that it promises and I would definitely choose Charles again as a guide.
Although there is no obligation to tip I was shocked that so few people appreciated how hard he worked for us by way of a tip.

Insanely overpriced walking tour with the sole purpose of walking in the heat for 2 1/2 hours (did NOT get to go inside anything!) just to see DaVinci’s Last Supper. This seems to be the only way to see this work of art as there are minimal tickets sold daily. I think it’s sold out for the next 6 months. Our tour guide was pleasant and knowledgeable but really could have done without the 2 1/2 hour death March through the heat.

So probably you didn't join this tour at all.

On a day trip to Milan we came across this exhibition and decided to pay a visit. We weren't disappointed and glad we went. Prices are reasonable to enter and if you want an audio guide it is an extra 5 euros. Please be aware the explanation of each exhibit is on Italian but on the interactive screens you can view these in English. There is a great hands on exhibition in one of the halls where you can have a go and building some of the models Leonardo da Vinci invented.
Overall I would allow 1 hour for your visit - longer if you want to spend more time building!
To enter you need to queue up downstairs and enter via a lift to then purchase your tickets - waiting was less than 10mins.
I learnt ao much about Leonardo da Vinci and didn't appreciate his full talents till I visited this exhibition. A must visit if you are in Milan!

The Last Supper by Leonardo Da Vinci was a stand alone exhibit. It is definitely worth seeing. It is large and painted on a wall, not a canvas. Much has been done to restore and preserve it. You are limited to 15 minutes of viewing and the entire tour is less than 90 minutes

The quality of the tour/tour guide was worth the money. There is a substantial amount of walking so you should be relatively fit and able to walk 5-6 miles at a fairly brisk pace and with minimal stopping. The guide was relatively knowledgeable and he delivered the tour in English, and his language skills were more than fine.
The two major highlights of the tour are the time at The Last Supper and the Duomo. At The Last Supper, there is not much to the overall exhibit, and the time is relatively monitored to keep traffic moving. Ultimately you are in the main hall for only 15 minutes or so, during which time our guide did a nice job talking about Leonardo's work, the use of fresco techniques and elements of the painting and various interpretations of the artist's intent.
At the Duomo, we were in the church for perhaps 30 minutes or so, progressing up the right side of the church, going all the way to the 3 major stained glass windows and then returning to the front of the church via the left side. The guide spoke about the various artifacts, relics, statues, etc. every twenty or so feet, which was nice.
There was an odd 'break' about 2/3 of the way through the tour, where we were several hours in and had perhaps 45 minutes before our entry time at The Last Supper. The guide told us to grab a bite/drink/other at any one of a few nearby cafe's and asked us to regroup at a particular time. When we regrouped, there were a few others who had joined the tour just for The Last Supper.
Make sure to have an ID with you for The Last Supper as they have pre-printed your tickets and you must show a matching ID to get your ticket. Flash photography is not allowed for the painting.
Planning on your bio-breaks, either go when you break for the lunch/refreshments, or when the guide is getting the group tickets at the counter at the Duomo. There is a clean, public restroom on the side of the church. You do need a one Euro coin to use the facility.

This tour was more expensive than the write up with indicate, and lasted a full six hours. Unfortunately, for some of the 26 who signed up for this tour, the last supper was scheduled at the end, and they would have missed their train so they had to drop out. Chiara was our native Milanese Italian guide and art historian. She made this a fabulous, entertaining and educational experience for all. We started at the Visconte- Sforza Castle, and walked by many monuments and points of historic interests, including an old Benedictine Convent church of cloistered nuns that contained the most incredible art by Luini, then onward in our way to the Galleria, and then the Duomo. This was followed by a 45 minute lunch break with authentic local options. We then walked past the Italian stock market to the Chiesa Santa Maria della Grazie to enjoy Da Vinci’s Last Supper. Well worth it. Mille grazie, Chiara!

This tour was incredibly informative and thorough, a must if you either have a short time in Milan or want to get much of the history of the city out of the way in one day. Selena was absolutely wonderful and tireless!! This is a very long tour, and she did not stop her narrative whatsoever and knew millions of details about her city that she obviously adores. Be ready to walk around 5 miles, which was tough in the 95-degree F weather. Selena was unfazed and didn't even break a sweat!

We had a great time - this was by far the highest quality tour we went on during our Italy vacation, both in number of places visited and in information. It truly gives a great overview of major Milan sites in as short of a time frame as possible. The only fault I could think of our tour guide was during lunch break, she directed us down a street that was largely devoid of restaurants. Our guide even gave a short optional additional treasure after our last stop of something she was personally fond of and many tourists aren't aware about and our Duomo tickets included entrance to the Duomo Museum. If you're able and willing to walk around 6-7 miles for the tour, this is a must!

You have to ask to tour guide company. Plus, when you book, only certain TIMES and DATES are allowed to go in. PLEASE, PLEASE, make sure you click TOUR WITH LAST SUPPER. It is a very simple thing to do but also if you don’t, you will not be able to see/or even go in!!!!! You HAVE TO BOOK WITH TOUR, or you RISK your chances of NOT seeing/having admission to go in. Very sad since you’re traveling so far. Good luck! It’s breath taking beautiful!

I had quite a lot of trouble trying to book TLS on line, and opted to book the Viator 6 hour guided walking tour which included The Last Supper timed entry, the Duomo interior, and two other churches with unique history and features we would never have found . It started with a ride on a vintage trolley and with blue tooth earphones included with the tour, we were able to hear everything the guide described. We learned so much we would have never known or noticed without the guided tour. I would do it again, even though our tour in May was rained on - all day!
