Overview

Venice has a rich culinary culture, but it can be hard for visitors to avoid the tourist traps. On this tour, follow your guide to locally loved eateries. Begin at Rialto Market, where you’ll chat with vendors and learn about Venice’s food heritage. Then, cross the Grand Canal in a gondola to the Cannaregio district, where snacks, pasta, and beverages await. A small-group size makes for a personalized experience.

What to Expect
Meet your guide at the fountain at Campo San Giacomo di Rialto, near the Rialto Bridge. Your tour starts in the morning and lasts through lunchtime, so be sure to come hungry, as you’ll be doing lots of tasting.

First, head to the bustling Rialto Market, where locals come to buy daily food essentials. Interact with stallholders, and discuss Venice’s rich food heritage with your guide.

Then, board a gondola to cross the Grand Canal to Cannaregio, one of Venice’s most lively districts that’s off the typical tourist trail. Stop at a local bar for cicchetti—Venice’s answer to Spanish tapas—and a glass of wine, prosecco, or spritz. Then visit a second bar to sample fritti, traditional fried snacks.

Your final stop is at a neighborhood trattoria, where you’ll enjoy a classic plate of pasta and a glass of wine. The tour concludes back near the Rialto Bridge.

No walking, no info, overpriced..

By a stretch the worst walking tour we have ever been on. We barely walked anywhere, had a bit of food for sure (including a really inspiring spaghetti in tomato sauce), and learned nothing about Venice that I didn't already learn from the one page...More
