Our tour guide (Ana) was awesome, she was really friendly and knew what she was talking about. However, for the price, the food wasn't great (in quality or amount).

An extraordinary way how to explore Venice. You'll get to know city's history and curiosities while tasting traditional, local products with great variety (cheese, ham, sea food, pastry, ice cream) with some extra tips what else might be worth checking. :)

Touristy Walkabout Posing as a Foodie Tour
Oct 2019
GROUP SIZE: I booked this tour for a family party of 9 + 1 toddler. We were joined by 2 other couples for a total group size of 14. TIMING: The tour had a rough start due to the tour guide and one of the couples showing up 5 minutes late. But, the guide was able to make up the time through the rest of the tour. We never really felt rushed, although the size of the group made tasting stops last a bit longer at some shops. TOUR STRUCTURE: For this tour, the pattern was landmark > tasting > landmark > tasting > and so on. This format is great in letting the food settle in between tasting locations. However, the landmarks were a bit drab. In one case, we spent about 10 min standing in front of a famous market learning about its history. But, the market itself was closed up for the day with only a few stalls open with spices. My toddler and I lost interest a few minutes in and we ended up wandering around until the group started moving again. Surprisingly, the guide stayed relatively silent during the tastings themselves. I would have much rather heard a history lesson of the food I was tasting and the shop it was coming from. TOUR GUIDE: The guide was very personable and did her best to make a connection with everyone in the group. She even went out of her way to accommodate my son during tastings. Where she may have fallen short for me is during her history lessons. The details she shared seemed so impersonal and rehearsed. Her strong points were always during the walks to the next landmark/tasting where she would get to know you and answer questions. FOOD: Forgettable is the word that comes to mind. You do get a good taste of local eats, but nothing really blew our minds. The tour guide did help to accommodate for those with allergies or aversions to particular food items. You just need to make sure you state those exceptions upfront. OVERALL: This is your run-of-the-mill touristy walkabout. Nothing really stood out to me as exciting or terrible. As a food tour, I can say it's a bit disappointing. As a local food market tour, I cannot say because it was closed. They should really limit this tour to fit in the hours of the market. If you're looking for a guide to a small section of Venice, this will fit the bill. If you are looking for a true foodie experience, give this a hard pass.

We had Alice as our guide, a bubbly knowledgeable young woman who captivated us for two and a half hours. Stopping off at five hostelries for snacks and drinks. Remember, drinks are separate and have to be paid for but it's a little churlish to not have an Aperol to take in the spirit of the evening. Well worth it.

Small group of six - good chat, food and drinks

My first time on a guided food tour. Start time of 5pm was prime and ended by 7pm. We visited hidden side streets we would never have found - to sample local Venetian foods. Meeting point was easy to find and central. Loved the food. Our small group of six was the perfect six and got on splendidly. Our guide was professional, informative, prepared. The street food was divine. And so was learning about the origin of the foods and drinks. Walking helped - provide a break between the five eateries and explore different districts. Guide shared many tips (of places), things to do & see. Price covered foods only - which is similar to a sit in dinner and more. Highly recommended tour and guide.

Very disappointed. The guide was late. I had to make an international call to find someone in the office. The guide didn’t know much about the city’s history, everything was 1700 more or less or 1500 more or less. Or don’t ask me why the Bridge of Freedom is call like that. We were supposed to visit the market but it was closed!!! Her English wasn’t good, and she choose the cheapest little starters for us to try. We were walking around a lot, like 5/7 km, and then she dropped us near her train station, not close at all of our hotels or starting point. Bad food, bad guide, bad experience. We were all exhaust and hungry and angry. We went out for dinner after we finish our food tour, I hope that is review enough!!!!

Great Tour because our guide made the local culture come to life through the food she shared with us. Not only did we get some great food, but we got some insight into the people and heritage of the area. The cost and time was very well spent!
