I arranged a tour to the Nuraghe Su Nuraxi of Barumini (circa 1,500 BC), a World Heritage Site, for 8 people from our cruise ship with Dirk Kastner of Secrets of Sardinia. It was a pleasure dealing with him. He always answered my emails promptly and made numerous helpful suggestions throughout the process. Dirk kept in touch on the morning of the tour and arrived promptly at the port. We headed directly to the Nuraghe Su Nuraxi. During the approximate 1-hour drive, Dirk explained the history of Sardinia dating back many centuries. Once at the nuraghe, Dirk led us on a guided tour through many of the structures there. He explained how the people lived and worked there thousands of years ago. It was fascinating. On the way back, we stopped in the village of Villamar, where Dirk showed us many traditional wall paintings and sculptures. Upon returning to Cagliari, we wanted to tour the historic, steep Castello district on our own before returning to the ship. So, he dropped us at Porta Cristina, an upper entry to the Castello district, so we could tour it walking downhill as we made our way back to the ship. Dirk was an excellent guide, and I highly recommend him for tours in Cagliari and Sardinia.

We did the private “Wine Tasting and Wildlife from Cagliari” with six other people from our cruise ship. This was a wonderful tour! We got to see the wild horses and had an outstanding wine tasting. There were surprise changes in the ship’s embarkation and disembarkation times before the cruise, but Dirk handled the whole situation like the professional he is. During our planning phase Dirk was always responsive and helpful. He has a great personality and is clearly in love with Sardinia. Highly recommended!!

We had an amazing time, the trip is well organized and the guide was very friendly and welcoming. We went to both beaches and we were provided with mats and an umbrella which was super efficient. Highly recommended!

My friends and I really enjoyed this excursion. The scenery was really pretty and so peaceful and we loved seeing the horses. It was really nice to get out of the city and see some of Sardinia’s beautiful nature.

We had a great day on this excursion visiting beautiful beaches of Sardinia. Our guide was punctual, very knowledgeable. He made lots of stops to take photos. He even went out of his way to drop us to our hotel which was 20 min drive away from the initial drop-off location. Highly recommended.

We went on a History and Wildlife tour to see the Su Nuraxi nuraghe and the wild horses of Giara. We had an absolutely lovely day with Dirk, who is very knowledgeable about the area and who timed our visits so that there were very few other people. We felt like we had these beautiful sites all to ourselves! Pick-up and drop-off at the cruise port were convenient and stress-free. Would definitely recommend!

Our trip was amazing and very instructive. The guide is very friendly and (positively) talkative. We saw this gorgeous wild (and free of tourists!) green area - a little paradise with hearth-breaking landscapes and outstanding views. It was a real opportunity to discover another face of Sardinia : wild, calm and natural. And the guide explained us everything and showed us some beautiful corners that we probably couldn’t have found by ourselves. We’d be glad to have another trip with him!

Excellent! Dirk was very knowledgeable and accommodating. We not only got to see the Giara horses, but he shared a lot about the plants, other animals, and the history of the area. We also stopped at a Domus de Janas (Fairy House), a pre-Nuragic chamber tomb cut into the rocks, and the village of Villamar, which has multiple murals. Highly recommend.

It was an truely amazing day! Our host Dirk was a great driver, had good local knowledge that he was willing to pass on, and a good scenes of humour. The beaches were truely spectacular and the umbrellas came in great use in 30+ degree heat. We even got given the chance to stop for food by a beach and have a great snack. Don’t waste your time trying to do it yourself this trip was well worth the money!

This tour was absolutely amazing. From the selection of the beaches, to the tour guide himself Dirk, we are so impressed! Dirk offered wonderful commentary and history driving through the coast. With multiple photo stops, we were able to take in the many stunning views. We are so glad we took advantage of this amazing opportunity. Highly recommend and hats off to Dirk!

Dirk is a very nice, funny and open guy. We were a bit skeptical about doing a beach tour with a car but it was the best decision and that thanks to Dirk! The schedule was very organized and he delivered all the infos we needed. He has a B&B too but unfortunately we didn’t know that before we came. Next time we will definitely go there! I can only recommend him. He is very serious, he provides everything you need and its very reliable.

Lovely experience. Dirk is very knowledgeable and knows his way around very well. The Van was comfortable and airconditioned. Took us to some beautiful landmarks and we managed to see some wild horses and plenty of fauna. Definitely recommended.

We enjoyed our beach tour with a lovely guide Dirk. Visited two gorgeous beaches, had lunch all together in a Sardinian restaurant. Dirk has great knowledge about Sardinia, happily shared with us. Highly recommended, we had relaxing time and met friendly people. Five stars! Thank you so much. :)
