- emmalcrossley0 contributionsAn experience not to be missed in Sardinia!I love Sardinia and whenever I visit Alghero I have to go on this boat trip on the Andrea Jensen at least once! It is amazing! Beautiful old wooden sailing boat that has been loving refurbished and is well taken care of by Colin and Rachel. The lunch provided is freshly made on board and delicious. The sea and the coastline are really beautiful and the swimming and snorkelling really nice. It is a fantastic and relaxing day out that is not to be missed! I will be back again in September this year no doubt.Written 6 May 2023

- GillyC79b0 contributionsWhat holidays were made for!As I sit here, unable to travel in a global pandemic, I am re-living holiday memories. I have been a regular visitor to Alghero over the past few years and each time I have spent a day aboard the Andrea Jensen. Conveniently moored by the harbour wall in the old town this impressive wooden sailing boat is a joy to spend time on. Colin & Rachel are very welcoming hosts and as the boat leaves the hustle and bustle of the harbour I can feel my self relaxing. Guests are limited so there is plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the peaceful journey out into the open sea with a morning coffee and fantastic view. As we head to the impressive Capo Caccia vertical cliffs there is the opportunity to talk to Colin and Rachel about the boat and the surrounding area, see the local beaches and watch the activity of smaller boats, kayaks and divers in the most beautiful coloured sea. Lying in the hammock at the front of the boat is a special treat especially when the dolphins come out to play! After leaving the cliffs the boat moors in shallower waters for a refreshing cool down swim/snorkel. Floats also available for those like me who like to take things a bit easier. All that effort is rewarded with a hearty lunch - antipasto, pasta pesto, ciabatta - and a beer (wine and soft drinks also available). This is usually a sociable affair with a chance to sit and chat to fellow guests although there is still plenty of space to spread out if you’re after a quieter trip. As tea and coffee are served we leave our mooring for the relaxing sail back. This is always a highlight for me - a chance, weather permitting, to switch the engines off, get involved in raising the massive sails and then enjoying the feeling of the huge wooden boat being pulled along by the wind. It’s so peaceful! And a great time to be in the hammock, sitting on deck catching the afternoon sun or lying out and having a snooze. The wonderful views of the old town mark the end of the trip as the boat pulls back into the harbour. I can’t wait to go back and do this again. I highly recommend taking this trip if you’re in Alghero. I have been on this trip with people of all ages and nationalities who have thoroughly enjoyed it.Written 10 January 2021
- Michele W0 contributionsA great day out..A great day out and good value for money. Rachel and Colin were excellent hosts helped by their crew member Constance. The advantage of this trip is that is is restricted to 12 so plenty of room to move around. We stopped for a lunch which consisted of cold meats, cheeses and salads followed by a hot pasta dish, all and served with wine and beer. We had the opportunity to go swimming and snorkelling and in the afternoon got the opportunity to help raise the sails which was great fun. I would definitely recommend this trip.Written 22 September 2020
- MhdTaha0 contributionsLovely tripWe had a very nice and lovely boat trip with the Andrea Jensen crew. They are very flexible people and we were lucky to book at the last minute. We joined another 8 people so there was plenty of space "it felt like a private tour". When sailing we were offered drinks. Then after arrival to Capo Caccia the crew offered us their 2 course lunch. Very tasty Italian cuisine and very generous portions. Of course we had time to swim and to enjoy the lovely weather. After that we headed back to Alghero. The whole trip lasted from 10 a.m to 17.00 p.m. We highly recommend their services to anyone who is interested to sail around the Alghero coast.Written 11 August 2020

- justweddle0 contributionsFantastic family vacationAboard the Andrea Jensen, Colin and Rachel made us immediately feel like we were with life long friends. The ship is absolutely beautiful and you can tell immediately that she is well taken care of. We took a chance and booked our trip in mid-October, so we really didn’t know how the weather would be. Turned out to be one of the nicest weather days I can remember. We set sail from the port in Alghero and made our way to see the beautiful cliff walls, hidden underwater caves, and rock formations. The owners know the area well and gave details and information about the island and cliffs throughout the cruise. We even saw sport fish jumping in the water just a few meters from the boat. We stopped in a beautiful bay for lunch and swimming. The water was too cold for me, but other guests and our teenage daughters went for a lovely swim. The food and wine served was excellent (I think Colin and Rachel could open their own restaurant) and there was plenty for everyone, even a vegetarian choice. After lunch, we began our journey back to Alghero and we hoisted the sails, but unfortunately the wind was not strong enough to get the boat going. Throughout the day we never wanted for anything and the owners were quick to answer any questions we had. I’ve been on boat tours before, but nothing can stack up to our experience on the Andrea Jensen. The price did seem a little expensive at first, but once we experienced the uncompromising service, excellent food and wine, beautiful ship, and the wonderful waters around Alghero, we feel it was actually moderately priced. Our many thanks to Colin and Rachel for making this a fantastic trip we will always remember!Written 15 October 2019
- Immortal250 contributionsFantastic day out.Where to start.... from the moment we arrived at the Andrea Jensen we were welcomed aboard by Colin and Rachel. The day consisted of a beautiful trip up the coastline with points pointed out to us, then anchored up in a beautiful bay for Lunch and time to snorkel. Then a beautiful journey back to Alghero and to top It off we got the pleasure of the dolphins joining us. A fantastic day on a beautiful ship that caters for small groups. Highly recommended to anyone coming to Alghero. Thanks again dan&claireWritten 9 October 2019

- mxmshlnkv0 contributionsBoring and overpricedIn my opinion the fair price for this trip is about 60 - 70€. 105€ is overpriced. We expected more than we’ve got. In fact, we sailed to the bay, which is located near the port, but because of the low speed of the yacht, it seemed that we were sailing very far. We spent two and a half hours there, had a snack and sailed back. Got some poor information and no interactivity. As well the lack of wind. Boring return in the harbor. Positive: we’ve met dolphins. The snacks were enough tasty. Wooden pieces on the boat are interested and attractive.Written 27 September 2019

The most fun we’ve had on a boat trip! Can’t recommend enough - our hosts on the beautiful Andrea Jensen, Colin & Rachel and deck hand Meric went above and beyond to give us a fabulous day out! We were a group of 4 couples - Canadian (newly weds ❤️), Slovakians, Danish and us Irish - made for a very enjoyable day getting to know and have the Craic with great people. Rachel was a great guide to all the sights we saw and gave us invaluable tips on where to go and what to see. When we dropped anchor for lunch we all egged each other on to jump off-board and that along with the fabulous food and wine broke whatever shyness there was meeting new people - Colin & Rachel shared some great stories and then put us to work launching the sails getting us all involved and making us believe we were true sailors! Before we knew it we were heading back - not quite believing we had been on the water for 7 hours! This had been our highlight of many recent holidays and we encourage you to book - you won’t regret it! Thanks Rachel & Colin!

If you're looking for a truly memorable experience, try cruising along the coast aboard Andrea Jensen, sailing from Alghero Marina to Capo Caccia. Swimming and snorkeling at anchor, filming dolphins, the fabulous lunch of fresh produce from the local morning market, a day on board this double masted ketch is perfect. Meeting the Captain Colin and his wife Rachel and their professional approach, blended with informative knowledge of the area, to the hands on experience of the crew in welcoming all the passengers also made the day exceptionally wonderful.
If you're looking for a unique event to make your holiday complete a day cruising aboard Andrea Jensen is a must.
Prices include full Day Cruise, lunch, wines sourced locally or beer, soft drinks, water and coffee. I’m definitely returning for another trip!

Fantastic day out with Rachel, Colin and Andres. Really interesting boat with lots of history. Rachel, Colin and Andres were the perfect hosts, making sure we were well catered, providing information about the area, and the history of the boat. The food was FANTASTIC, and nothing better than a glass of wine over a lovely lunch. The group size was small and intimate which was nice as it wasn’t crowded and gives you an opportunity to get to know others. We really enjoyed helping with the sails too. Really glad we chose the Andrea Jenson over some of the other tours. Thank you so much!

A fantastic and relaxing day at sea off the coast of Alghero. We were well looked after by crew Collin, Rachel and Marek. Got to join and set sail, swim and snorkel from the boat. We were treated to a good lunch with wine. This is an excursion for those who want high quality. We were 8 guests and the maximum number is 12 people, it felt nice not to crowd and it was cozy to connect with the other fellow travelers, thanks to the small company. We can highly recommend this tour and were super happy with the whole day from start to finish.

We had the most amazing day with Rachel, Colin and Wyatt on the lovely Andrea Jensen! Cannot recommend highly enough… Our party of five enjoyed every single second, the tranquility on board, and the personal touches such as tea and coffee and drinks offered as soon as we set off. Lunch on board was amazing ..super quality local antipasti and pasta with smoked ricotta.. delicious..accompanied by wine, beer and minerals. We jumped off and swam from the boat on two different stops… the most amazing experience!! Another highlight was being accompanied along for part of our trip by a big beautiful dolphin..just incredible! Thank you so much…we will definitely do this again when back in Alghero. Very best wishes for the rest of the season, Dee and Ken xx

What a great day out at sea on this 80 year old yacht. Definitely one of the highlights of my time in Sardinia. Apart from being a beautiful boat, Rachel and Colin are great hosts. Colin is the skipper and master of the pasta (the food served is delicious and plentiful) and Rachel the navigator of stories as you cruise past the coastline.I learnt so much from Rachel about the sea, Alghero and the surrounds. Handy hints too when you’re on land. The swims from the boat before and after lunch and on the way back to port will stay with me forever. The colour of the water! There’s a ladder to climb down and back up, or you can jump. Snorkels and masks are provided. Colin and Rachel and crew member Anna inspired such a relax atmosphere, all 12 guests connected, numbers were exchanged, photos shared and encouragement for people to extend themselves and have a great day. I can’t recommend this Alghero experience more highly.

We had a wonderful day on the water on the Andrea Jensen. It was their first cruise of their season but the weather was very much in our favour. Predicted light rain didn't arrive, the sea was calm and we had continuous sunshine in a light breeze all day. The scenery along the coast north of Alghero was breathtaking. The boat is an authentic gaff rigged wooden ketch built in the late 1930s as a sailing fishing boat. Everyone helped out getting the sails up, trimmed and stowed when the sailing was done. The midday lunch was delicious with something for all tastes. The crew were welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable and talked us through all aspects of running a vintage wooden sailing ship. I would highly recommend taking this trip for people of all levels of experience and none. For experienced sailors it is a rare opportunity to experience authentic wooden ship sailing. The boat is heavy and very steady when motoring or sailing so no-one felt unwell at any time. It is especially suitable to people who have never sailed before. Well done all and we hope you have a fabulous season, John and Oona

An absolutely amazing day with Rachel, Colin and Wyatt. They were very nice, attentive and personable. Along the way we were informed of iconic landmarks and the history of Sardenga. Adding to the day of assisting with the sails, swimming in the beautiful sea, we were prepared a delicious lunch with a variety of beverages.
I completely enjoyed meeting the other people as it was an intimate number of about 14 people- a perfect number.
This was absolutely the highlight of our trip to Alghero and would HIGHLY recommend this sailing trip as a must do while visiting.

Amazing day out on the water!
In the morning, we motored around the local area while host Rachel pointed out interesting sights along the way. Plenty of opportunity to relax and take in the beautiful scenery of the Sardinian coast. The boat had tons of space for each of us . We all took the opportunity to move around and explore the various spaces on the boat while we journeyed. The net at the front of the boat was a real highlight. Perfect place to chill out right above the water.
Lunch was gorgeous with two courses - first a buffet of tomatoes, cheese, meat, bread, olives, peppers, etc. then a homemade pasta dish using baby tomatoes and a locally sourced cheese. All was extremely tasty!
In the afternoon, our help was enlisted to raise the sails - five different sails of varying sizes and efforts meant everyone on the boat was involved. A relaxing sail back from Alghero finished off the fantastic trip. Many thanks to Colin and Rachel for a wonderful and informative journey - definitely felt like a real sailor by the end!

Hi, I have two questions!
What are the chances of seeing dolphins on this tour in August?
And is there any way for a non-swimmer to leave the boat at any point during the day, eg mooring in shallow water close to a beach?
Written 21 July 2022
I'm not sure about the dolphins you'd have to ask Rachel and Colin. The boat does not moor but life jackets and pool noodles are provided for bouyancy and my husband was happy to climb overboard into the sea despite not being a strong swimmer

How many people can sail? We are a family of 6 adults, 5 children on holiday in early August. The most I can select is 9.

Is there shade on the boat? Is this a 2 hour or 7 hour excursion?
Written 5 April 2019
Hi, thanks for your enquiry, sorry for the delay in responding. Our day trip from May to October is a 7 hour trip. We erect a large shade during the lunch/swimming stop and when we are sailing the sails provide shade. Andrea Jensen is a large boat and there is always somewhere to find shade. We do suggest that you bring a hat and use sun screen.
Regards
Rachel
