      Awesome cooking class!
Had the best time with Paolo! Chef kiss to the whole experience n to the basically bottomless wine that was included in the experience :) In between the drinks n the enormous quantity of food we made, we spent the whole time rolling on our bellies out of laughter (n fullness)

14 hours notice that the trip was cancelled.
Cancelled 4pm the night before the trip because they didn’t have enough people. This would have been known to them well in advance of the point they cancelled. Give people more warning so they can make other plans! This was supposed to be the highlight of our trip and given more notice we could have booked elsewhere.

      Wonderful family experience
Such a wonderful family experience! We booked as rain was forecast but had so much fun. The only reason I can’t give it a 5/5 is that the restuarant was absolutely packed and the staff seemed a little overwhelmed e.g. they kept insisting that our group sit at a table to eat that clearly had too few seats. This resulted in a few people having to sit outside apart from the group which was definetly not ideal.

      Taster of Sicily
Took 2 tours with SAT Group, one to Mount Etna & the other a day trip to Siracusa. Thanks to Elizabeth & Alexandra for providing lots of info as our tour guides. Both were very knowledgeable. Coach drivers Angelo & Alfio were very careful drivers making us feel safe & secure, especially when navigating hair pin bends en route to collection points in Taormina! Both trips enjoyable & memorable. Thanks!

Mt Etna & Alcantara Gorge trip pretty amazing
Getting into a double decker tour bus and travelling through the narrow country lanes on the lower slopes of Etna is an adventure unto itself! The Alcantara Gorge was our first drop off. The water was frigid, yet refreshing. The twisted rock structures Then we boarded a wee train for an hour-long trip through some amazing lava flows and farmlands. After that, we jumped back on the bus and wound our way up the eastern slopes of Etna to the tourist hub (restaurants, shops, etc). Our journey continued with a cable car ride further up the mountain, where we jumped on a 4WD bus thing which took us up a dusty track to around 3000 metres. We finished with a trek around a recent spatter cone to look at a pretty impressive lava flow. This was an excellent trip with a multi-lingual guide and a range of different and amazing experiences. Highly recommended!

      Great Day with Great Sights!
The tour was very good. Whilst the other island was quaint, it was Stromboli, which was an experience that I will never forget. The people that live on this constantly erupting volcano are interesting. Get on the boat and go around the other side of the volcano and see an impressive sight red fire plumes, noise and constant change, amazing. Time in each venue was long enough lots of travel on this tour but worthy of the time to get there. Alexandria, our guide was very good and kept everyone informed even though the group contained a variety of nationalities and languages. SEE organised a trip that works, expect a long tiring day

Just focus on one place please!
This was a very long day, but we knew that before we went, as the information provided was very clear. The tour company also collected us near our hotel which was very helpful. However, what was not helpful was that the tour guides for this particular tour did not seem as fluent in English as they evidently were in other languages. The trip was marred by this as a consequence. We had very limited information during the tour round the temples and really very little time to see the ruins properly and do it justice. There were other aspects of the site that we just didn’t get to see or find out about. Given the length of the trip and the cost, it would have been better if we had was visited only one place giving us a decent amount of time to see the whole site. The piazza armerina mosaics were lovely but we would have preferred to just spend time at the valley of the temples.

      Arancino making
We had a great time learning how to make arancino. Great restaurant, great chef and great company. We learnt the tricks of the trade and came away with more arancini than we could eat. We even went back the next day for lunch. Definitely recommend this experience!

      Fustrating holiday trip
This was a very frustrating day. The 60 minute journey from Giardini-Naxos was doubled due to extended pick ups that were not advertised. Arriving late out your guide encouraged not to go to the top of the Etna (2900 m) due to queues as we were behind schedule. We we had already paid the full amount of €110 each BUT the tour guide was unable refund us. As a consequence to get our refund after the horrendous trip we had to remain on the bus, travel to travel company head office where our refund was reluctantly processed. Finally we incurred an extra €30 taxi to get home. We understand that nature can change but organisation shouldn’t.

Long Day from Taormina but worth seeing! Ruins and mosaics are well preserved!
The Valley of the Temples and Villa Romana del Casale are defintely worth seeing. The guide explained most of the mosaics prior to getting to the villa. As for the valley of the temples, she did briefly explain each temple/monument. This is a LONG day. What I didn't like... the food at the lunch stop was terrible. By far the worst meal we had in sicily. Also the guide failed to point allow for bathroom stops and the bus didn't have a functional bathroom. After the last stop, we traveled over 3 hours to get back to Taormina (without a bathroom break). We did get stuck in traffic but the guide said that the "traffic is always bad." If it is warm out, bring an extra set of clothes to change in. There is not much shade at the valley of temples

      A fantastic Sicilian experience
One of our favorite days on our entire European Summer holiday! Market tour for ingredients and then cooking for a bit and then eating and laughing for more fun! Chef was amazing and gave each and every guest attention, instruction and sheer joy! Highly, highly recommend this Sicilian afternoon!

Worth visiting & thanks to our guide and driver
Great tour thanks to our driver Angelo and our experienced guide Lisbet ! We have done many tours with SAT GROUP and have never been disappointed : easy booking process, pick-up possibility at several places around Taormina, Giardini, Recanati. The program is respected, they are very punctual. During the trip we get a lot of practical information in several languages. Once arrived, our guide gives the detailed planning and let the guests decide if they join the group or go solo. Just be back in time, that's all. We recommend to stay with the group because Lisbet is an expert and takes time to answer questions and to give information you won't find in any book or brochure. Thanks, SAT GROUP, Angelo & Lisbet !

Like being on the surface of the moon.
I gave the tour a 4 because 4.5 was not an option. We did the SAT tour yesterday evening and were fully familiar with what to expect. Collected by minibus on time, close to our hotel in Giardini Naxos, we made our way up the mountain via a vista point to a parking area where the normal road ends. Here, after a glass of vino and welcome toilet break, we, after a 45-minute break, transferred to a huge 4x4 jeep/coach with another group of people. We then made our way up the mountain by tracks forged in a 2002 lave flow, which destroyed a lot of the area, stopping off at various vantage points. Note that this is not suitable for those unsteady on their feet or with open footwear because the surface is very loose underfoot. The views, however, were amazing with interesting descriptions from the guide. Once we arrived at the highest plateau that we could by road/track, we witnessed a beautiful sunset, amazing views of Etna going into silhouette, and as dark fell, you could see spectacular minor eruptions from the highest of craters. A jacket is required as in resort it was 35 degrees, but at the top, I could see my breath. The return journey in darkness was interesting and not for the faint-hearted. We were transported by SAT to a wooden eatery whereby you could participate in food and beverages which were perfectly adequate. By 23.30, we were back in resort (which was determined by time of sunset). The minor reason we didn't give it 5 circles is that it became a little confusing when we were combined with another group at the 4x4 transfer, and as there were several on the mountain at the same time you could easily become confused as to which vehicle the rest of the SAT party was on. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our etna experience. Thanks to Franco, who was attentive and entertaining.

Make sure you take cash with you, as the guide will collect money on the coach to pay for the entrance fee to the Archaeology Park. The coach stopped at a service station on the way to Syracuse, so we could all use the loos and pick up a quick coffee/snack. Unfortunately 3 other buses arrived at the same time, so we spent most of the 20 minute break in a horrendous queue for the toilets with no time to spare to buy anything from the shop.

We spent 1.5 hours at the Park but unfortunately our guide spent long periods of time standing in one spot to talk, or walking painfully slowly along.....and then suddenly ran out of time, so we got to take a quick photo from the side of the amphitheatre before having to dash off to our coach. We really needed an extra 20 minutes so we could walk around the amphitheatre and take it all in.

Our next stop was Ortygia. After seeing a map of Ortygia which highlighted the main attractions, we deserted our tour guide as we knew we could walk at a faster pace to see the sights, and still have time for a leisurely lunch.

The trip home was uneventful, with no bathroom break on the way back.

Our tours offer a precise schedule. Not expected to have other coaches and queues at the service station. Regarding the visit in Syracuse, it all depends on how many groups are in the Archaeological area in that very moment. Sicily has been particularly crowded during the past summer. Regards. Renate Kobler was a great guide and Michele an excellent driver. The itinerary was well-planned and stimulating, with ample time for personal exploration on Ortygia. It is hard to imagine better value for a day-trip to an unmissable location.

This place is beautiful - DONT go with a tour group as they rush you and you will be disappointed - grab a map and do it yourself - just lovely and impossible yo get lost...and dont forget a stop at CONDORELLI!. In the tourist season try and go early in the day, the mornings are beautiful and you will beat the heat and the crowds!

Dear Roseannafromoz, not all visitors like to drive and park the car when on holiday, besides that, a local guide would be a high cost for only two people, so our organization offers the possibility of visiting Sicily with competitive prices and forgetting the car, saving your energy for discovering the beauties. There was an accident on route and we were delayed by an hour or more. Consequently, we did not arrive at Syracuse until 11am. Our tour was like a route march in the heat of the day. I was so hot and bothered that I didn’t take in a word our guide said. Ortigia is beautiful and I would highly recommend a visit but it wasn’t much fun in a day trip from Taormina. To fully appreciate this beautiful place, I would recommend that visitors consider staying overnight.

Bus arrived on time. Arrived at location but because of numbers were divided in two groups. Did not find either guide to be very informative and felt tour was too rushed. Lost our guide as she walked off without putting up her umbrella could not find her. Second guide was hopeless. Time alone in the town was fun we went off and did our own thing. You could easily do this tour cheaper on your own !!

    Hello you!

I went with my friend to Syracusa by the SAT TRAVEL - AGENCY in Taormina.
    It was a good choice:
a nice trip.... kind peple on bord of the bus....
and we saw a lot for example: the greece theatre - the roman theatre - and the old City of Syracusa.
Most impressive to me: The cathedrale SANTA MARIA.... inside the temple of the GREECE - the ROMAN and the CATHOLICS... all together = a place where you can travel through thousands of years of the human beings - and a it seems to be a place for european hope:
I learned that nothings is lost - and everythings flues... in the history of all of us.

I saw the Ear of Dyanysos before.... simply : WOW!!!!

The guides are very competent - the bus is comfortable !
So, whenever I come back to Taormina - I ´m shure I will travel again with SAT G. T. - ..... next time to PALERMO?
Who knows - but shure,I will tell you about in a few years - because:
    Sicily is my big love!

    Bye bye

The initial visit to the Greek and Roman (amphi)theatres was wonderful. However the rest of the tour tried to take in too much and far too fast. The day was very warm and in Ortygia we started with a rapid walk to the Fountain of Aretusa. Nowhere to sit, and though of great historic importance there was not a lot to see. Then a walk to the main piazza and the fantastic cathedral. We couldn't hear the guide in the cathedral and his English wasn't too good. Then another walk to the third site, by which time we were panting. All too much and too fast.
The tour company should reconsider. Ortygia deserves better. It would be far better in Ortygia (and easier for the guide) if we started at the cathedral and were given maps and directions to discover the other main sites in our own time.

Hello JillCork, the visit of Ortygia involves some walking and that is absolutely necessary, as the island is all a pedestrian area and the sites are spread out all over. Regarding the interest about the sites, that is subjective and everyone has his own taste and judgment. Regarding the heat in October, that is very unusual, at least you did not experience July/August when it is really unbearable. In any case, the logistic of the visit has been planned all over the years and we are sorry if you did not agree on that. We hope next time we can offer a 100% satisfactory experience. I don’t drive and using public transport is not a viable option for visiting various sites/cities in Sicily. Hiring a private driver would have been far too expensive, so I had no option other than to join a guided tour.

After doing my research I decided to go with SAT and booked a couple of excursions online, which was easy and straightforward.

On the morning of the tour the bus arrived promptly at the bus terminal, but upon seeing the size of the coach (a huge double decker) I instantly had a sense of dread - as it obviously meant that this group was going to be massive - and it was. We spent the first hour picking up other customers, and the bus was full.

The majority of the tourists were German, there was maybe 8 Brits, six Italians, and a couple of French tourists. As we made our way to Syracuse our guide made various announcements in all four languages.

When we arrived in Syracuse the group was divided into two - the Italians went with the guide who was with us on the coach, while the rest of us went with the other guide!? I kid you not! So six Italians go off for a small group guided tour, whilst the handful of Brits & French are lumbered with the 100 or so German pensioners!

The guide we had (who was lovely and very knowledgeable) spoke firstly in German, then English - during which time the ignorant idiots would talk so loudly that none of us could really hear what was being said. Needless to say I was not best pleased.

After being herded around the sites we were put back on the coach and we headed off to Ortygia. We were told on the coach that once we arrived there we would be doing another guided walk to various sites, before getting some free time for lunch. But at this point I’d had enough and as soon as we arrived I made a break for it and had a lovely three hours by myself exploring the island.

If the group was smaller, or they had divided us more evenly at Syracuse, this would have been quite an enjoyable day out.

In the past I’ve avoided group tours, as I much prefer doing my own thing at my own pace. This trip just reaffirmed how much I HATE group tours. I did do another tour with them to Palermo (which I’d booked at the same time) which I’ll write about in another review.

In a nutshell if you enjoy being herded around like a flock of sheep, standing around for long periods of time waiting for the guide to eventually speak in your language (which you probably won’t be able to hear anyway) and getting elbowed out of the way by ignorant German pensioners - then this is the trip for you.

Personally, I would not recommend this tour.

Hello Babykong, it is quite surprising that Tripadvisor allows this kind of comment that is totally discriminatory in relation to the age and the nationality of other guests travelling with you. We found that a very dangerous and disrespectful behavior. Comments can be done towards the service or the organization and not towards the origins or the ages of other participants. We hope Tripadvisor will take measures. Next time, please ask for a private tour, we also offer them, just let us know in advance. Cordial regards. Guest Relations Manager SAT Group

We drove from our hotel in Linguaglossa it took us an hour and a half we parked in a large car park near the port where you pay when you leave for 24hours it is only 10 euros you have to enter your car reg Syracuse was absolutely stunning I would chose A bus ride to the Greek amps theatre we walked but it was too far the castle is worth a visit only 2 euros definitely go to a amphitheater first then spend the afternoon around the port and churches fountains etc

We wanted to visit Syracuse from Taormina but public transport is very difficult so this was ideal. The tour was perhaps too rushed for anyone with walking difficulties. We didnt have long enough in Ortygia and had little time for a very late lunch but it was good value for the price.

We would go back, but on our own.

Hello Tanya D, thank you for your feedback. The tour schedule is necessarily tight as in one day we visit the wide Archaeological Area with the Greek Theater, the Roman Amphitheater, the Latomies, the Altar of Hieron II and the Latomies of Paradise with the Ear of Dionysius, then the island of Ortigia with the Temple of Apollo, the Cathedral and the Fountain of Arethusa. Many things to see, that is why the tour has to follow a certain schedule. Customers are always very satisfied to visit all these sites with the assistance of a Tour Leader and a Local Guide on spot. Warm regards from Taormina. Guest Relations Manager SAT Group
