Mount Etna Half-Day Tour

Overview
Towering Mount Etna is one of Sicily’s most popular tourist destinations, drawing many sightseeing tours daily. This tour stands out by including round-trip transportation, a guide, snacks, and an almond wine tasting at a mountain chalet. After a casual hike through lava fields and a visit to underground lava caves, you’ll come away having seen more of the volcano than most sightseeing tourists.
What to Expect
Begin your tour with an optional hotel morning pickup in Taormina. Meet your guide and small tour group and get on the road for the roughly 75-minute journey to Mt. Etna.
Stop at the foot of the volcano and take a short hike across lava fields. Along the way, your guide tells you about Etna’s geological features and history.
Afterward, don a helmet and grab a flashlight to head underground into a lava cave, which you also explore with your guide. The last stop is a nearby chalet, where you lunch on a Sicilian sandwich, local wine, cake, and almond wine. Relax on the journey back to Taormina and finish the tour with a drop-off at your hotel.

We did the half-day tour on March 8, 2019. We are a pretty fit couple in our mid-70's. If you are of a "certain age" but still enjoy hiking, don't hesitate. This is not to be missed. It is challenging enough to be interesting but...More

This was awesome and well worth the money. We already had some winter gear, but I was super-impressed that they had everything we could need to make our trekking safe and comfortable: snowshoes, poles, heavy jackets, extra gloves, hats, etc. Roberto was a great guide...More

My stay in Sicily coincided with the eruption of Etna that I saw from the beautiful Amphitheater, so making the tour was an interesting experience for all we saw and especially for the excellent and professional explanations of the guide Roberto to our questions. I...More

We were a group of 5 girl friends visiting Sicily from the UK for only 5 days. We chose to stay in Taormina but were keen to also take a trip to see Mt Etna. Due to our limited time in Sicily, we wanted to...More

We too booked it in Taormina so I agree that best might be to check website. Note that Catania is South of the mountain and Taormin seems to concentrate more on "its" north/east side. I think that Catania is in fact a... More
