- 964evelienp0 contributionsSoaper experience! ;)Our visit to the Soap Museum was nothing short of extraordinary! The highlight of our experience was making our own soap—a truly unique and memorable activity. We were thrilled to take our handmade soap home, allowing us to escape to Sicily even on the rainiest days in Belgium every time we wash our hands. The olive tour was another standout moment. We learned more in this visit than we did during an olive tour we had booked earlier that week. The museum's commitment to ecological farming is impressive and inspiring. Alessandro, our guide, brought the museum to life with his passion and enthusiasm. He truly made our visit special, sharing his knowledge with such joy and dedication. We wish him all the best, and may all his (gin) dreams come true! Grazie mille, Alessandro, per tutto!Written 10 August 2024
- Stephanie B0 contributionsMuseum tourThis was an amazing experience for our group. Host is very welcoming and the area is located in the heart of olive tree growing. The ancient barn full of authentic ancient machinery and tools. Explanation is very interactive and never dull. An experience we will treasure. Highly recommended.Written 4 April 2022
- RCutajar0 contributionsSoap-Making ExperienceVery interesting experience at the Museum of Soap. Place is very nice surrounded by olive trees. The host was very good and gave a good briefing of the history of soap making. We also had the opportunity to make a little soap, such experience was very nice. Would definitely recommend it.Written 22 August 2020
- juno_usa0 contributionsFantastic! This place is a must-see in Sicily! Booking in advance is required but Alessandro is really flexible so he provided a tour to us on the same day of our call. The tour was really interesting and funny on the same time for a very reasonable price. Highly recommended!Written 10 May 2019
- HJA500 contributionsVery interesting group visit - don't miss it!We visited this museum as a group of 8 and were enchanted by the authentic artefacts and Alessandro's knowledge and enthusiasm. The ancient history of such an everyday item as Soap made us look at it in a completely different light. As well as the Tour, we had a Tasting of Olive Oil and a pre-arranged Italian Language class. What a wonderful visit in this beautiful countryside setting. We went by minibus from Sciacca and would definitely book next time for a Cooking class. 😀Written 14 April 2019
- Cesca C0 contributionsFascinating experienceThis was a real treat, we rang in advance to book and were met by Alassandro who started his tour in the olive groves itself before moving into the museum. The enthusiasm and knowledge made the experience informative and engaging. Having spent 10days in Sicily this was a highlight. Left with lovely products to use at home. Thank you!Written 27 October 2018
- Carmela Q0 contributionsInteresting Experience!Alessandro we enjoyed our tour with you this summer!! We would definitely recommend this activity to anyone visiting Sciacca. We have come home with a new appreciation for quality soaps.Written 2 October 2018
- Franziska K0 contributionsLearn everything about olives and soapLittle musuem in the middel of olive trees. Very difficult to find, but the owner was so nice to pick us up nearby. During the visit you can learn how to make soap nowadays but also in ancient times. Just great! Kids can even make their own soap to take home. Really worth a visit!Written 31 July 2018
- Paul_Elin0 contributionsWho knew soap could be so interesting?Set on a beautiful organic olive farm, the visit to the museum, while small, was made fascinating by Alessandro's passion for the history and process of soap making. I now know more than I ever expected about soap!Written 10 May 2017
- dimsumcafe0 contributionsThe world and its history from the perspective of soapSo much information, history, and unique artisan soaps from around the world packed in this little stone (an old storage) house in the heart of an olive grove! As other reviewers have noted, Alessandro is extremely knowledgeable (from the chemistry behind soap to the history) and entertaining. He tied in many events (and turning points) of European history through the development and uses of soap and people's bathing habits. There is also a collection of artisan soap from around the world, each telling its own story (some may not be found ever again, like the Aleppo soap). And how nice it was to see soap from Taiwan! :) When I visited there was a new feature being planned (featuring the local famous ceramic work as well) where the visitors can experience "washing with soap" from different historical periods. I look forward to a return visit to try out this new interactive feature! Definitely worth a visit to see how human history can be told through soap. Do call ahead to make a reservation, and leave extra driving time, not because the museum is far away but because of the limited signage allowed on the road.Written 26 April 2017
- Luigi M0 contributionsSoap with a passion! In the beautiful countryside outside Sciacca Alessandro has opened a museum and hands-on visit to know all about soap, he transmits his passion and knowledge of all things soapy and we got to make our own customised soap. If you want to do something a little unusual in lovely surroundings then go to visit the Museo del Sapone, he speaks excellent English and is full of stories and tips.Written 11 November 2016
- Natalie S0 contributionsCultural gem, a must see in SicilyCasa Museo del Sapone is a must see for both locals and visitors to Sicily! A unique attraction located in the picturesque heart of an olive region. There is a sign at the entrance to the farms drive which is helpful in confirming you are headed in the right direction. And the short drive is a great photo opportunity with olive trees in all directions, some of which are over 100 years old! Upon arrival, you are greeted by a smiling Alessandro, owner of the museum and chemist behind Saponi & Saponi natural cosmetics. The museum is housed in a restored stone building, a beautiful space and welcome respite from the heat of the day! Alessandro's enthusiasm and passion for the history and science of soap is infectious!! The tour (in perfect English) discusses everything soap; history, culture, chemistry.. changing forever the way I'll look at the humble soap bar :) but more than that Alessandro is a knowledgable and engaging story-teller taking you on a journey through the centuries, and across the globe! An absolute must is the optional soap making workshop! Plus, there is an opportunity to sample and purchase the Saponi & Saponi natural cosmetics, produced in the laboratory on the olive farm! A fun visit! Congratulations Alessandro, Casa Museo del Sapone is a cultural gem and highlight of my travels south!Written 26 September 2016
- rsnow50 contributionsAmazingly interesting!Quite interesting review of the history and process of soap/s around the world. Very informative and the setting is quite nice--in the middle of an olive grove and housed in a very old renovated Sicilian farm building. Alessandro is so knowledgeable and entertaining! The olive oil based products available there are just great.Written 22 September 2016
- WRGH0 contributionsSoap from an enthusiastAlessandro provides a very personalised tour of his soap museum and if you like you can make your own soap with him. It is a bit off the beaten track so best to phone/email ahead and he will be waiting for you when you arrive.Written 6 September 2016
- LisanneDe0 contributionsGreat experience in Sciacca! What a fantastic time I had at this soap museum Not only did I learn a lot about historic and current soap making processes, I also got to have hands on experience and make my very own soap! The host is very passionate, knowledgeable and a lot of fun. Those on the tour with me all had a good laugh with him :) Thank you for great experience.Written 23 July 2016

Oh where to start! Dearest Alessandro, such a charismatic, intelligent and gentle guide. He made our experience ever so heart warming. His charisma shines through the entire sharing and his sharing is well knowledgeable and extremely interesting. The tour he provided us with was ever so personal. The tour started off with a good background of soap and soap making, then we proceeded onto creating our own small soap bar to keep, then we moved onto the museum where Alessandro goes into more detail about soap/ olive oil making. Then to our surprise, we where taken upstairs on the roof where we could see a whole landscape of Alessandro's majestic lands. We could see the sunset, and Alessandro kindly prepared a taste of his own olives, olive oil and a chilled bottle of white wine. Alessandro - we are truly grateful for the amazing experience! Keep well :)

This was a great experience; informative class on soap and olive oil. The museum was amazing and you truly get a sense for the importance of both the olive industry and local soap making as a value added by-product. Highly recommend!

We had a great experience with Alessandro who’s the owner of the property. He takes great pride at what he does and it shows. We learned a lot about the olives and the oil. We made soap to take as a souvenir. Highly recommend this tour, you won’t regret it He also speaks English very well which was a great plus for us.

Super great and warm tour/workshop with Alessandro. We were lucky that we were the only ones there, so it was an exclusive tour just for us. Alessandro built the museum himself with a lot of love and passion. It was great from start to finish and it was a lot of fun with him.
Thank you Alessandro for the great experience and the great aperitif and white wine.

I've been on so many tours during my time as a meeting and event planner. I thought this would be just another tour. I was happily mistaken! Alessandro (the owner/operator) of this Olive Farm was amazing. He speaks English very well (he went to university in Australia), and has a real passion for all things related to olives. He has done a great job at restoring a historic building on his property which houses the "soap laboratory" and a museum about the origins of soap, how to make it, etc. We learned how to "taste" olive oil and determine its "notes", and ended the evening with wine and hors d' oeuvres outside his home. We made our own soap which we took home as memories of our experience. This experience was an amazing value, and we learned things that we will keep with us forever. It isn't a "tour".....it's an Experience!
