About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- _jackie3943940 contributionsGreat experience and reasonable prices! We booked several transfers through Sicily Tours for our trip to Sicily in August. We were even able to book a transfer to a more remote village where one of our family member’s great grandparents were from. All of the drivers were on time, knowledgeable, and very friendly. It was very easy to book and confirm via email. Prices are reasonable. I would definitely recommend.Written 12 October 2024
- W2245GQnatalias0 contributionsTraveling around Sicily in a rental car. Don't do this.Traveling around Sicily in a rental car. Don't do this. We visited Sicily in early October 2024. The tour was purchased from the company TUI. The hotel in Letojanni was the only comfortable place to live. Everything else on the island was surprising. We always rent a car when traveling to the south. It was difficult to do this in Letojanni. We found a car rental company 11 kilometers from our hotel. The company's services do not include delivery of the car to the hotel. We had to go to get the car by taxi. The cost of a one-way taxi ride cost us 35 euros. When drawing up the rental documents, we were forced to take out very expensive insurance. It was impossible to choose another insurance, since the company only had one insurance. Our adventures were just beginning. The roads in Sicily are like paths with bad asphalt. Every square meter is built up with houses, hotels and fences. There are simply no parking spaces. If you manage to park your car near a cafe where you want to have lunch, you are very lucky. Be sure to take sandwiches and water with you, so as not to die of hunger or thirst. Toilets. We traveled around many settlements from Messina to Syracuse, but never saw a public toilet. There is no way to relieve yourself on the sides of the roads, since there are houses and fences everywhere. There was no forest anywhere, so we came up with different ways to solve the problem of the lack of a toilet. We advise you to take a bucket or diapers with you. You can go to the toilet at a gas station, but they are usually closed during siesta hours from 12-00 to 16-00. Politeness of the local population. Local people are simply impolite in 99 percent of cases. We advise you not to ask local people for help or advice. For them, tourists do not exist as people. Believe me. English language. English is not spoken on the island, and if it is used, then very rarely. Local people do not teach English. Self-service gas stations often do not have explanations in English, so we had to look for other gas stations with instructions in English to fill up our car. We recommend learning Italian in advance or being patient and translating from Italian using an electronic translator. Jellyfish in the sea. There is no information about the invasion of jellyfish off the coast of Sicily. We were bitten by jellyfish in the sea on the beach in Letojanni. One day there were a lot of them. We did not know that we were not allowed to swim. When we went into the water and begun swimming, several jellyfish stung us at once. Believe me, it is scary when you are bitten underwater, and you cannot see who is biting you. Jellyfish stings are very painful and take a long time to heal. After that, we were afraid to go into the water and did not swim anymore. Jellyfish also bit children. We visited Italy before, and it was a pleasant trip. Sicily is one of our unsuccessful trips.Written 11 October 2024
- euro-egg0 contributionsFantastic experience with Sicily ToursI just returned from a tour I organized and led in Sicily for a small group of 6 people. Sicily Tours (Carmelo and his whole team) was amazing to work with - gantastic communication, very flexible and accommodating. Our driver (Christian) was the best! He very kindly offered suggestions and information on points of interest. His driving was great and he is an expert luggage packer in the van! I will definitely be working with them again for any future tours in Sicily!Written 13 September 2024

- merjoe0 contributionsWonderful Driver for Day Trips around SicilyWe had a fabulous experience with Sicily Tours! We booked two day trips with Roswitha who was very knowledgeable and responded in a timely fashion. Our drive for both trips was Carmelo who we highly recommend. Our first trip was to Siracusa and Noto. Carmelo was prompt, informative and enjoyable to speak with. He dropped us off at the locations and gave us pointers but you are on your own when walking around. The second trip was to Ragusa and Modica which was also a wonderful experience. The van was very comfortable and clean. Thank you Carmelo!Written 23 June 2024

We wanted to try & see our grandparents roots in Seradelfalco. Gianni was our translator & we obtained a lot of information in the town hall! - 235anniej0 contributionsOutstanding tour and great driverWe are three seniors, one of us mobility impaired and unable to walk easily, so we hired Sicily tours to drive us through Sicily, beginning from the airport in Palermo to drop off at Catania Airport 8 days later. They suggested a tour package that included Palermo, Monreale,Cefalu, Agrigento, Taormina, Mt Etna and Siracusa, plus our driver Gianni treated us to stops in a few breathtaking small towns in the Catania area. We can’t say enough good things about Gianni, who went over and above his driver responsibilities to make sure we didn’t have a lot of walking to do yet still got to see all the wonderful sights of Sicily. We are so grateful to Carmelo’s Sicily Tours and to Gianni for giving us a vacation we will never forget.Written 4 July 2023
- CheckingIn100 contributionsReliable and Professional Italian Car / Tour ServiceCarmelo and his team provided outstanding service for my wife and I during our recent trip to Sicily. We used their service to take us from Diamante to Taormina (including the ferry), from Taormina to Canicatti and back the next day and finally a personalized afternoon trip to Savoca from Taormina. All the drivers were very prompt and professional. Carmelo himself was very responsive in arranging all the trips and taking us personally to Savoca. I am fairly sure they also offer multi day private tours on the mainland and Sicily, as one of their drivers was completing a private tour in Puglia. I would absolutely use their service again without hesitation.Written 11 June 2023

- cocotraveler0 contributionsThe best drivers to enhance your vacation! We really enjoyed working with Sicily Tours di C. Egitto, whose personnel were quick to respond to questions before we finalized our trip. The pricing was fair for the amount of time and long distances we traveled from Palermo across countryside to Taormina. Each driver was professional, on time, and very safe, good drivers managing to get through tight streets and spaces. We had Alfredo, who drove us from Ragusa to Syracuse and he allowed us a bit extra time to enjoy Noto along the way always being polite and thoughtful of our time. Of special note, is Gianna. He picked us up in Palermo and drove us through the countryside to Agrigento, then Piazza Armerina and finally Ragusa which was a very long day for him. Later in the week, we also had him pick us up in Syracuse on the last stretch of our tour. He drove us up to Mt. Etna and then took us on a special drive through various small towns to get a flavor for that region before getting to our wine tour at Gambino Winery (excellent). Finally, he drove us to Taormina for a final stop before saying goodbye. He was knowledgeable about history and traditions of each region we were in. What a perfect guide to have with us that made our vacation that much more special. We highly recommend this tour group and if you are lucky, you will get one of these top notch drivers. Thank you!Written 21 May 2023
- Seaside598676847450 contributionsSicily the wonderful way!In summary, Sicily Tours C. Egitto was simply fantastic. Not inexpensive, but we didn't mind spending money to have someone else drive (locals), and to have expert guides at attractions where it made sense (ruins, historical sites). We had an absolutely effortless, comfortable, friendly, and very interesting ten-day trip - definitely met or exceeded our expectations! The four of us (two couples) wanted to visit some specific locations, and spend more time in other areas - basically a custom tour, rather than a canned excursion. Before our trip, we worked out details with the office, and they had many good suggestions as to where to go, what to see, and how long to stay in each place. We were greeted at the airport upon arrival, and returned to the airport at the end of our stay. All the drivers and guides spoke English, though some were better than others. It was usually fine, but a few times we struggled with communication (thankfully, nothing critical was missed). Every detail of the logistics was seamless, and the communication and planning were outstanding. We always knew where to meet and when, and what to expect. Though the vans (Mercedes) were large and roomy, our drivers were always smooth and expert at maneuvering around the many curvy and narrow roads. I was so glad to not have to drive! Many details were thought of; Specifically, bottled water, always keeping our own wishes in mind, checking to make sure we were comfortable, helping us navigate (as some of us are not in the best of physical shape). Beyond that, the drivers were extremely helpful in taking us to restaurants (and gelaterias!) that were to our liking and with wonderful food. We felt very welcomed by the restaurants, and were treated first-class. Additionally, though not tour guides, the drivers knew many interesting facts, and pointed out a lot interesting sites along the way. They were totally professional, yet warm, friendly and engaging. One driver was very knowledgeable about the local wines, and we really enjoyed his valuable information. For several places, Sicily Tours arranged for local expert guides (Palermo, Agrigento, Siracusa). All had a wealth of information, but did not overload us with too many facts. I felt like we got a good picture of the history of Sicily, and a lot of insights. Again, the guides paid attention to what we were most interested in, and adjusted accordingly. We really appreciated that our drivers and guides were flexible and always attentive to our wants and needs. I would definitely recommend Sicily Tours C. Egitto to travelers looking for an easy way to explore this great land.Written 19 May 2023

On our cruise we stoped in Messina and contacted Sicily Tours. We decided to book Mount Etna and Taormina. It was an unforgettable experience. Our driver Carmelo was so friendly and very professional. The van was new and comfortable and the service excellent. He told us a lot of the sicilian way of life and suggest us delicious restaurants to try typical sicilian delights. We will definitely come back to Sicily and book other trips with Sicily Tours. I can recommend 100% Sicily Tours to all people. Thanks again to Carmelo and crew!

This review is long overdue, but I just couldn't let the year end without expressing my thoughts on Sicily Tours di C. Egitto. This past summer my family and I traveled to Sicily. We hired Sicily Tours to pick us up at the Catania Airport and take us on day trips to the visit the Gambino Winery, Mount Etna, and the "Godfather" tour. We also had Sicily Tours drive us from our week's home base in Taormina to Palermo with stops in my husband's grandparents' hometowns of San Cataldo and Montedoro. I can't say enough about how wonderful our driver, Carmelo, was. He was extremely professional, reliable, trustworthy, and pleasant. He was an excellent driver, always on time, and very accommodating to meet all our needs. I highly recommend to anyone was is planning a trip to Sicily to hire Sicily Tours. Our driver Carmelo made our trip a most enjoyable one. Sicily Tours di C. Egitto is the absolute BEST!!!

We were met by Antonio at the cruise ship. He was friendly, charming and very knowledgeable. We drove to the top of Mt. Etna and he was able to describe so much about the history of the volcano and the present day information. Then we drove to Taormina. Antonio knew where the great pictures were and gave us ample time to be on our own in this great little town. Couldn't ask for a better day.

We chose Sicily Tours for similar reasons to other clients. We liked the look of the itinerary as we wanted to see more of the island having enjoyed a stay in Taormina five years ago. We wanted a knowledgeable local driver so that neither of us had to do it and to provide local insight into the countryside we were driving through. Also, it definitely helps to be a Sicilian if you are driving in Sicily!! Our driver, Carmelo, has already been well reported on and we would not detract from anything that has been said. He is a thoroughly nice person, with whom we had no problem in getting on very well and his driving was immaculate. At no time did we feel under any pressure to rush; when we wanted lunch he came up with some excellent recommendations and everything we wanted to do was accommodated without fuss.
The tour itself is excellently thought through and gives a very good insight into all the cultural and architectural influences on the island, whether Greek, Roman, Norman or Arabic. We did a lot but at the same time, we had plenty of time for relaxed lunches when we wanted to. Carmelo took away all the stress you might get through doing something like this yourself.
We did not meet Giuliana in the office but I could not fault any of our dealings with her. All our enquiries were dealt with promptly and precisely and met all of our requirements.
In short, we would highly recommend Sicily tours if you really want to get a flavour of what this delightful island has to offer. Oh, by the way, the trip to Etna with honey tasting on the way and wine tasting on the way back was absolutely brilliant and thoroughly recommended.
If this is the kind of holiday you are looking for, look no further!

We recently took a one week trip in Sicily, and had Sicily Tours' driver Carmelo pick us up at the airport, and then drive us for a full week as we went around the entire island--Taormina, Etna, Syracuse, Noto, Piazza Armerina, Agrigento, Erice. The vehicle, a Mercedes Viano, was spacious for 4 of us to all sit in the 2 back rows, and very comfortable. Carmelo himself was an excellent driver, very safe, very reliable, and his English is very good. I had considered renting a car, as one never knows what type of driver/vehicle one may end up with, but Sicily Tours (Carmelo) receive top marks in all respects. Highly recommended.

I had arranged a tour to Mt. Etna and Taormina, with a stop in Castlemola for a small group from our cruise roll call. Carmelo answered all of my inquiries very promptly, seemed experienced, knowledgable, and seemed to have very good judgement. His prices were much better than if we had done a similar tour through our ship. He drove a very nice Mercedes van that looked brand new and we did not feel packed in like sardines. After arranging the tour, additional people wanted to join it, and Carmelo was able to add another delightful driver named Angelo. (I will add here that we didn't get to do the short visit to Castlemola because we had used too much time at an olive oil/honey/wine producing place and dallied too long at Taormina - restroom lines were LONG! - so we decided to skip Castlemola due to insufficient time. If your ship gets in before our's did - 10 a.m. - then you could probably squeeze that in.)
In Italy, there are guidelines as to who can be allowed to truly be a tour GUIDE. These guides have special licenses and it's a very touchy subject. There are driver-guides (like Carmelo) who can give some information and narration about what you see, but they cannot enter official bulidings acting as a "tour guide", etc. However, we could have had an official guide accompany us but no one in our group felt we needed it and we didn't. (I think the cost for an additional, "official" guide was about $120E per van - ?) Oh, yes, both drivers spoke English well and were not difficult to understand. They were also waiting for us as we stepped off the ship with a sign as promised.
Carmelo is quite charming and extremely polite, yet down to earth without being at all stuffy. (Angelo was quite personable as well.) I can say without hesitation that I recommend this company. Everyone in our group (2 vans; 13 tourists) was very pleased with the service we received and told me numerous times that they really enjoyed the day.

I booked a tour for 4 people to see Mt. Etna and Taormina. The driver and guide were waiting for us as soon as we cleared the ship. The vehicle was large and quite comfortable. The driver was extremely polite and the guide very informatve. He pointed out interesting facts along the way and we surely saw more and spent less money that we woukd have had we booked through our cruise line. Taormina was a beautiful little town. The guide gave us free time there and recommended restaurants to try.I wish I could remember the name of the pastry shop where we had the best canoli ever. The photo will give an idea of how the pastry shop looks. Its worth a visit. They are excellent!! I would highly recommend Sicily Tours if you have a stop over in Sicily.

My husband and I are currently still on our first European vacation but felt the desire to write this review now instead of waiting until we got home, as Carmello was so wonderful. Gotta spread the word! He was friendly, informative, funny, and made you feel comfortable at all times. We had a full day tour from Carmello on our 1 year wedding anniversary, and we could not have spent the day any better. We went to Mt. Etna, a local winery (Gambino Winery, EXCELLENT), and Taormina. You can design your own itinery with Carmello. He allowed us to do everything at our own pace, meaning stay the most time at the winery, haha. However, he always made us aware of the day's plans/rec. timing for activities, while having a smile on his face. We received an outstanding impression of Sicily, and when we return, we will undoubtedly book again with Sicily Tours. Thank you, Carmello.

This one was all Kelly, and I could not have been more impressed. Carmello was there to pick us up on time, had a nice, clean, Mercedes waiting for us. As Kelly mentioned, he was a fantastic tour guide with intimate knowledge of the island. He spoke fluent English, told great stories and kept us informed at all times. A+

We hired Sicily Tours to drive us to Mt. Etna and Taormina. We arrived by cruise ship and was met at the Naxos port by their driver Leonardo. He was on time and provided a comfortable large car for the 4 of us. He spoke good English and provided an interesting history of the area as we drove for about an hour up to the top of Mt. Etna. He then drove back down the mountain to the town of Taormina. Here he dropped us off as cars cannot drive down the main street and agreed to met us at our convenience at the other end of town a couple of hours later. The day worked perfectly well and he dropped us off back at the port in plenty of time to get back on our cruise ship. The cost of 320 euros divided by 4 was far cheaper than going on the cruise ships tour at their inflated prices. Sicily tours had quoted 230 euros for 2 of us in a smaller car but we ended up sharing with another couple at a 100 euro increase. We are very happy to recommend Sicily Tours who provided a good service who did what we wanted when we wanted.

We had limited time but with Carmelo, our driver, we got to see some beautiful places in the Catania, Mt Etna and Taormina area. He was very knowledgable and a very nice person. We also asked to be taken to places and towns that had sentimental value to us and he was able to do this, no problem. He was a great help when my brother and family had him for a guide a month earlier. It's a bit pricey, but I highly recommend using this company. I would definitely use them again and asking for Carmelo. Thanks Carmelo !!!!
