About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- lhorgan2220 contributionsThoroughly enjoyed! We really enjoyed our time on the Addiopizzo No Mafia walking tour. Sylvia the guide was very passionate and informative. We covered a good amount of ground but at an easy pace and with plenty stops along the way.Written 18 September 2024
- 775NancyS0 contributionsAn Entertaining & Important Learning ExperienceOur guide, Linda, is clearly a dedicated anti “pizzo” (protection) advocate for Palermo entrepreneurs. Linda educated us at various significant locations while bringing the humanity of the situation to the forefront. She typically followed on with a little humour to lighten to mood. Following the walk she gave us an excellent lunch recommendation a little off the tourist path. We would highly recommend this tour for families with kids, say, 12 and up.Written 17 September 2024
- karenhF1366DC0 contributionsA fascinating insight into the impact of the Mafia on the Sicilian people. Our guide was clearly passionate about the need to fight against the Mafia influence in Sicily and illustrated the history and ongoing issues very well. It was an interesting tour but nearly 3 hours, much of it standing listening, was too much. Perhaps a stop at one of the supporters of the movement for a coffee break? The guide could continue conveying information but visitors could sit and enjoy a drink whilst listening? It would be interesting to chat to a business and get their view.Written 16 September 2024
- 715magdag0 contributionsGreat tourWe were at the English tour with Sofia, she was amazing guide, she told us so much in so little time, and I could understand Palermo little bit more thanks to herWritten 16 September 2024
- Roving3669960 contributionsNo Mafia Tour ExperienceAmazing tour. Valeria was an exceptional tour guide and so passionate. I credit her for all she is doing. Lovely lovely girl and the tour was very educational. I learned a lot!ot was fun also!Written 14 September 2024
- michellep2470 contributionsFascinating walk through historyOur Addiopizzo activist tour guide Linda was superb at walking our group through Sicily’s and more importantly Palermo’s “relationship” with the mafia. She walked us throughout the city, stopping at key spots where she provided a detailed account of the significance of the area and how the community has fought back against la Cosa Nostra and is winning. This was a phenomenal 50 year history lesson on the mafia, activists who started a grass roots movement and the judiciary who were brave to fight against organized crime. Highly recommend!Written 14 September 2024

- karenrH3677AG0 contributionsFascinating insight into change movementsWe had the most amazing tour with Veronica. We learnt so much about the history and the people leading the change movements in the different parts of Sicilian society. The tour is well paced, and interesting from start to finishWritten 7 September 2024
- BenjiandBruno D0 contributionsInformative and insightful info/tour on the mafiaVery knowlegable and personable guide- imparted a greater understanding of the mafia and it roots and reaches. The guide is a teacher as his usual "day job"and guides as well-Written 1 September 2024
- H9937NMsethm0 contributionsGood first day in PalermoSo glad we went on this tour our first day in Palermo, so that we had a better understanding of the local history while also getting acquainted with the neighborhoods. The tour was informative and engaging throughout.Written 1 September 2024
- Sightseer135026458490 contributionsNo Mafia TourThe tour is informative and educational. But if you’re looking for information about the buildings in Palermo, you won’t get any. What you will get is a really interesting 3hours of aspects of the Mafia. Not in a salacious manner but in a way to help you gain a degree of insight into a most complex form of generational systemic corruption. As a child of Sicily, Linda was an excellent guide who provided a considerable amount of information interspersed with childhood reflections. If you want to understand the courage behind the No Mafia efforts, I would highly recommend this tour.Written 29 August 2024
- alex_tries0 contributionsAmazing tour 😊Great tour ! 100% recommend 😊 Our tour guide Silvia was amazing told us everything about the history of Mafia and its impact on people and whole culture of Sicily . If you are staying for few days I highly recommend you take this tour on the beginning of your trip since the most important monuments are explained to you so the next time you’re walking by it’s got a different feel and impact.Written 26 August 2024

A riveting tour. The guide was passionate and knowledgeable about the subject and was great company, offering insights into the complex history of Corleone, the Mafia, and the history of Sicily and Italy that works to dispell the myths and Hollywood glamour that has wrongly been applied to an organisation still causing harm throughout the country. Highly recommended as the guide brings the true history to life in a way books and documentaries can't quite manage, but be sure to arrive at least ten minutes before the start of the tour and note that the round trip cost of the bus is in addition to the tour price.

Can’t say enough about this great tour. Very different because you take a city bus from Palermo to Corleone with the guide. Our guide ,Veronica, was very knowledgeable, friendly and a joy to spread the day with. She guided us around Corleone with excellent descriptions and explanations of the real Mafia. We visited a confiscated prior Mafia owned home that is now an educational center that features very moving art about the anti- Mafia movement. During the walk we also went to a beautiful waterfall area, such a surprise right in town. We finished the afternoon with a delicious lunch at another Mafia confiscated home that is now a restaurant- home cooked food from Mafia confiscated fields. Very memorable and different tour- highly recommended- fabulous job Veronica!!!

This was one of the best tours my wife and I have ever taken. Our tour guide Stefano was passionate and very informative. He did an amazing job and we wish we could have spent more than one day with him learning about the Sicilian people, the horrible actions of the Mafia and the resistant movement that has been going on almost as long as the existents of the Mafia.
I booked this tour online communicating with Francesca at Addiopizzo via email. Francesca was extremely helpful in arranging this tour for us. We were staying in Palermo without a car and she offered up several options to get us to Corleone for this tour. We opted to take the bus from Palermo which was only € 8,50/per person roundtrip. Luck would have it our guide Stefano was from Palermo and he met us at the bus pick-up point and made sure we got on the correct bus and off at the correct stop.
Stefano was beyond anything we expected from a guide. He is very captivating and extremely knowledgeable. From the moment we met him he began giving us his story and the story of the Sicilian people and their dealings with the Mafia.
When we arrived in Corleone, Stefano took us to a nearby park and began telling the history of the Mafia in Sicily, details about how the Mafia came to power and those who were the first pioneers to resist the control of the Mafia. The people who resisted the Mafia were very brave people most of whom gave their lives trying to help fight the Mafia and protect the people.
The tour then proceeded to the “Laboratory of Legality”. This was once the house of Bernardo Provenzano, one of the biggest and most feared mob bosses of all time. Bernardo's brother only lives a few houses away from the museum, so you can imagine how uncomfortable it must be for his brother and the anti-mafia group to operate in such close proximity. The house is now a museum/gallery with painting from the artist Gaetano Porcasi on display. His paintings depict the tragedy and the history of the anti-mafia movement over the years and is a great way to see how really tragic it has been for the people of Sicily.
I highly recommend this tour if you want to get a better understanding of what the Mafia really was and is today. Don't expect it to be portrayed as it is in the movies, it is far from that and much more tragic and not at all romantic.

Our tour guide (Linda) absolutely made this tour! She was very enthusiastic about explaining the history of the mafia and helping us to understand the reality of it all. We were a small group (4 of us tourists) which made it even more special since we could easily ask questions and get to know each other.
Corleone felt like a unique place and I would highly recommend visiting there. Although the bus ride there was bumpy and winding, the views and museum in Corleone were well worth the journey. I'll be telling my friends all about this tour and would encourage those interested in the subject and Sicilian history to go. It was one of the highlights of our trip.
