About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- pat_exe0 contributionsExcellent brief tour around CataniaWe were trying to decide where to go in Catania, as we didn't have much time on our hands. The lady at the desk was really helpful and explained all the different tours they offer, so we decided on the Catania bus tour for today. Not the best weather (to be expected in January), but still had a great experience learning about the history and seeing the seaside + architecture. To top it all off, Alfio was very friendly and helped to take some pictures for us, as well as quite a number of stops. We tried some fresh Sicilian lemons which were delicious. The one downside was the plastic sheeting covering the sides, but this is understandable due to the weather. So I'd highly recommend this tour, but make sure you come when the weather is nicer! e.g spring or summer. And don't forget to ask Alfio if you want to stop off somewhere!Written 14 January 2025
- Monterey-resident10 contributionsLosing chance of getting up to the top of the Mount EtnaThe tour started at 11:30 am and got to Mount Etna at around 1:30 pm when it was expected to be able to purchase tickets for two rides: the cable car and 4x4 bus to go to the top of the mount. Still, unfortunately, it was too late to purchase the 4X4 bus ticket and only the cable car ticket was available for sale up in the mount at the arrival time! The ticket sellers in the store already explained that there was enough time for the two rides away after the arrival time, but it was not so! Therefore, it is important not to take a late morning departure time; sadly the store ticket sellers are not honest with this!Written 3 January 2025
- RRogde0 contributionsWorst Bus ride ever!!We took the Catania get off get on bus. Absolutely the worst hop on/off bus experience we have ever had. For starters, on a beautiful day, we were puton an open air bus that had filthy plastic sheeting all around it at eye height. We couldn’t see anything. We got on at the cruise port and the driver was supposed to make 10 stops starting with the main square. Instead he hit the highway and raced Acicastello and then raced back town with absolutely no stops. He claimed the roads had been closed by t police but none of the other buses had the same issues or the plastic sheeting. We demanded our money back but we’re told to just get on another bus. AS IF!!!Written 7 November 2024
- donam9340 contributionsA great tour!Stayed in Catania just 2 days so we had no time for a long tour. We took a hop on hop off to Aci Trezza. The bus was perfect in time, not crowded and especially the guide Alfio was very friendly, profesional, available, and ready to help us for everything we asked. Highly recommend. Grazie Alfio!Written 30 October 2024
- unddine_130 contributionsExcellent tourist trips outside Catania! We had a very limited time in Catania so looked for good tourist buses. We used a trip from Catania- Marzamemi- Noto- Ortigia. We were very pleased that they found 2 places for the next day trip very fast and we basically had a whole bus to ourselves- a private tour. Yes,maybe time was limited in Ortigia, but we managed to take a boat trip in that 1.5h time and all was good. Our driver Simona was a very good driver and waited for us extra time, when our boat trip exceeded the tour time, and we returned to the car 10min later. These tours are not that cheap but a very good deal if you want to see a lot in a short time. They only include driver expenses, for all other things in cities you have to pay. Would recommend, though!Written 18 October 2024
- LisaG1670 contributionsDON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME!!!!!What a joke! This is NOT a hop on hop off bus. It's an 80-minute "tour" drive with ONE 10-minute stop even though the map shows 11 stops. There was a stop we were looking forward to seeing, it was noted as a stop on the included map, but the driver did not stop. When I arrived back I went to the office where I bought the ticket to talk to the woman who sold the ticket about the lack of stops. She told me if I wanted to get off I needed to let the driver know. I asked her exactly how I would do that? There was no way to notify the driver other than yelling in an open-air bus. I couldn't believe she actually said that. She offered me the train ride but what was the point, I could walk to the areas where the little train went.Written 1 October 2024
- K3642MKjosephv0 contributionsDisaster Hop on Hop OffTook a hop on hop off with Tourist Service Catania. We stopped at Aci Castello, and when we went back to the bus stop, there were over 50 people waiting, and some were in a very bad mood, as to wait for more than an hour in the sun is no joke. Seems that this company is used to telling customers a bus will arrive in 10 minutes. It spoilt our short cruise stay in Catania, as then we were in no mood to stop in Catania for shopping or looking around. I might as well had taken a bus to Aci Trezza, as all I did was go to Aci Castello, walk to Aci Trezza, and than wait for over an hour in the sun to get back to the ship. I think this company should be investigated.Written 5 September 2024
- mgvc0 contributionsTourist Bureau does not accept any complaints!I complained to "Tourist Dream" about an awful, over-priced, badly managed tour of theirs to Syracuse, Ortigia, and Noto (I have separately reviewed this on Tripadvisor). They did not respond. I wrote again, including an Italian language version and still I had no reply. I then decided to write to the tourist bureau of the Commune of Catania, in which "Tourist Dream" has several outlets. The reply I got, after two, attempts was insulting. I was told it was nothing to do with them, and - in a rude tone - that I should not email them again. They clearly do not accept any complaints or responsibility. This soured my holiday experience, which was otherwise excellent. I will not be visiting Catania again!Written 19 August 2024
- mgvc0 contributions"Tourist Dream" company produced a nightmareAt each stop, the driver gave virtually no information on arrival other than the time for departure. We were left to find our own way and guess where to go and what was available. The worst thing was at the last stop, Noto. We were dropped by the roadside and told to go back to that spot for collection at a specified time. The town was very busy and hugely crowded because there was a procession underway. This prevented us getting beyond the market/car park. The procession was so long and slow-moving that we could not get into the town beyond the car park and market in the time available. We were prevented from seeing the architecture and buildings because we could not get through the dense crowds – we tried, but it was dangerously and oppressively crowded, particularly considering our age and stature. While it was an experience to see the procession this was not the purpose of the visit. We should have been told that we would not be able to get into the town and experience what is printed in the brochure. To go to Noto just to visit a small market is not what we paid for. And the disappointment did not stop there. We waited at a busy and bustling roadside for more than an hour over the time we were told to get to the departure point before the coach arrived – and had to get on the coach in the middle of the road in heavy traffic. The driver knew the traffic was busy and should have left from his parking place to the pick-up point early enough to be on time, not over one hour late. We had no apology whatsoever. Waiting in the heat for that time was dreadful customer service. I am 85 years old and the wait – in such heat, with the nearby café closed – was very distressing for me.Written 19 August 2024
- C8773FTjoc0 contributionsOverpriced and awful drivingOverpriced for what it was, considering you then have to pay 16,50€ entrance for the neapolis and 20€ for the boat trip (which was the best part but we saw it advertised elsewhere for 10€). We were left with very little time in Ortigia which was a shame as that was the main reason we took the trip. The driver drove way too fast, mostly over 140km/h and ignored requests from other passengers to slow down. If you want to kill yourself then fine, but if your job involves being responsible for the safety of paying passengers, then you need to respect that. Save your money and take the train, cheaper and safer.Written 23 June 2024

- 344ermam0 contributionsAcitrezzaThe tour was great. Even though the tour was 80 minutes we spent almost 2 hours because the driver was very kind to wait for us to take photos. Also the guy in the photo below explained us the whole tour before buying the ticket. He was very kind, helpful and friendly.Written 6 June 2024

- KMLamm0 contributionsTaormina Tour with FamilyAlfio was our wonderful tour guide for our trip to Taormina, etc. Alfio was friendly, professional and a very safe driver. We missed the bus tour option and he was available to drive our family in a van up into the beautiful mt top town of Taormina. Highly recommended going to see a different side of Sicily. We had lunch at a restaurant sitting outside that over looked the ocean and Mt. Edna, the weather was beautiful it was fantastic. Alfio took pictures of us with the beautiful backdrop of mt Edna. He would also stop and point of scenic viewpoints we might’ve otherwise missed. I recommend also the steps with the stations of the cross to the top of Taormina. We came across it by chance and even my teenagers noted how beautiful it was. Taking a second tour today with this company to Syracuse on our last day in Sicily. These tours made our trip extra memorable. Thank you. XxWritten 19 December 2023
- Chuck B0 contributionsWorth visiting!Good experience, fascinating places to visit, but seemed rushed. Not enough to time to explore and no time for lunch. I would recommend highly , but be prepared with snacks and water.Written 23 November 2023

The trip was advertised as a Montalbano tour. We visited one site which the driver had difficulty finding. Every time we stopped subsequently it was not connected to Montalbano. The driver could not speak English. He chose where we went for lunch and suggested a tourist train ride round the town. The company had agreed to drop two Australian couples off at their hotel which the driver couldn't find so we arrived back in Catania at about 7.30 instead of 6pm. When I complained in the office I was told that Montalbano was just the name of the tour -which was exactly why we chose it. There were several other Montalbano trips advertised so we believe the company is deliberately misleading tourists to get the bookings. The girl in the office told my wife no refund was available because we had seen the house and the rest of the trip was to see the General area and not to visit specific locations. If we had known this we would not have booked it. As a side issue because the driver acted as the personal taxi for the Australian couples and made us very late our taxi driver had to wait for 90 minutes to drive us back to our hotel
