Michelangelo's David Tour
From US$51.79
Discover the legends and legacy one of the world’s most famous works of art on a 1-hour tour devoted entirely to Michelangelo’s magnificent ‘David’ sculpture. On a visit to Florence’s Accademia Gallery, learn about the man behind the masterpiece, as well as the sculpture’s inspiration and commission during the peak of the Renaissance. Save time and beat the crowds with reserved entry into one of the city’s most popular museums.
What to Expect
Meet your expert tour guide at our office in central Florence. From here you will walk with your small group to the Accademia to learn about what is arguably the greatest artwork ever created, the majestic and mysterious David. On the only tour entirely dedicated to this masterpiece, discover the peculiar history behind the statue, its stone and its artist, how the figure of the David was chosen, and why Michelangelo’s statue held such importance to the Florentines and their city, the epicentre of the Renaissance. Discover the debate about where to place the statue and how this influenced the figure’s formation.
Much debate has been raised about the moment in which David is depicted. Hear the theories and draw your own conclusions on the pensive young man portrayed. Equally mysterious is the artist behind the David’s creation.
Learn about the Michelangelo’s peculiarities and dichotomies. Find out about the Medici’s involvement in Michelangelo’s development and the artist’s relationship with other famous artists of the time.
This small-group Accademia tour also includes an introduction to Michelangelo’s other works housed inside the Accademia that provide great insight into how this master artist worked, bringing forth seemingly-incarnate figures from hardened stone.
With pre-reserved Accademia tickets included for the fastest possible entry to the museum with Florence’s best guides, this is the perfect way to see (and understand) Michelangelo’s David.

I guess I didn't read the tour description closely enough. Our tour was to the Accademia Museum, which is not a very big museum, but the guide only talked about David for 90 minutes. It was like the rest of the museum did not exist....More
