- In the early morning, you’ll head to Piazza San Marco to meet your guide and head straight inside Florence’s Accademia Gallery with your skip-the-line ticket. Make your way straight to the masterpiece of Michelangelo’s David, and hear how the statue came to symbolize the Florentine Republic, before you admire the artist’s unfinished I Prigioni works. Stroll onward to the Baptistery to learn about the Medici, the de facto rulers of Renaissance Florence—many of whom were baptized in the monument. After admiring the baptistery from the outside, you'll finish on a high note as you skip the lines and ascend to the duo, which are often closed to the public. Then, climb a little further, if you wish to reach the top. Your guided tour ends at the terraces.

About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- William W0 contributionsExcellent small group tourThe tour was a small group (12) which some tours are 30-40. Marco was excellent. Shared history of the area, customs of the locals, and great places to eat at. Being a small group was nice to meet other people from around the world. Made for a fun evening. Highly recommend.Written 2 November 2024
- cutefrenchhouse0 contributionsThe perfect introduction to food and the OltrarnoI can't say enough good things about this tour. I went to Florence with three college friends, and the tour of the Oltrarno was a highlight of our trip: fun, entertaining, and completely delicious. Marco, our guide, was charming and delightful. We were very happy that we visited small, interesting places -- this was *not* one of those food tours that packs groups into cheesy tourist spots. We learned so much, and the other people in our group were friendly as well. I would not hesitate to recommend this to other travelers -- or do it again!Written 31 October 2024
- G6857PXalinaa0 contributionsSmell of Florence!I really enjoyed the tour, getting to know Florentine cuisine, our guide Chiara, who with knowledge and humor dedicated us to interesting details of the life of Italians, as well as historical moments. Delicious wines, real Florentine steak and many other amazing things awaited us on this tour. This is an experience that you definitely want to repeat🙏Written 30 October 2024
- bouchji0 contributionsAppreciating DavidOur guide was very personable and knowledgeable. We enjoyed the tour but next time would book a smaller group. 18 people was quite large to keep track of everyone and needed headsets.Written 29 October 2024
- KathyS32910 contributionsPerfect tour to Start your Florence ExperienceExcellent tour and knowledgeable guide! This is a good tour to start your visit in Florence and to see the main highlights. Highly recommend to have a good introduction to the city!Written 29 October 2024
- alexandrasO6551PB0 contributionsNice TourAlma was knowledgeable and passionate about art and gave wonderful insight into the creation of Michaelangelo's David, as well as the progression of art over time. However, the tour's description sounded like we would go to more places rather than having a concentrated art lesson. Overall it was fabulous, but one of my friends was bored.Written 28 October 2024
- crisismusicblog0 contributionsExceptionalLucia was knowledgeable, engaging and fun. She was truly superb! We loved everything about this tour. Seeing this art up close and in person was a highlight of my life.Written 28 October 2024
- Bazzajo10 contributionsInteresting and informative - but rushedIt was a good tour, informative and interesting. It felt a bit rushed, we had hardly any time in accademia - a quick look at David and one other room then dashed off; likewise cathedral, just a quick look inside. Would have been good to see more of each of these. But it was very interesting nevertheless.Written 28 October 2024
- AnnaN9480 contributionsStunningAmazing experiences being on top of the Duomo and almost alone. Our guide Giada was extremely knowledgeable, sweet, and able to explain everything in a clear and simple way. Being on top of the city is breath-takingWritten 27 October 2024
- kbemje0 contributionsToo much detail ruins the tourThe guide was extremely knowledgeable. She spent too much time (25 minutes) in front of one sculpture or painting going into way too much detail therefore missed seeing all the art works. Finally the four of us abandon the tour at Tuffzi Museum. She did not have a stick with a flag so guests would know where she was. It caused issues. She was very nice and personable.Written 26 October 2024
- Edtrip300 contributionsA wonderful afternoonOur guide was extremely knowledgeable and gregarious. She made the experience pleasant and highly informative. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting the city.Written 25 October 2024
- Wanderer7528200 contributionsGreat TourGreat tour. Passed the lines and walked right into the museum and Duomo. Guide was very knowledgeable and kept us on time. Excellent tour! Thank you.Written 23 October 2024
- Neil P0 contributionsExcellent well paced tour.We thoroughly enjoyed this tour, the three hours flew by. The tour guide, Angelo, was full of knowledge about the history of the city and the main topics of the statue of David and the Duomo, he managed to talk for the full three hours and I’m sure could have gone on for three hours more.Written 22 October 2024
- elizzledizzle0 contributionsknowledgeable guideI loved how our guide provided in-depth context, not only about the history and symbolism of the artwork but also the techniques and technical details—exactly what we were hoping for. While I knew we'd only cover the highlights, I was surprised at some of the pieces we skipped (which just shows how much art there is!) I wish the tour ended at the museum w/out David since there's so much to see at the other!Written 20 October 2024
- Pioneer649157632270 contributionsWorth the cost.Brenda was an excellent guide. She was interactive, knowledgeable and passionate about the David sculpture and the paintings.Written 20 October 2024

Maya, our tour guide was wonderful. I would have given a better review, but the tour started late. We bought tickets for 8:30 am skip the line for David at the Accademia. The tour organizer and guides all came late. We didn’t get into the museum till 9. So our time was limited because we also went to the Duomo and climbed up to the terraces and cupola. Everything as on a schedule so we had less time at Accademida in order to make the schedule. At $165 per person for 2.5 -3 hours, and starting kate, was pricey. Maya was great, very knowledgeable and interesting. We did tip her, it was not her fault they were late.

Both guides, Chris and Mr B ( sorry I could not pronounce his name. He’s a jolly guy who loves Anerican football) were both fantastic. Chris is very knowledgeable about the arts and art history and Mr B about the history of the Doumo and Florentine noble families.
Chris elucidation of Michaelangelo, his talents in sculpting, painting and architecture ; his relationship with other Renaissance greats were illuminating and informative. My only grouse is that we did not have time to see much of the Academia other than David’s sculpture and a few of Michaelangelo’s non-finito works.
The climb up to the dome is exhilarating and at times breathless BUT should be tried and done while one is able. The view on the inside terrace of the dome’s painting of Inferno is amazing and one gets to go 2/3 round the dome.
It's another 200 odd steps up to the top of the dome. It's steep and very doable. The 360 view at the top of the dome is awesome.

Our tour guide took her time and was generous in answering questions....going over the allotted time.I could tell she was very knowledgeable. She has traveled the world with long stints in Paris and New York, studying art, piece by piece. She was very friendly and helped us find the exit at the end. This is a good tour for adults and older teens. My 18 year old was ok bilit I'm glad my 15 year old wasn't with us or he would've been complaining 😅

Firstly, this is the first time I have had a tour guide for anything and I was a little bit hesitant booking it as I’ve always preferred to do things on my own however we thought we’d try something a little bit different to see what the guided tours were all about. Today we had Matt/Mattheus as the tour guide and what an amazing guide he was. Matt provided so much incredible insight into the Micheal Angelo Sculptures as well as the Duomo which added so much more value to the experience as without him we probably would have saw these things and stared blankly at them without the deeper understanding that Matt provided. On top of this it was clear to see how incredibly passionate Matt was about these topics which was awesome and it really helped to get us engaged and thinking about the experience as a whole. Huge thank you to Matt for the experience he provided us with today and I will be booking (hopefully with Matt) again in the Future with no hesitation.

The tour was every bit as impressive as advertised. The tour exceeded expectations due to our incredible tour guide, Angelo! He took this entire experience to a completely different level! The words I would use to describe this experience: moving, spiritual, educational, and inspiring. Angelo’s passion and obvious love for his work and for the content of this experience were present in everything we heard and and saw. He seemed to genuinely care about each person on the tour and wanted to make sure we had a great time! Well done and BRAVO to Angelo!!

Seeing the David and other works of art in the Accademia is a must do when in Florence, and early entry made that a good experience. It was still crowed, so I can't imagine what it would have been like if we were there later in the day. The highlight of the tour is the Duomo. You will climb 400+ steps in a very tight space, but getting to walk along the walkway on the roof of the Duomo, seeing the frescos on the inside of the dome up close, and the views from on top of the dome are well worth the effort. Our guide gave us great information and was easy to understand.

Can't remember the name of my guide but he was extremely knowledgeable about all the art work and gave some great information about florence in general. Answered all questions very well and was passionate about the art and giving everyone a great experience.
The only thing I'd say is that the pace set by the guide going up and down the duomo was a tad quick for my liking but I guess he's probably used to it doing it every day!!
Overall I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone going to florence

I think our guide’s name is Charles and he was very knowledgeable. Definitely worth it to go with a guide otherwise we would just be admiring the beauty of the art and architecture with no context unless you know the history. The tour was just at the right pace and the right amount of information. We climbed up to the dome and was rewarded with a spectacular view!

Your course will be academy museum and we can climb duomo. Terrace will be top of the duomo right?

The terrace was halfway up the Dome. The guide left us on our own after that to climb to the top of the dome on our own for as long as you want.

Since the guide will get us out of the Accademia post visiting David to get into Duomo, can we re-enter the Accademia with the same ticket?
Written 9 September 2018
No, you can't. You go on to tour parts of Florence and, as I recall, the Bapistry and the outside of the Duomo. I suppose you could skip the rest of the tour and stay in the Accademia?
