Traveling finally, after covid, had been a blessing and a privilege. I didn't think anything could make my honeymoon any better for my wife and I until we did two Tours with Walkabout, the Pizza & Gelato class and the full day Cinque Terre tour.

Gloria, Luigi, Thomas, thank you so very very much for not only educating us through the pizza and Gelato class but for also helping facilitate such a fun and interactive time between all of the participants. You brought out the best in all the people attending and made this a BEYOND memorable experience. You're knowledge, customer service, and passion for your craft flows through you so naturally and joyfully that we will now proceed to judge not just all other tour guides but also other Italians against the bar that you have set.

The autonomy of the the day trip led by Chris was a breath of fresh air from the typical guided tours. Your team has really hit the lottery with how you've managed to put together such a great tour whilst also allowing the amount of freedom we had. More than that was how impressively Chris and Aldo managed to keep the entire group of 65 people coordinated and organized and on schedule. Truly impressive and only possible if you really know what you're doing.

If you're considering booking anything with WalkAboutTours, do not hesitate. If the other guides are anything like Gloria, Luigi, Thomas, Chris or Aldo, you will have a memorable experience and be glad you trusted this review!

Thank you again for making our honeymoon so memorable.

Your friends from Vancouver, Canada

We had the most enjoyable experience with Lavinia Thomas and Luigi - such charismatic expert chefs who made the whole experience entertaining and fun and we can’t recommend the tour highly enough.
The ‘farmhouse’ is actually a purpose built professional kitchen but it was perfect for the course and the views over the Tuscan hills didn’t disappoint.
It was perfect to be able to eat the amazing pizza’s we made accompanied by a glass of Chianti Classico to round off the Tuscan experience and the gelato we made was definitely the best I have ever had.
We were 3 families from 3 different parts of Europe meeting in Florence for a family vacation and Lavinia and Thomas and the team were very kind to keep us together for a joint fun experience.
Our teenage kids wholeheartedly agreed it was the best part of our Florence Easter Holiday!
And a big shout out to Julia and Irena the hardworking assistants who kept everything clean and tidy.

This tour, and more importantly the people who worked the tour made our experience totally amazing! From beginning to end, Gloria, Luigi and Thomas made everyone feel welcome and inspired to make amazing pizza and extraordinary Gelato. They really made the group feel comfortable with the instruction given, the hands on portion, up to the time when we got to eat and enjoy the fruits of our labor! From Gloria’s passion for having us know what the essence of Gelato is, to Thomas’ and Luigi’s fun hearted and humorous method of pizza making, it helped to make this experience a highlight of our Florence vacation. We will definitely recommend this tour, these instructors and when, not if, we are in Italy again, we will definitely consider booking this tour again!

Everyone involved in this experience was friendly and personable, from the greeter taking us to the van to the staff at the farm house and of course the instructors. It was well organized and really fun! We had a larger group but we still got personal attention from Max (gelato expert, funny face maker, and chemistry teacher) and Luigi (pizza expert and dough flipping choreographer) who each have their own ways of making this an informative yet also amusing and sometimes silly experience. Because it was a larger group we had some down time while waiting to make our pizzas which was filled with enjoying a glass of wine, taking in the beautiful views, and getting to know others in the group who had come from the U.S., the U.K., and Norway.

If your looking for an incredibly fun time and laughs that make your stomach hurt then you must take the pizza/gelato class in Florence with Luca, Luigi, and Max, the alchemist. We were a party of nine, ranging in ages from 11 to 75 plus a auntie with a sprained ankle and we were treated incredibly! Dinner was set against beautiful Tuscan views on a breathe taking property about 15 minutes from the city. All three hosts were very entertaining and funny they made our time go by so quickly we were all upset when we had to leave (5 hours later!).

Classes were entertaining and we got to make delicious pizza - we made the dough, created our own master pieces and got to enjoy it with wine and gelato (we made lemon, strawberry and).

Gelato class: learned a lot, able to choose our own flavors and for background on used liquid nitrogen to freeze it.

Hands down my favorite most memorable part of our 9 day trip to Italy! I enjoy cooking and was a such nice quality time together, and so different from museums, nice hands on experience. Plus they email you all the gelato recipes and pizza recipe for you to make at home, we have already made three types of gelato since being home, nice to take part of Italy home with us and share with our family. If you are in Florence, book a cooking class with Walkabout, the farmhouse was amazing and had a beautiful view over Florence.

You meet at the Walkabout Florence office and then take about a 10 minute walk to meet the bus, and the farmhouse is only about a 15 minute drive away, and then walk about 5/10 minutes to reach the farmhouse. It was raining the day we were there, and Cris met us at the bus with umbrellas for anyone that needed one. Our teachers were Cris, Luca, and Luigi, and my husband and I had a class with a family of 5 from Canada and a couple on their honeymoon from California. We all had an amazing time! We started with gelato with Cris, learned the makeup of having the proper balance of liquid, solid, fats, and sugars to make the perfect recipe. We each made a different flavor, and then later we got to try all the varieties, best gelato we had in Italy and we had a ton. We then got to make pizza dough with Luigi and Luca, learning the steps and art of making the crust. And then each of us making our own pizza with whatever toppings and then watching it cook in like 90 seconds in the wood oven outside! We all then ate our pizzas together followed by gelato time and Cris recommend a bunch of different toppings pair with certain flavors of the gelato.

My husband who was not sure about a cooking class loved it, best pizza he has ever had and now wants to build our own pizza oven at home. And the sausage, oh my gosh best sausage we have ever had, wish we could have brought some of it back to Wisconsin with us. Plus we have been making at least one batch of gelato every week now as a a family, especially with us all at home during this weird Covid 19 world pandemic.

Cris, Luca, and Luigi were amazing teachers, and everyone just loves Luca, he will have you laughing for the whole class!

Honestly cannot recommend this company and class enough.

Wow! All of us at Walkabout are so grateful for this awesome review. Cris will love to see that you have been making gelato every week and Luca and Luigi will be thrilled to know that you are planning to build your own pizza oven. Keep enjoying all the recipes and come and see us again :) Kind Regards Walkabout

Spending an evening with Max, Luca and Luigi in Tuscany was so much fun! After meeting at the meeting point in Florence, our family of 5 was sent by taxi (a covid safety measure?) to the farm house a few minutes away with beautiful views of Tuscany. After a short walk down to the garden, we were served wine and focaccia and then we got to work in the kitchen. Max instructed us on choosing our gelato flavors and taught us about the gelato making process. While our gelato bases chilled, we got a dough making lesson from Luca and Luigi. Making delicious pizza dough is not easy! While our dough "rested" we went back to the kitchen to start churning our gelato. While the gelato churned, Luca and Luigi were back with properly rested dough(24 hours rest is what pizza dough needs). After making pizza sauce, all the participants got their own dough to shape and top with a beautiful selection of toppings. Luigi cooked the individual pizzas in a wood burning oven and they were delicious! We enjoyed our dinner in a glass walled dining room overlooking the scenic hills. After our pizza dinner, Max was back with our ready to eat gelato and an assortment of flavorful toppings like red salt and balsamic vinegar. After 14 months of covid time cooking at home, cooking with Max, Luca and Luigi was a welcome treat! If you are in Florence and want to take a fun cooking class, this one is a winner!

This was such a fun experience. It’s not that far outside of Florence and gives a spectacular view!

Max Luigi and Thomas were all so great in joking and keeping things fun as well as educating us on tje process of pizza and gelato making. If you want a break from museums and looking at painting this is a great half day activity to attend and lowkey the best pizza I ate in my week stay in Italy lol

Lavi, Luigi, and Thomas were wonderful! Fantastic teachers. We learned so much and had a lot of fun. I loved the details and tips they gave us, they explained things so well and made it so much fun. From the very start where we were greeted with a glass of wine and something to eat the event flowed perfectly, never rushed. All our questions were answered and we left feeling that not only did we have a lot of fun, but we learned something that we can do at home. And as promised, all the recipes were emailed to us. We would highly recommend doing this.
