- benjaminwolf0 contributionsExcellence!Absolutely excellent museum. Enjoyable for adults and children. There were scooters for kids to get around the buildings. Awesome exhibits, both traditional and interactive. Definitely worth the trip!Written 31 January 2025
- 834fif0 contributionsA great visitThis is our third visit to this museum. It’s a great place where we can easily spend the whole day with our children. We’ve previously been in warmer months and spent a lot of our time outside in the play areas but as it was colder we decided to spend more time indoors this time round. There’s plenty of chances for the children to be hands on with exhibits and we found plenty of boards translated into English. We also included the Lindt experience which is both informative and enjoyable so that the children actually listened to what was being said. They particularly liked the chocolate at the end! There’s a fairly good cafe on site for lunch and the bus and train stops directly outside so easy to get to from central Lucerne if you didn’t fancy the walk. We would definitely return if we were in the area again.Written 5 January 2025
- montytreacle0 contributionsMore than a transport museumThis is more than a transport museum, it covers associated engineering as well. Trains, planes, satellites, helicopters, cars, some boats and even play roadworks. This is a must for boys and girls of all ages, with lots of hands on exhibits, most of which worked. Not sure we could take it all in within one visit. It would be better to allow free re-entry within a few days. That being said, although expensive, it was enlightening and enjoyable. It’s so nice not being bothered by unruly British children. This Swiss are so well behaved, much as British children were 50 years ago.Written 26 September 2024
- NJR_DC0 contributionsGreat musuemWhile expensive, this museum is fantastic. I particularly enjoyed the large exhibits on aircraft, ships, and railroads. There was also a neat section on logistics. This museum appears to have made a big effort to appeal to multiple age groups, including a transportation-themed playground in the middle of the museum. The cafeteria and cafe were both nice too.Written 23 September 2024
- Nav7160 contributionsA good day out but room for improvementI uses to go the Transport Museum as a child and so was excited to take my own son there. Overall it was a good experience with lots of grea things to see and do, but there was some room for improvement. Its fairly pricey, some of the exhibits descriptions had not been updated for a while, many things were just in German. Did not like the Red Bull exhibit glorifying Max Verstappen's 2021 title victory while completely ignoring the controversy behind it. Though it was also a bit much to pay to ride the miniature railway given the price of admission. Also they used to have back in the day some fun remote control cars and boats which they took away, although I did like some of the new additions like the handcar train. Still would recommend a visit but they have some work to do and should be cheaper.Written 22 September 2024
- bramesh320 contributionsGood informativeIt is worth to visit. Both educational and interesting as well. We can learn the past and present as well. Children must visit. Whole day you can spend easily.Written 19 September 2024
- kdtinek0 contributionsCool placeCool place. A lot of things to do and see. Half a day can be easily spent. For the younger and the older. Looks fun for those that know things and those that don'tWritten 30 August 2024
- amysT674AB0 contributionsRecommendedHuge and well laid out. My sons (12 and 15) particularly loved it. Not super crowded. We enjoyed the chocolate exhibit, and had tasty Indian food at the cafe.Written 18 August 2024
- FF130 contributionsA large and comprehensive museumWe visited this museum on our return trip to Lucerne from St. Gallen. The train we took stopped right outside the museum. This is a large and comprehensive museum dedicated to all things transit in Switzerland. The displays are excellent and the exhibits are very detailed. It has a large section devoted to children. The day we visited, the kids out numbered the adults but they were certainly having fun in the many hands-on exhibits. We still had to pay for admission (discounted) despite having Swiss Passes. When we departed, we walked to the lido and took a lake boat back to Lucerne.Written 4 July 2024
- SagarSavla0 contributionsKids loved it. Adults mixed feelingsDid Swiss transport museum yesterday. We spent whole day there. Some pointers to help. 1. We got day pass for 4 and museum only for 4. If you buy day pass you will want to spend entire day to make it worth it 2. days pass gives you access to 3 extra things. Swiss chocolate tour, film theater and planetarium. 3. swiss chocolate tour sit in the 1st row. You get to grab chocolates. Also do this early in the day. After 2:30 pm they stopped the ride or was by reservation only 4. film and planetarium shows also plan based on time. They have d/f/i/e written against the show name. If e is theee it means English translation is available. Get English translation headphones at the entrance before you enter the theatre/planeterium 5. museum is made of multiple buildings. Space one was the best and the space walk was the most interesting ride. Media center was the 2nd best where you do some VR rides. It’s for 12+ age child. It is also included in museum entry. 6. there were some rides outside in open which were open in the morning but then it started raining so it stopped. 7. you can enter and exit the museum multiple times. Just keep the ticket with you as you have to scan the QR code 8. most shows last start time is 4:00 pm so if you want to see them would recommend start day early Overall kids loved it and we left when they almost closed. Adults was mixed views depending on whether you like to read and do the activities. Hope this helps.Written 22 June 2024
- 54MikeM0 contributionsThe only museum we visited on our short visit to Switzerland and we are glad we did.Three hours was not enough. Every part of the museum was worth extra time. We have to go back! Our initial interest was in the aviation and space portion but we were just as pleased with the automobiles and trains.Written 26 May 2024
- merryheartsg0 contributionsOne of the best museums in SwitzerlandVery interesting and educational for both adults & kids. We got to experience the past, present & future of various modes of transportation in Switzerland. The museum is notably Switzerland’s most visited museum including rail, road, water navigation and aviation. Kids can spend the whole day here participating in different educational activities.Written 11 May 2024
- BCKC8260 contributionsA good , informative day out for all the family.A good day out. The museum has a lot to see and do for all generations. Ticket prices are a little bit expensive especially if you want to add the planetarium and the film shows, but both are worth adding. There is also a cafe and a coffee / bar fir refreshments.Written 7 May 2024
- 475andrewe0 contributionsGreat Museum in SwitzerlandA tremendous museum of transportation and science bout Switzerland. I spent my most time in the aviation and railway portions. The aviation museum is fascinating and fun - great coverage of the history of air travel in the last century, with the best parts on 1950's and 1960's travel. Railway section also very good, with an emphasis on locomotives. A good days visit.Written 28 September 2023
- peterg6760 contributionsA disappointing experience (but the kids seem to love it)I'm a car guy. I love anything about cars, so how could I not go to the Swiss Museum of Transport? I was disappointed. There are pavilions devoted to cars, planes, trains, boats--but the exotic/interesting cars were mostly on a multistory display along a wall. Random cars would be brought down by robots for us to see--but from afar, with no history, context or detail. I actually found the display about planes to be most interesting, inclusive of a candid discussion of the tumultuous history of the Swiss airline industry. The exhibits are kid friendly--very kid friendly, and the children were everywhere. They seemed to have a good time. This adult would skip the museum.Written 24 September 2023

It’s about 20 minutes. You meander through some well designed and engaging exhibitions / videos of the chocolate making business / history of chocolate. It’s fine. But hugely overpriced. We paid 18 CHF per person. Yes it is Switzerland. But still…it was just about ok.

We had a great experience at the Swiss Chocolate Adventure Experience at the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne. Visitors quite literally get transported through the history of chocolate and the Lindt brand in a chocolate carriage. Each display room/area is a visual delight and in one of the rooms, guests are a gifted a small surprise. An affordable attraction among a host of other exciting activities at the museum. Great for families.

Looks into ‘Logistics’ in Switzerland. A good small collection of Swiss aviation aircraft, some you can enter. A section on space, trains and cars.
COVID compliant. Food is cafeteria style, but this could be due to restaurants being closed.
What a Swiss chocolate experience has to do with transportation is beyond me other than pure commercialism.
Lots of stuff for kids to do.
Expect to pay Swiss prices.

Unfortunately, there were technical problems, so one station was skipped. You also got 2 pieces of chocolate. It's not an experience... it's much cheaper and you get a lot more at the Lindt Museum in Thalwil! Also, bad video quality and a broken TV in the lift

The adventure itself is quite enjoyable, with interesting facts and captivating scenery. However, the subsequent chocolate tasting experience leaves much to be desired. It took place in a souvenir store, and the lady in charge on that particular day appeared to harbor a strong aversion towards people. Accompanied by my friend and her son, we encountered a rather unpleasant incident when the boy expressed his interest in sampling the chocolate. The lady, visibly annoyed, curtly inquired if we were members of the 'Chocolate Adventure'. Even after confirming our membership, she promptly turned her back on us and resumed explaining the nuances of chocolate to other visitors. Such disregard, particularly towards a child, is utterly unacceptable.

Snippets of info about chocolate presented while moving though the attraction in a tilt-a-wheel seat. Would have gotten more out of watching a YouTube video and buying a case of Lindt chocolates for that price. Oh, they did give you ONE Lindt truffle at the end. Not worth it.

Jun 19: Once done with the museum, take the Chocolate adventure. They made the journey from the cocoa to the chocolate as an amazing journey telling about the relevant things. It will take less than 30 mins but an experience for sure. They take you around in a cup-saucer like train inside and tell you the history. End it with shopping at the Lindt shop. Heavenly

It is like a small show but not not really worthy. They charge 18 CFH, but attractive. It is just a small video clips.. Better to visit to the chocolate manufacturing plants, where you will get a more change to learn and teste some good cholates as well.

All in all, a nice idea, well implemented and very entertaining. If it weren't for the completely neglected technology in the Swiss Technology Museum. Lots of projectors are used here. The bulbs in many of them have been in there for far too long and only give off a dim light. But the worst are those that have not been focused. The prisms on the WUXGA 3LCD Panasonic projectors are sometimes warped. Such projectors will never produce a good image again. The question remains: WHY? Who is responsible for this? - You could do better - TRANSPORTATION MUSEUM!!!

We enjoyed the ride learning about how chocolate is made and of course the free samples at the end. Apparently there is a tasting with a chocolatier but it was going to be an hour and a half later so we didn't stay.. Maybe they could have it sooner after the first rides through. Also enjoyed shopping at the Lindt store there!

Hello, do we need to buy museum tickets on top of chocolate adventure tickets, if we only wants to experience chocolate adventure ?
Written 2 June 2019
No, you don't. You can simply enter the main foyer and purchase the tickets for the chocolate exhibition.
