About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- E8483UTjillr0 contributionsDisappointed With Yo ToursI would not recommend Yo Tours. When we set up this tour, we asked for an English speaking guide. Our guide’s English was extremely limited. She was not at the agreed upon meeting place, which caused us to loose about 45 minutes of our tour time. She was not knowledgeable about the area and actually pointed to signs for us to read about sites. Due to her lack of knowledge of the area and the tour itinerary, she brought us to the wrong pier for the included Lake Lucerne boat tour. We had to run to the correct pier so we didn’t miss the boat. Calls to Yo Tours for assistance were not fruitful. The Lake Lucerne boat tour was very nice- book it separately- don’t use Yo Tours!Written 9 October 2024
- karenhA7525DI0 contributionsYo Tours should not give walking toursThe walking tour was to begin at the clock tower in Lucerne at 3:00pm on 9 September 2024. We were there on time. We later found out our guide was given instructions to meet at a different location near the clock tower. The 7 people in our tour actually walked by her as we were trying to find our guide. After going back and forth with the tour office we finally met the guide losing over 30 minutes of the tour in the process. She did not have a microphone so as we left the clock tower we could not hear her speak. She told us she was taking us to the important sights of Lucerne but never described the significance of the clock tower and wall above Lucerne. We walked to the Lion Monument and she told us to read about it on the descriptions that were there. She took us to the covered bridge next and we said we already walked across the bridge. As it was getting late and we needed to get to the boat dock we said let’s just go to dock 7. Here is a tip fellow travelers - docks 1-6 are on one side of the water and 7-9 are on the other side. Not knowing this we walked up the 1-6 side, our tour guide had no clue and was no help. We made it to the boat tour just in time. I will say this, the boat tour was excellent!!! Five stars for that. But Yo tours only bought the tickets for that. I think our guide was given no training for the tour and Yo tours should not give walking tours.Written 7 October 2024
- B1819GXpatricias0 contributionsAwful tour! Do not waste your money!I'm sad to say how disappointed I was in this tour that I was so looking forward to. Do not purchase this tour! Besides being unable to locate our tour guide (who happened to be sitting on bench scrolling through her phone) while our group was trying to frantically figure out the exact spot of the meeting location, our tour started 45 minutes late, (we arrived 15 minutes prior to the start of the tour) without the tour guide even knowing the tour also included the boat ride. The first thing when looking at the tour's description it says - Explore Lucerne beyond the typical tourist spots and enjoy the stories and tales about the city from your guide. Our guide did not tell us anything about anything. She led us through the city, not telling us anything about what we were seeing and took us to a monument and told us to read the information! Since she was originally unaware of the boat ride, she did not even know where the boat was located. We arrived within 2 minutes of the boat leaving after running to catch it while she walked leisurely behind us. Do not waste your money. It would have been more enjoyable to just have wandered the streets on our own.Written 7 October 2024
- Y1466NVkarenh0 contributionsOverall awful experience; do not use Yo Tours! We selected this tour since it had a 3:00pm start and we were touring Basel in the morning. Sadly, almost everything about it was awful! First of all, the meeting location is not in the main tourist area near the piers and train station. However, we found it with plenty of time but our guide wasn't there! We called the number on our confirmation, leaving several VM messages. We finally connected with Yo Tours, and our guide finally arrived, with no identification or anything indicating that she was a guide. She knew nothing about the cruise portion of our tour. Yo Tours then emailed me and her the boat tix and pier number. Our 2-hour walking tour then started, 45 minutes late. She briskly led us around the city, providing very little commentary. She was a student from Shanghai, only in Lucerne for 2 years. At 4:45pm when we suggested we should head toward the pier, she took us to the wrong side of the river. I asked someone where our pier was, and we ended up running across the bridge to get to our pier at 5:13pm, just barely making our 5:15pm cruise. The cruise on the lake was lovely and relaxing. But we would have missed it if we relied on our tour guide.Written 3 October 2024
- P2429VNwilliams0 contributionsPoor Experience with Yo Tours LucerneThis was to be a 10 hour tour for 4 adults. We expected a knowledgeable English speaking driver in a vehicle large enough to hold 4 passengers in relative comfort. We were greeted with a driver who did not speak English and had a sheet of paper for us to read as we went on the tour. The vehicle was a Toyota Prius with a jump seat in the back which was not suitable for for a 10 hour tour with 4 adults. We refused the tour and our Hotel was able to get the same tour with a different vendor for the same price with a Van large enough for a comfortable trip and a knowledgeable guide with excellent knowledge of the area. Stay away for Yo tours.Written 30 September 2024
- bafbs0 contributionsBeautiful Lucern; surprisingly disappointing TripAdvisor/Viator/Yo providerI was shocked to discover that Viator, a TripAdvisor Company, and one of its subcontractors Yo Tours were scheming opportunists. Shocked, because our travel group had successfully used the Viator Tour company for four of our other excursions during our August 2024 trip in Europe. We fully enjoyed one Viator day trip from Killarney, Ireland and two Viator day trips from Edinburgh and Inverness, Scotland, as well as just completing another Viator day trip to Mt Pilatus from Lucerne, Switzerland. So when our plans resulted in an additional full day in Lucern, we did not hesitate to consult the Viator online website to book a tour. Our schedule meant that we made our booking on the afternoon prior to our “Rhine Falls, Titisee & Black Forest Day”. This obviously left us vulnerable to the stipulation that a full refund will be given if cancellation is made more than 24 hours prior to the actual excursion. We had no such safety net, nor did we expect to need it. We were in the lobby of our hotel by 8am, ready and waiting to experience a 10-11 hour adventure for four adults with an English-speaking tour guide, at a cost of just over $1000. After waiting for almost an hour, a car pulled up and a man using very broken English got out and attempted to communicate to us that he was our agent. We asked if he would be our guide for the day and he showed us a printed page which described all our points of interest. He was dressed in a teeshirt, cargo shorts and sandals, proceeded to convey that he would drive us to the various locations and we would be able to read the paper as we went along. We were a group of four Americans and the vehicle we were expected to ride in was a Toyota Prius. When we questioned its size, the man opened the hatchback and indicated that we could also climb in the back “for more room”. We began to question the reality of spending 10 hours in a small hatchback vehicle, being driven by a non-English speaking person for a cost amounting to $250 per person. We asked to speak to his company’s agent and finally got a call from someone actually located in India. This person said we could not “back out” of our contract or receive any refund, because we hadn’t given more than 24 hours notice (which would have been impossible to do). He said we would be considered a “no show”, and the driver proceeded to leave. With the aid of our Renaissance Lucerne Hotel staff, we were immediately on the phone with Viator Tours, trying to plead our case, while also trying to salvage our day by requesting a larger vehicle and an English speaking guide (not just a driver with a printed handout). After waiting almost another hour, a lovely van and even more wonderful guide, came to our rescue. Py was dressed professionally and was fluent in several languages. Through the course of the day, we asked if he was aware of the experience of our first driver (he was not). He was amazing and accommodating. He helped us as we needed to interact while ordering in restaurants. He had all our necessary tickets. He always secured convenient drop off spots and tried in every way to make the day an enjoyable experience while adjusting for the two hour delay in start time. We had a peaceful drive back in the evening while listening to lovely music and returned to our hotel exhausted but happy. I’d gladly reach out to Py on any future European trips as he was a wonderful and knowledgeable guide. We believed we’d have the opportunity to dispute our original “offering”, and have worked with Yo, Viator, as well as our own credit card company over the last few weeks. None have been willing to take responsibility to “make right” the unacceptable experience. Essentially, our Lucerne: Private Car Tour to Rhine Falls, Titisee & Black Forest cost us $500 per person. We’d like to have our original $1000 refunded and be able to feel secure with using Viator, a TripAdvisor Company in the future. At this point, after respectfully trying to work for a justifiable refund, we felt our only recourse was to leave this review as a way to warn other travelers.Written 30 September 2024
- evasA6391YB0 contributionsWonderful place to visit!Beautiful City! Regardless of the group size, I would recommend to engage one of the tour guides to see the city. The history is very interesting and there are many little "oh wow" nuggets. Take a trip on one of the boatsWritten 5 September 2024
- perptuas0 contributionsdisrespectful tour guidefirst of all we were on the bus with a tour guide called 'Kid', this tour guide was a racist by all means, he knew that we are Arabs and he kept on repeating the word "yala" which is an arabic word he kept on saying it in a mean way. whenever we tried to ask him questions about what we can do in Interlaken or whether we will have time to do any activities in the city he always responded in an aggressive way and refused to say a full answer. all his words were mean and we are a family of 6 and all agreed that his attitude was unacceptable. I also understand German to a certain extent and I heard him talk about us in a bad way with the bus driver on how we don't understand what he is saying. he is super unprofessional and we didn't like how he treated us.Written 26 July 2024
- 658aimeep0 contributionsGreat experienceReally enjoyed this trip - well worth it! We came from Australia so the snow was a novelty for us. The views are stunning and we had a good time sliding down on the snow and racing each other.Written 27 January 2024
- Susan L0 contributionsMt Titlis terrific!A wonderful day- bus ride with informative guide, cable car, revolving cable car, suspension bridge, chairlift, ice caves, slipping and sliding in the snow! I also saw an alpine marmot! Gelato with a beautiful viewWritten 7 September 2023
- Y3771VHcharlotteb0 contributionsDisjointed tourThe meeting point was easy to find and we were picked up on-time. There was no guide to meet us. We did not know that we were part of a tour that started in Zurich. We were told about many options for the day while on the bus and given a written brochure about some of them. The brochure was inadequate because it didn't give duration times for planning. We had to ask the tour guide. Also the initial tour write up didn't explain about all the options for the day. The day was broken up by a short stop in Interlaken and then taken to Grindlewald. We then were given train tickets to take a train back to Interlaken at the end of the day to catch the bus back to Lucerne. So, it seemed very disjointed. Overall not very impressed. We made the best of what we could.Written 11 July 2023
- Vacationer5044310 contributionsNo mechanism to make changesDespite two days notice the tour company Yotours could not change our tour time. This request was made 5 minutes after booking the tour and involved several calls and emails that did not resolve the issue. We found a great guide on our own. We will see if our refund is handled as poorlyWritten 5 July 2023
- Camper018755844320 contributionsPricey tourWe met our guide at the clock tower as was specified in our tickets. We had some miscommunication but finally met up. We walked the wall for a short time. It was just the 2 of us with our guide. We saw the highlights in Lucerne but didn’t really see anything or learn anything new on the tour. It was overpriced for what we received. We’ve done small group tours in lots of cities and this was far below our expectations.Written 9 June 2023
- L2084QKjph0 contributionsNot worth itNot worth it. You’re better off just buying a round trip train ticket from Lucerne to Interlaken. The bus was hot and uncomfortable. The guide was fine, but she repeated everything in Spanish so it felt a little like you were only getting half as much as you paid for. It’s mixed with other tours so the timeline isn’t optimized for you to get the most out of the trip. Instead they drive you to Interlaken, have you walk around for 50 minutes which isn’t really enough time to do anything but long enough for you to feel like you wasted it. Then you get back on the bus (not a train as indicated) and drive to Grindelwald, by now it’s noon and you left at 9 and you feel like you still haven’t been able to do anything. We ended up just buying a train ticket and taking the train back to Lucerne two hours early.Written 7 April 2023
- BucketListsTrips0 contributionsTerrible experienceUnfortunately I have to give this a bad review. We arrived at the meeting point on time (15 min prior to trip). There was no tour guide and many people were wondering if we were at the correct spot. 5 min after trip was to start 2 ladies show up very disorganized and hurrying to check us in. A few min later a city bus pulls up and stops, blocking traffic on the busiest street in Lucerne. It was a double decker bus and I could see many people already on it. The driver started honking and yelling at us to load the bus as he was blocking traffic. My husband and I got on the bus and there were no seats available on first deck...many people had luggage on the open seats. We went up the very narrow staircase to the second deck and saw there were no seats together. This bus had very low ceilings and small seats. Instantly my husband and I needed to get off the bus because it felt so closed in and the thought of spending even a short bus ride (this is an 8-10 hour tour) on this bus made both of us panic. I assumed the bus we would be on would be a nice comfortable coach. Absolutely not the case.Written 10 November 2022

I highly recommend this excursion to Mt Pilatus! It was the highlight of our 11 day trip to Europe! You will be assigned a guide for the group! Our group had about 20. She spoke several languages but we could understand her English perfectly! She was AWESOME! Layer up as it will be cold and windy at the top! But, you will want to remove the layers for the boat after! It was a mountaintop experience and worth the price of admission!

We were issued a ticket to enjoy this trip on July 2nd, 2022, by Viator TripAdvisor. My credit card was charged. Nevertheless, when we arrived at the starting site, we were informed that our reservation “had been cancelled.” Yolanda refused to allow us onto the tour despite my showing her the valid ticket. I am still trying to determine whether Yo Tours or TripAdvisor is responsible for issuing and charging for a ticket, then reneging on it, but the system is not a trustworthy one. To be fair, Yo Tours had attempted to message me to say they were going to refuse service, but I am at a loss to understand how a tour can be ticketed, run with other participants, then withheld. Word to the wise, we were able to purchase the same trip later that day at the public ticket station down by the Lucerne dock for half the price.

Dear Guest, the details mentioned in your review are not correct, you went for the tour and then raised a refund request, this is unacceptable practice.
