      A Must Visit!!
What a great experience! Upon arrival we were only met with the loveliest and friendliest staff members. The tour itself was done with an open safari vehicle, where we were provided with a blanket each, which helped a lot in this winter weather. We were allowed to take our hot beverages with us on the 2 hourish drive and were provided with a lot of information regarding the lions and tigers on the property. The big cats are inclosed and are very well looked after. There are a lot of wildebeest, bucks, ostriches etc. roaming free on the property which was lovely to see as well. After the tiger valley tour, we were provided with a tour of the lovely rooms that are available to book and we also sat down for a quick lunch at the property’s restaurant. The food was delicious and affordable!! Thank you so much for the great experience!!

A true sanctuary for big cats
FOUR PAWS has given more than 100 rescued big cats a new life at the lir sanctuary in Lionsrock. I had a wonderful time at their beautiful lodge and enjoyed the informative tours with my guide “Excellence”. He is very knowledgable and told me many stories of the rescued big cats and gave me insight into their previous and current lives. Excellence has a warm personality, is very friendly and polite, and never got tired answering all my questions. The morning hike up the mountain with a beautiful view on Lionsrock with him was also a wonderful experience. Thank you for this memorable and touching time!

      Tranquil and calming
Amazing job being done looking after rescued big cats. Very nice enclosures and a proper “sanctuary”. Having lunch at the lodge was brilliant - good food and also being able to hear lions roar while eating. Very tranquil place.

      Wonderful experience!
We had an amazing experience. Due to Covid, we did not sleep at the lodge, but we went on a guided tour through the enclosures in the sanctuary and had lunch at the restaurant. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, all safety precautions were followed, the tour was lovely and informative and the food was great. I would highly recommend this place. One thing to be aware of is that it is a 13km dirt road before you get to the gate of the lodge, so make allowance for the slow trek of a dirt road.

      Forever safe and sound
A four paws initiative to provide a safe and comfortable environment for rescued big cats from around the world. Doing incredible work to achieve their goal the staff are knowledgeable and passionate. Antelope and ostrich roam freely, but you can only see the big cats by joining a guided tour... Well worth the price paid. Our guide, Mel, was professional, friendly and full of empathy for her charges. The sanctuary is well maintained and worth the drive on the 13km dirt road.

      Great cause!
Four Paws are doing excellent work at this sanctuary! We thoroughly enjoyed the game drive which at less than R200 was well worth it! Definitely makes one reconsider visits to zoos and circuses.

Impressive drive with very knowledgable guides
We watched a video prior to going out on the aims of the sanctuary and it’s sponsors Four Paws. We climbed into our truck and Mel our guide filled us In on every cat and how they had been rescued from horrific conditions. Some had been in zoos, bred for hunting, and pets. Meals passion shone through and welcomed any question. She pointed out other wildlife on the way to the enclosures and didn’t rush us through. I’ve been on many drives but I admire the work the sanctuary is doing.

      True sanctuary
You can see and feel the passion, dedication, compassion and effort that goes into providing a true sanctuary at Lionsrock for these big cats rescued from horrible conditions in captivity. Knowledgeable rangers take you on a game drive to see some of the rescued cats and hearing their stories was emotional. There's lots of other game too, a variety of antilope, ostriches, birdlife etc and the area is beautiful. The food at the lodge is nice, good choices for vegetarians and vegans.

      Total waste of time
Drove kilometres on a very bad dirt road just to see on their chalk board that the next tour is only 3pm. Not wanting to wait 4 hours have to tackle the dirt road again without so much as a glimpse of a lion.

Great Rest and Relaxation with animal rescue
The Sanctury is doing an incredible job of rescuing big cats and rehabilitating them from thr most awful conditions they were in in zoos and circuses. Whilst we were there 3 lions arrived who had only ever been in concrete cages and it was heartbreaking to see them step onto grass for the first time. Wonderful stay and dedicated staff and rescuers

      Lionsrock Big Cat Santuary
Today visited Lionsrock Cat Santuary what an amazing experience. My husband & I were the only people there but did not know the game drives are at certain times but DEbbie arranged for us to go out with ranger Vincent, it was a 2 hour drive. Vincent was so knowledgeable, patient & polite. The park is so well kept & all 83 cats looked well fed & healthy. Feeding days are Tuesday’s & Friday’s so we had timed it well to see most of the cats as they prowled the fences. We were day visitors but one can also stay at the lodge. The staff was amazing & helpfull. Big Congratulations for what PAWS has achieved. This is a must visit
