- minnieq20250 contributionsUnreliable Service & Poor Customer Support – Avoid This Tour CompanyI had a highly disappointing experience with Tours and Tickets. I booked a tour over the counter at their Amsterdam Centraal office, and their representative assured me that I would be notified if the tour was canceled. However, I never received any cancellation email or notification. On the day of the tour, after traveling a long distance specifically to join the trip to Bruges, I arrived at their office only to be informed that the tour was canceled. This was incredibly frustrating and completely ruined our plans. The lack of communication and poor customer service made the experience even worse. Their staff showed little concern for the inconvenience caused, and despite having only a few customers to manage, they failed to send a simple email about the cancellation. If you’re considering booking a tour with this company, think twice. There are many more reliable travel agencies that respect their customers’ time and money. I strongly advise looking for a more trustworthy operator to avoid the disappointment we faced.Written 5 February 2025

- Anshuman S0 contributionsTouristy and not authentic local experienceGuide was good and tour was well managed. They have some useless activities which you would realise only after doing so buying all inclusive package is not recommended. Cheese factory, clog factory and waffle factory were merely sales outlets targeting tourists. They barely make anything in these premises. Windmill we went to was not functional and we were told its because of wind. However it was a windy day and all adjacent windmills were working. Its ok if all you want is some sightseeing and pictures but at all an authentic Holland experience.Written 26 January 2025

Very warm and caring team that took care of a large team of curious tourists. - O8407XFannav0 contributionsSo poor festival. Poor instalation.First, on the website you can find information that trip last from 75 min till 105 min. In the fact it was only 50. We started at 21.50 and back at 22.40. From another side that it was less time than offered even better, because from all light instalations only 3 was really good. Rest not interesting, nothing special to call it as a Light Festival. For people, who never had trip before by the canals in Amsterdam will be interesting to see the city from that's side. But then maybe better to go on the special trip for it.Written 26 December 2024

- Odyssey372071456420 contributionsGreat tour... fully recommendThis is a great tour. In the end we paid extra to include tour of Windmill and boat trip. It was cheaper to pay the extra €15 than pay entry and boat. There was so much to see it would have been nice to have longer in each place. Infact the day trip could have ended later to do this. It was fascinating to hear about the cheese but it was more expensive to buy in the shop than at the airport!! The guide was good it was a mixture of him speaking and listening on headsets in the coach. I would thoroughly recommend this trip.Written 18 December 2024

We bought the bus/boat combo hop-on/off tour. The boat tour was pretty to see, a different view from walking around the city. Stops like others said were hard to find, but doable. I would recommend this for sure! Plus the boat driver was great and very friendly!
The bus tour I would not recommend. The ride was very jerky and 2 of the stops(3&8) were closed(which was fine for us since we walked mostly), but if you cannot walk as much it may make it difficult. The audio guide didn’t work in the first seats we sat in, and once we moved and could listen, it was just “ok”. Many other hop on-off tours have been better that we have done throughout travels. We did make a stop at the diamond factory which seems like it was a 10-15 minute wait. And the stop at 1, we waited around 15 minutes as well.
Lastly BUYER BEWARE, be aware the site, pamphlet & tickets all say the tickets last for 24 hours. We bought a boat/bus ticket at 17:00, for the boat then got on the bus the next morning at 10am. When we showed the tickets to our driver, he told 24 hours was incorrect and their site/tickets were wrong. The ticket is only valid that day purchased on the ticket, NOT 24 hours.
Also worth to note, the busses come by every 20-30 minutes, the app is nice to see where the busses/boats are, but very glitchy.
Overall, you do get to see the city and it was a nice way to get around, but not great.

Good afternoon,
Thank you for pointing that out to us, because the tickets really are valid for 24 hours, unless you have bought a half-day ticket at our shop. You can recognise these tickets if you see 'after 14:00' on your ticket. These are the only tickets that are just valid until the end of the day. Other tickets are either valid for 24 or 48 hours and start from the first time you check-in.
We appreciate your review, both flattering and constructive. If there is anything we can still resolve or clear up, you can always reach out to us at hello@citysightseeingamsterdam.nl
Have a wonderful day!

Been on other City Sightseeing buses and I always recommend them to get a feel of the city, but this one was so frustrating. Bus/cruise stops were unmarked which led to over half an hour of trying to find where to be picked up. Even ran into a couple who was having the same issue. Buses nor cruises run often enough, had to wait half an hour for both each time.
The bus is alright, won't see many attractions as it runs in the outer part of the city. Cruise is definitely more scenic and relaxing, I would opt just for this option. It runs a little more on the inner city and can leave you near key spots.

Good afternoon,
Thank you for leaving us a review. We are sorry to hear your experience with us was so stressful. Unfortunately, the buses are not allowed inside the city centre anymore. Therefore, it still takes you to key points but we have to go around. On that same note, we are also not allowed to put flags at every stop.
For this, we have an app that shows you where the stops are and you are always welcome to ask for help from our colleagues in the Tours & Tickets shops or you can call customer service between 09:00 and 17:00hs at +3120 420 4000.
We hope you had a good time in Amsterdam!

Ok value. Boat trip we enjoyed more than the bus. Buses not that regular so hard to hop on/off. The bus also stopped for a ridiculous amount of time in the diamond museum and we have no idea why - had to go and ask the driver when we would be moving as we had a museum booked and needed to be on time. Very hard to locate the bus stops as they are not clearly labelled.

Dear Lisa,
Thank you for your review. Unfortunately, we are not always allowed to put up flags and signs everywhere. This is why we have an app to show you where our stops are, if you click on the stops it even shows you the route to get there.
Regarding the Gassan Diamond Museum, this is our partnership. We stop here for 15 to 20 minutes as a little break, but you can also visit the museum for free if you like.
If you have any more questions or if you have any tips for us, you can write to us at hello@citysightseeingamsterdam.nl

From my experience which was that 2nd week of July 2024 this was a bus service I would not recommend. First there are eight stops NONE of which are marked so you need to remember where you were let off so you'll be able to get back on. Second there is only ONE bus running at a time so when you get off at a stop you're never sure when it'll be back to pick you up. This means if you miss it you'll be waiting about an hour until it comes back around. Could be longer. When I was on the driver stopped for a 20 minute cigarette break and then another driver took over anyhow. The drivers should announce the stops and what the attractions are even though the one of the booklets gives a general idea of what's around but one driver we encountered didn't even announce the stops at all and we missed getting off even though we told him what stop number we wanted. We ended up walking back. Stay away from this, it's not worth the money or the inconvenience you can walk to just about all the stops anyhow.

Good afternoon,
We are sorry to hear you had such a bad experience with the City Sightseeing Bus.
Depending on the day, we have 2 to 4 buses running at a frequency of every 25 minutes. Unfortunately, it is not allowed to mark the departure points with flags, that's why City Sightseeing has an app where you see the live location of the boats, the busses and yourself.
At stop 4 they take a little break for their partner Gassan. You can also do a free diamond tour there. Of course, you don't need to do this, but we would recommend it, it's fun!
We apologise for the discomfort you have felt and hope you have a good time in Amsterdam anyway!
Kind regards,

Whilst on board the Amsterdam bus, we overheard the supervisor telling the driver that there would be no more circuits completed due to road closures. I asked the supervisor to clarify situation. He advised me to contact the company to get a refund. They did not inform any of the passengers that got off the bus that there would be no way for them to return to their preferred stop.
The company refunded me only 20% of the purchase price even though there is no disputing the fact that they did not fulfill their obligation to provide transport for a full day. Absolutely horrendous customer service.

The sign for this trip said it was a hop on hop off boat cruise which would have worked for us well. We had set timed tickets for Anne Frank and Van Gogh so we couldn’t do the boat cruise right then. The hop on hop off boat would have suited our needs perfectly.
However, what was sold to us was an hour canal cruise where the mandated stop to get in was in a part of the city that we were only in once at the start of the day. It was simply inconvenient.
We went to several of the tour & ticket boat kiosks to explain our situation and no one would was empowered to help us. They referred us to a generic email.
It’s now June 15th. I tried to explain and communicate with the owners. It took days to receive a response. They basically told me to pound sand. I don’t usually write bad reviews but this one is warranted.
I tried to give them an opportunity to make this right and they did not. I cannot recommend them for this reason.
We wasted our money and ended up frustrated and paid for a different boat cruise.

Our cruise stopped in Amsterdam and we thought the hop on & off would be a good way to get around. NOPE. The main stop, by the cruise port, had so many people, it would've taken 2 or 3 buses for us to get on. Given they're running every 30 minutes, we didn't want to wait an hour or longer just to get on. So we started walking into the main downtown area. It was so easy & so much quicker.
After exploring the main area, we thought we'd use the hop on to get over to Anne Frank House, for our next tour. Not only could we not find the stop to get on (they're not marked), but according to their map, the bus doesn't go anywhere near Anne Frank House and it's a big hike. The bus just circles around Amsterdam, which is great if you want to ride around the outside of the city and miss all of the best parts of Amsterdam... Maybe their boat hop on & off would be better, we don't know, but we were not impressed with the bus.
So we never did use the hop on bus even though we paid. When we returned to the cruise area and tried to get a refund, they had already packed up and were gone. Just a waste of 55 Euros. Tours & Tickets were the operator.

First time I go into a hop on hop off bus and last time. Even my wife that had been into one of these before was disappointed. It took forever to the bus to start going. We wanted to go to a specific stop but somehow, the bus stopped another 10 minutes in the 4th stop, the diamond gallery. It took forever to get to the place we wanted. There are no many buses and boats so waiting time to hop on again is quite high. And then for the price you pay, you only get headphones to listen to a prerecorded message in the way. The only thing that we enjoyed was the opportunity to travel by boat (at a higher price) which is also slow and it is not worth. Not for me.

My wife and I recently took the Hop On Hop Off in Amsterdam. The one hour boat cruise was wonderful but….in purchasing the two day pass Day 1 was great. HOWEVER, DAY 2 WAS HELL😡
We stopped for 15 minutes at Stop #4, Gassan Diamond Experience. Told that it would be a 15 minute stop for bathroom break & a free coffee, after 10 minutes the bus departed without warning. My wife and our belongings were on the bus😮
I got back to the bus 5 minutes before the announced departure time. My was located on the top deck and when she attempted to come down the curved staircase to advise the driver of my not being on the bus he yelled at her to ‘go sit down’. She attempted to get off at Stop #5 but he decided he wouldn’t stop.
In the meantime the security guards at Gassan took me in their car to try and intercept the bus. To no avail…..she got off at Stop #6 and called me. Not knowing where we were in Amsterdam and not familiar with the city I asked me sure to get on the next bus and go the entire route again until she got to Stop #4 again.
In the meantime, as I remained at Stop #4 I saw each driver as they made their routine stop there. Eventually (asI got the driver’s name licence plate# from the security officers) I awaited seeing the driver that dumped me there. When I cautiously approached him he was very defiant and said he made the decision to leave early, a ‘too bad so sad’ response. (the security guards know of him and acknowledged he has a bad reputation).
2.5 hours later I met up with my wife again😡. We went to the Hop On Hop Off office and registered a complaint.
We got an email response from them the next day……no apology or refund as requested. Our whole day in Amsterdam was ruined😡
We only had one more day in Amsterdam before our cruise set sail so we got the heck out of the city for the day.
We have no burning desire to return there.
Hop On’s attitude towards us put a very bad taste in our mouths.
Very sad, anything but professional 😮

How can I find out the route and 11 stops of this bus? I want to make sure one of the stops is somewhat close to our hotel. I've looked everywhere on this site for the info. Thanks!

If you go onto the website citysightseeingamsterdam.ni
Go to book tickets for 24 hour hop on hop off bus tour. When you scroll down you will find an option to see the routes.
Hope this helps.
