Amsterdam Food Tour
From US$57.92
Overview
Visit Amsterdam's culinary hot spots on this 2.5-hour food and walking tour. Alongside your guide and small group, limited to just 12 foodies, travel around town to taste popular local dishes such as salty fries and fresh herring. Sample pungent artisan cheeses, and throw back a house spirit at a 17th-century distillery. Along the way, gain insight into Amsterdam’s gastronomic roots and the historic Dutch spice trade.
What to Expect
Begin your tour at Spui Square in central Amsterdam, where you'll meet up with your guide and small group.

Stroll along the city streets, passing alongside picturesque canals and over bridges, and hear about the history and evolution of Dutch cuisine, including the thriving Dutch spice trade during the 16th century when the Netherlands played a major role in the East Indies Spice trade.

Inside a café, see if you love hot, salty French fries — a specialty from its Belgian neighbor — as much as the Dutch do. Sample another Dutch favorite, fresh herring, a popular fish among the Scandinavian nations.

Stop at one of Amsterdam’s top cheese shops and sample some of its pungent artisan cheeses.

Continue to a 17th-century distillery, and savor a house spirit or other traditional beverage. Hear about the history of the Dutch brewing industry, shaped over time partly by German and American influences.

Your tour ends at the distillery, and before leaving, your guide will happily share recommendations on other eateries for you to explore on your own.

Chloe is our newest city host. She jumped at the chance to share her passion about the city and NL culture. Glad you where on the receiving end of this energy. Hope the licorice wasn't too shocking!?
