    What to Expect
Visit: Dutch Costume Museum and Dutch Costume Photo Studio, Herengracht 427 Kruising Koningsplein / Herengracht, 1017 BR Amsterdam The Netherlands

The Dutch Costume Museum shows everyone who is interested in Dutch Cultural heritage, the explosion of colors, combinations and designs, reflecting the history of the Dutch traditional costumes and the stories and related practices. This way these stories will not be forgotten in a time when folk costumes are gradually vanishing from our streets. The museum is in a 17th century old canal house in the centre of Amsterdam.

The museum has a unique shop with handmade presents made by the original folk factory. It is open for the public all day from 10am until 5 pm.

In the photo studio you can have the photographer take a photo of you in Dutch folk costume with your family or friends. It makes a great souvenir of a nice visit to Amsterdam to bring back home (own expense).

Me wife wanted to go and so our teenage daughter and I went. Really friendly welcome to the beautiful little museum that we all enjoyed. Both the costumes, the special exhibits (fishermen’s jerseys) and the house itself with its steep Dutch steps. The very kind lady running it

Wonderful museum! Interesting exhibition about the fisherman's sweaters. The permanent collection was beautiful, lots with lots of information about the different types of traditional Dutch clothing.  An audiotour would have been nice.
