      Best place to buy cheese
The best place in town to get cheese. And not just cheese, but an excellent quality cheese! Most of the time, testing of various cheeses is on offer.

      Fantastic wine and cheese tasting.
Pre booked a wine and cheese tasting and what can I say was amazing, Can’t remember the man’s name for the life of me but he was externally knowledgable of everything he was talking about and clearly passionate about what he does. As a cheese and wine lover with what I think to be a good amount of knowledge I learnt things I didn’t know about cheeses. This was a pilot for rolling the old Amsterdam cheese shops with tasting out all over the world and they definitely should this would be great.

Amazing and fruitful experience. Learned a lot around the history of cheese making and tasted some of the most delicious local flavours! It was a blast!

      Fantastic wine and cheese pairing!
The wine and cheese pairing was excellent. We sampled five unique cheeses and three wines. Killian was very knowledgeable and interactive. The pairing took place above the Old Amsterdam Cheese Shop in a private tasting room. Each group had their own table. I would highly recommend this wine and cheese pairing!

Visit every time we're in Amsterdam.
Our family love cheese and our daughter's favourite is Old Amsterdam. The shop is well set out with its tasting table and in prime locations around the city.

      Color dyed cheese...
Here a word from a native Dutch. The reality of this ‘old’ cheese is of course that this brand only exists since 1985. But how about the cheese, is it ok, or really good? Just look at the ingredients; it has sodium nitrate (e251) as a preservative. And it may LOOK old, but they use the cheap color trick. Carotene e160a or Anatto E160b a brown/ yellowing dye. There are many better cheeses in the Netherlands that do without these tricks. With the yellow dye, they hope you think this is really old cheese. But now you know, search for the three ingredients only; milk, rennet, salt. Thats it! So if you are a tourist, and see deep yellow cheese...take a look to the ingredients! If this review comes handy, please give me a 👍, Thx!

      Great cheese, forgettable experience
We were looking forward to doing a wine and cheese tasting at the Old Amsterdam Cheese Store and while the cheese was great, the overall experience was quite lackluster. If all you are looking for is to taste cheese and wine then this is the place for you. We left feeling that we hadn’t gained a better understanding of cheese, how it’s made, and why certain varieties taste a certain way. We didn’t learn how to pair wines with cheeses or why red was given with one cheese over another. We hoped to leave with some new tidbits of information we can share with friends and apply to when we taste fancier cheeses, but that’s not what this experience provided. Fortunately, this is a relatively inexpensive activity so we felt for the amount of wine and cheese we got that the price was fair.

      Fun cheese/wine tasting
Great central Amsterdam cheese shop with a very nice upstairs cheese tasting opportunity. Very good cheese presentation to provide just the right amount of information combined with tasting 5-cheeses with a little wine. It was an hour well spent.

      Cheese
There is a large selection of different cheese in here, and if you like cheese then you'll like there. You can buy anything from small pieces to big wheels. There was lots of samples of the different cheese for you to sample which all tasted great.

      Fantastic Selection Of Cheeses
There are many cheese stores in Amsterdam. They all let you have a taste. Believe me, I tried many before deciding on Old Amsterdam. All of my question were answered before I decided on their classic. Delicious. Susan was so kind and helpful to me. I thank her.

The cheese and wine tasting was great. Heard lots about the Old Amsterdam Cheese Company. The cheese and wine were both amazing and fit well together and will definitely want to go again or buy the product.

      Brief but enjoyable visit
Intrigued by the strong smells, we stopped by the Cheese Store and sampled several ranges of their produce including Gouda. We enjoyed roaming the shop and staff were hospitable as they sliced pieces for you. I especially flavoured the jalapeño infused cheese.

My daughter surprised me on my birthday with this Cheese & Wine tasting in the upstairs of this shop which has a charming atmosphere! Not only was our tour guide extremely friendly and welcoming but we also learned a lot! The cheese is to die for as well as his selection of wine pairings. I highly recommend starting your special day here, too.

Thoroughly enjoyed hearing about the cheese culture and history in Amsterdam. The facilitator was really knowledgable about both the cheese and what to drink with it and the hour flew. Was just a good bit of fun with samples and I left with some knowledge I will probably forget but was still great!

Last day of our trip to Amsterdam, Old Amsterdam is a favourite cheese of mine and was buying some to take home when we noticed they now do a private cheese and wine tasting. We booked and were so happy with did. Having the chance to appreciate the history and what goes in to making these extra type of cheese. And how much you’re palate is extenuated when sampling the cheese with the right beverage. I have always enjoyed a glass of Red Wine or Port with my cheese. Never realised white wine or even whiskey are equally as good with the right cheese. Amazing experience, brilliant host . Don’t miss this experience.

We went for a cheese tasting on our holiday, it was a very intellectual experience enjoyed greatly by myself and my partner. Our host Cillian was outstanding and very informative.

We’d like to thank Old Amsterdam and Cillian for this experience and opportunity to become cheese masters.

Amazing cheese and wine tasting! We went to this not really knowing what to expect, but boy are we happy we did it! Our sommelier had so much knowledge about cheese, wine and Amsterdam. He taught us so much and did it in such a fun way. We are amateurs in this but really walked away with a lot of cool, new knowledge. One hour easily flew by and I cannot recommend this enough.

They allow you to taste many types of cheese samples and dips. I walked out with a grocery bag full to bring back to the USA in my carry on. Of course, it set off every TSA checkpoint scanner but it's here and I am enjoying it now!

Located a few minutes from Centraal station where the very friendly and knowledgeable staff took us through the tasting of several cheeses accompany by an appropriate selection of wines. The tasting room above the shop was quiet & relaxed and we did not feel rushed at all. The measures were generous and appreciated. We can definitely recommend this to any one who appreciates cheese and is interested in the history and making of cheese.

The tasting is up the staircase. One young man presented it. Fairly busy. The hour is wasted as he is working solo and goes around filling up each person's wine glass. What he fills is about 30-40mls each time. He does try to chat but, it's a bit lack lustre. I didn't come away feeling more knowledgeable about pairing wine to cheese.
As mentioned previously time wasted in the 1 hour experience by him walking back and forward to get the different wine each time. Surely he knew what wines he would need.
Actuallyly quite distracting when other staff kept coming up stairs to access another door to a stairwell on next floor when tasting was happening.

    Nope def wouldn't reccomend.

The wine and cheese pairing was held in a nice room above the cheese shop. The young woman conducting the tasting was clearly an expert in Dutch cheese. She provided some good tips on pairing wine with cheese. The location was in the heart of the tourist area and each to get to by tram.
