    Great tour
Very informative walking tour of Amsterdam focused on the city’s history in finance! Had a mix of teens and us old folk. Highly recommended.

Super fascinating financial tour of Amsterdam
Really interesting tour, with lots of history and fabulous insights into why Amsterdam was the biggest financial centre in the world in its prime. But even beyond that period, learn about the 2nd biggest gold heist in history, learn about why the mayors of amsterdam live in the house they live in, see the building the first equity share ever was issued, and lots more.

Step into the World of Old Amsterdam
The tour is a must for financial and banking aficionados and everyone who would like to step into the world of the origins of free trade, stock exchange, capitalism, royalty, religious wars, futures and the Tulip bubble, and Amsterdam's culture. The guide was able to answer my questions and relate to my interests. He also took some marvelous pictures and showed me illustrations of how Amsterdam was centuries ago to bring his stories to life. Wonderful pacing and engaging conversations!

I'm still thinking about how good this tour was a year later
I am not usually one for guided tours, but my friends surprised me with this one, because they knew it appealed to my specific interests (Amsterdam and economics). And that's what made this tour so cool was how specific it got. Our guide, Edgar, was incredibly knowledgeable on the financial history of this city that's so important to the beginnings of capitalism. No matter how you feel about the c-word, capitalism shapes our world, and this tour gives you a detailed understanding of how Amsterdam is central to it. Edgar's knowledge on Rembrandt's crankiness with his clients, the beginnings of the Dutch stock exchange, the Dutch East India Company, the tulip mania, and Walraven van Hall, the banker who robbed a bank to stop the Nazis, made this tour a great afternoon. Edgar was also very friendly as he took us through the city. It's taken me a while to write this review (a whole year), but I was recently reminded how much tour companies depend on good reviews for people to find their good work. Let this late review come to some good use: This tour is so good, I'm still thinking about it a year later. Go ahead and take it.

Great tour of the Rijksmuseum with passion and humour
Edgar gave us a tour of the Rijksmuseum as part of our business trip to Amsterdam. He shares his knowledge with great passion, and he is very knowledgeable about both art and Amsterdam itself. He also gives many humorous insights which I appreciated.

Excellent world war 2 tour in Amsterdam
Edgar was a very good guide. He was very knowledgeable, a friendly guy and went at a good speed. I am 80 years old. He took the time to explain and to move at a pace that suited my needs. Definitely recommend him to other travelers!

    Great tour
Edgar was an excellent tour guide. He provided us with 2.5 hours of Jewish and Amsterdams history. It was apparent he loves what he does and is very informed. We enjoyed our entire time with him. We did the Anne Frank and Jewish History of Amsterdam Private Tour.

    Amazing Amsterdam Tour
Edgar Foley was an amazing guide for the Jewish History of Amsterdam and Anne Frank House Tour. As an art history expert, he provided great insight into the area, its history, and the changing architecture over time.

    Great experience with a group!
This is the second time we did the financial history in Amsterdam as an organization, the local guides are knowledgeable about Amsterdam financial history. The highlight for me was seeing the worlds first stock exchange and learning about VOC- The Dutch East Indian Company!

    Rijksmuseum private tour - excellent!
Tijs was an excellent tour guide - funny, engaging and incredibly knowledgeable. The private tour was a fantastic experience and made the museum so much more accessible to someone who isn’t an art expert. Would 100% recommend!

A brilliant tour with a great guide
Edgar took my colleagues + I on a tour of multiple areas of Amsterdam and shared so much history + culture with us when we walked. I remembered so much of it because it was so well-paced and shared that I've shared a lot of it with friends who have visited since! Thanks Edgar and thanks to Historical Amsterdam Tours!

Historical Tours are not only for visitors.
We’ve lived in Amsterdam for 10 years and finally took the time to learn more about the fascinating history. The financial tour did not disappoint - learning about both the financial innovations of the Dutch, but also the uncomfortable truths in its history. Thank you, Thijs, for the engaging tour!

WALKING IN AMSTERDAM WITH A BIG FRIEND :)
Tijs is one of the people that makes us wish the day to have more than 24 hours! :) Not only a guide who makes the fascinating Amsterdam even more fascinating! His vision for the city reveals the past, the present, and create great perspectives for the future. With all the secrets of each street, you learn not only about Nederlands but also its World's Influence. Knowledge, culture, amazing angles for photos and a real lesson of lively history in just one day, I can imagine how wonderful it would be if we had the privilege to spend a week with our new Dutch Friend! Absolutely recommended, I have no doubt he will be an essential part of my tours!

My private tour of the Rijksmuseum was truly fantastic, thanks to my amazing guide Tijs. His deep knowledge and engaging storytelling brought the art to life in a way that made me feel like we were traveling back in time.

He expertly guided me through the works of Rembrandt, Vermeer, and other Dutch masters, bringing each painter's story and vision to life. It was an unforgettable experience, and I would highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to dive deep into art in a personal and meaningful way.

Thank you for this remarkable experience Tijs!

We made this tour as we prefered to get a more real-live impression of Rembrandt than just looking at his paintings in the Rijksmuseum. And Tijs fullfilled this expectation absolutely. Even if the city looks pretty different today and not all buildings are existing anymore his storytelling makes the 17th century getting back to life before your eyes. He shares a lot of knowledge and you recognize that he is really into his topic and loves to share that.
So if you want to get to know Amsterdam from a different view, this is your tour.

This was an amazing walking tour of Rembrandt’s steps, where he lived, about his work, the good and bad, etc. It was extremely informative and our guide was Tijs who did an outstanding job. He was funny, and professional, and it was obvious he is passionate about history. Definitely worth doing!

Excellent bespoke tour of highlights of the Rijksmuseum. Edgar Foley was a great and knowledgable guide! He put the history of Dutch Art in the Golden Age and earlier in context.
