- jayneb1770 contributionsOkay! The guide was very friendly but kept going off on tangents which had nothing to do with the tour and that made the tour very long in incredibly cold conditions. The tour itself was ok not sure you need a tour though to be fair.Written 3 December 2024

Our guide,James, was very informative and respectful of the tragedy that took place here. We saw many interesting/sad tributes and memorials to honor those that suffered - and those who did try to stand up for justice. I was disappointed that we weren’t ever anywhere near the Anne Frank house as we had watched a great bio of her life in preparation for this tour. Beware you must buy the tickets exactly six weeks ahead for admission to the Anne Frank House! This tour does cover the primary Jewish quarter of Amsterdam and our guide recommended the Vertzets Resistance Museum. It introduces you to four children from four different families at the this time period and all their different perspectives.

I did the Anne Frank + WWII tour with James and I was positively surprised. The tour was very instructive and detailed, I learned a lot. Would recommend it to anyone visiting Amsterdam to have a deeper look into the history of the city and the buildings/monuments surrounding it.

What an incredible experience! First and foremost, we were fortunate that on our tour on October 30, we were the only group booked and so the six of us practically got a private tour.
James was our guide and was so amazing. He is soft spoken and educated on the Holocaust and the events that took place in Amsterdam and we learned so much. His personal family connection makes his tour even more special. While there was mention of Anne Frank and her family, this tour was so much more than that, touching on the lesser known that were equally affected. Such a somber part of history but so important to learn.
This affordable walking tour is worth every penny spent and then some! Highly recommended!

This tour is a great example of 'too good to be true'. The price is low, so we booked this tour, but the quality is also a lot lower than several other tours we did in Amsterdam earlier this year.
The guide was much too late, only told us some basic information and was also quite rude to some of us. So not recommended.

Masha gave my family and I a tour today and was very knowledgeable and caring about the information she was giving to us, the whole experience was absolutely wonderful!
We had just arrived to the city less than two hours prior and she gave great recommendations to us about places we should experience during our time here. She also gave us very helpful tips about navigating Amsterdam.
Would definitely recommend for a fairly quick, relaxing and informative tour.

James was our tour guide and he did a phenomenal job in explaining the history and series of events that transpired during these horrific times. He was engaging and knowledgeable and so pleasant to be with. This tour was certainly worth taking and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn the history and experience the series of events during this time. James, thanks for your passion, great tour with you !!

The young man who took us through the streets of Amsterdam also took us back to the 1940's and the atrocities faced by so many; but also the bravery of others who interceded for them. Having listed the Frank House on a previous trip, I was disappointed that our family could not get in. But this walking tour was even better!

Informative tour with James.
Whilst Anne Frank is a feature, I enjoyed learning about all the new types of memorials Amsterdam is installing as well as some lesser known stories of other families. The pace and tone of the tour as well as the city clearly acknowledging their history made this a perfect experience.

James was so knowledgable and imparted the information in a very clear and concise manner. Everyone who visits Amsterdam should do a tour like this as it will open your eyes to what a difficltu past the City has had. James welcomed questions and answered each and every one of them.

The tour was mostly informational, so if you are looking for an interactive tour, this is not for you. However, the information was excellent and we learned quite a bit about the history of the Jewish peoples in the Netherlands, and their experiences with the Holocaust, as well as the involvement of the Netherlands in the Second World War. Our tour guide was very engaging and invited lots of dialogue and opportunity for questions.

Does this tour actually take you through Anne Frank house? If not, where does one book tickets to Anne Frank house?

How long a walk in miles is it? Are there places to stop and sit along the way?
Written 8 August 2022
The walking tour is about 2 hours and I'd say it was maybe a 2 mile walk around the Jewish Quarters, maybe a bit more. Our guide did find places for us to sit, though which was really nice. We had a woman with a knee problem in our group and my sister has mobility issues so he kept the place slow for everyone to keep up and would find places for them to sit whenever he could.

How do you get tour tickets to see inside Anne Franks house?
Written 16 April 2022
Go online to the Anne Frank Museum to purchase tickets. They release the next's month's ticket on the first Tuesday of the month prior. Get them while you can - I thought we had all the time in the world so didn't book when there were openings and when I went back a week or so later, they were all sold out.
