About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- GinnyS5760 contributionsIf you want the best, use Tom's ToursWe were blown away by everything you arranged for us. I simply don’t have the words to adequately thank you for helping me organize such perfect outings for my family. You made me look like a rockstar. There isn’t a more thoughtful and thorough guide than Fred. He read everything I wrote and then called me and created the most perfect trip. He put so much thought into our day and it showed. The farm, the lunch, the lunch menu, the city walks, the “competitive” games ( what my grandchildren will do for a euro knows no bounds); it was such a fun day. The motor coach was gorgeous. (I think I need to buy one of those for my home in Wisconsin!) And Ziggy our driver was terrific. Patiently turning around when my granddaughter left her jacket behind. The big boat for the canal cruise was equally impressive. Simply gorgeous and even my local Amsterdam friend was impressed by it. It was just the perfect mid-day activity for us. The captain and Max, his helper were kind and attentive. I’m so glad you were able to locate this boat and crew for us. I travel constantly and generally do all of the arranging myself. Never in a million years could I have crafted what you did. It was worth every penny and then some. Thank you both. I wish I knew a similar customer-focused agency in Paris. You set the bar for excellence!Written 4 October 2024
- TravelExpert0070 contributionsBest Tour Ever!My wife and I booked a private three-day Full Amsterdam and Dutch Countryside Experience with guides Esther and Timm and a private canal tour with Captain Wim. Each tour went smoothly and was fantastic. Generally, my wife and I are not big tour people; however, this was by far the best experience we have ever had. Each guide was knowledgeable, provided us with the history, and pointed out things we would have missed independently. We always felt comfortable and could do things at our own pace. Again, everything felt so relaxed and natural, and everyone was super friendly. Each person was genuinely sincere and honestly enjoyed being a guide. Likewise, Tom and his team answered all our questions, and the booking process was seamless. Thanks again, Tom and team, for providing such an enjoyable part of our vacation!Written 5 September 2024
- elisarD780FB0 contributionsGreat Amsterdam and Day Trip ToursWe enjoyed all of the tours we took with Toms Travel Tours, and highly recommend them. We took a walking tour of Amsterdam with Stan, and a tour of the Van Gogh Museum and Rijksmuseum with Romy. We also took several private day tours from Amsterdam: a tour of Keukenhof and the tulip fields with Joyce, a tour of De Haar Castle, Naarden and Utrecht with Fred, and a tour of Delft and The Hague with Timm. Tom was very responsive when we were planning our trip. He made very helpful suggestions regarding places to see, and prepared a customized itinerary based on our interests. All of our guides were friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We enjoyed the time we spent with all of them, and learned a lot about each place we visited. Each guide made an effort to personalize our tours and to create a memorable trip. For example, Fred suggested that we take a slight detour on our way to Utrecht to drive through Breukelen, which we found to be both interesting and beautiful. We enjoyed stopping for coffee with Stan, and for lunch with Joyce and Fred. During our trip to the tulip fields, Joyce bought us a bouquet of tulips, which made for a very cheerful addition to our hotel room during our stay in Amsterdam. We are very glad that we used Toms Travel Tours to arrange our trip. If we return to Amsterdam, we will definitely use Toms Travel Tours again.Written 30 August 2024
- travelor_70 contributionsLovely day trip from Amsterdam with an enthusiastic local guide.Timm showed us a wonderful time in Leiden and Delft. She was enthusiastic and easy to spend time with. The towns were peaceful, uncrowded and charming. It was a wonderful day out of the city. Great to be in the capable hands of a local, knowledgeable person. Highly recommended.Written 24 August 2024
- N8195EZjerryh0 contributionsTrip to Friesland Family rootsWe arranged with Toms Travel Tours to visit Friesland and Groningen in Northern Netherlands, where our families came from. We provided Tom with family history and Joren did further research. He was able to trace my family back a few more generations in the Netherlands and found the location my great great grandfather farmed in Friesland before he immigrated to the US. We were able to stand on the site where he farmed. It was the highlight of our trip. During the course of the tour Joren was listening to my wife and I as we were talking and changed the itinerary based on our conversations. We ended the day with an overview of Groningen. He even suggested some places we could visit the next day on our own Very knowledgeable and helpful.Written 8 July 2024
- E8713SLterriw0 contributionsThe best way to see Amsterdam! My husband and I recently had the pleasure of experiencing a series of tours with Tom’s Travel Tours, and we cannot recommend them highly enough. Their attention to detail, timely connections, clear communication, personalized service, and knowledgeable guides made our trip to the Netherlands truly unforgettable. This review covers multiple tours with Tom’s Travel Tours, over the course of three days in Amsterdam. If you have the opportunity to go on any or all of their tours, they are worth every penny!! *** PRIVATE DUTCH COUNTRYSIDE TOUR WITH SCHIPHOL AIRPORT PICK-UP *** On day one, Jeroen picked us up at Schiphol Airport and we went on a journey through the picturesque Dutch Countryside. The pace of our tour allowed us to explore in the direction we most enjoyed and to make spontaneous stops as we drove through local areas. We visited fishing villages, toured a working windmill, enjoyed a presentation on making cheese and met one of the last authentic craftsmen of Dutch clogs. Jeroen was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing fascinating insights about the history and culture of each location. Not only did he know the best places to visit, he also introduced us to many of the local people that he seemed have known for years. Every stop was very incredibly hospitable. Jeroen really started our trip off right!! *** PRIVATE VAN GOGH MUSEUM AND AMSTERDAM WALKING TOUR *** On day two, we enjoyed a guided tour of the Van Gogh Museum, with Julia. Her expertise of art and knowledge of Van Gogh not only brought the art to life but added layers of meaning to the experience. Following the museum, we strolled through the surrounding neighborhoods. She pointed out hidden gems, took us to a local cafe and shared stories about the history of Amsterdam and what it is like to grow up, live, and work there. This tour with Julia was immediately following a visit on our own to the Anne Frank House. Julia was able to add in a walk through the Jewish quarter where she shared so much more information! The neighborhood and the historic landmarks really tied this entire day together. This was an unexpected bonus. We had such a great time with Julia - just like hanging out with an old friend. **ALL credit also goes to Tom’s Travel Tours for getting us Tickets to the Anne Frank House in the first place! Tickets are only for sale online, six weeks in advance, and sell out instantly. Tom was able to get tickets for us when we could not. *** PRIVATE LOCAL FOOD TOUR *** While in Amsterdam we were taken on a culinary adventure through the heart of the city sampling a variety of Dutch delicacies. We tried herring and fresh fruit from a local market, speculaas, stroopwafels, bitterballen, croquettes, cheeses, local beer, wine, cocktails, and so many other treats. Every bite was an adventure. We appreciated the personal anecdotes and historical context that our guides provided. It was a perfect blend of food and culture! *** WALKING TOUR WITH PHOTOGRAPHY OF THE JORDAAN AND WESTERN ISLANDS *** On our third day, we enjoyed a walking tour of Amsterdam’s Jordaan and Western Islands with Tom, the owner of Tom’s Travel Tours (yes, THE Tom! lol). This experience combined rich local history and personal stories that made the tour truly special. We wandered through picturesque streets, canals, and bridges, each turn offering a perfect photo opportunity. Lucky for us, and totally unexpected, Tom brought along his camera and took some stunning shots of us. There were some of the best photos from our entire vacation. Tom later shared these with us, and we were thrilled with the quality and creativity of his work. Throughout the day, Tom's storytelling was captivating. He shared anecdotes and insights into the daily life of Amsterdam’s residents, giving us a real sense of day-to-day life in the city. His stories ranged from historical events to to quirky local customs, all delivered with a delightful sense of humor, genuine excitement, and affection for his hometown. There just can’t be a better way to see Amsterdam than with Tom and his team of experts!!Written 30 June 2024
- mwmsiver0 contributionsWonderful day in the Dutch CountrysideWe booked two tours with Tom's Travel and were more than happy with each one. The 1/2 day walking tour, including the canal district and Jordan was a wonderful way for us to start our time in Amsterdam. The next day we booked the Dutch Countryside. Our guide Fred was very knowledgeable and a pleasure to spend the day with. More importantly he was extremely flexible, as our day progressed, we made changes to the day based on information Fred was sharing with us and our own preference for what we wanted to see. We would highly recommend Tom's Travel.Written 6 June 2024
- petergL3160QR0 contributionsFred from Tom Travel Tours is outstanding.Fred from Tom Travel Tours was the perfect tour guide. Four of us were in Amsterdam on the second stop of an eighteen day, five country vacation. My wife's luggage was lost by KLM the night we arrived at AMS and we didn't get to our hotel until midnight. We asked if Fred could come at 10:00 instead 9:00 in the morning. No Problem. He was upbeat and clearly committed to giving us a memorable day and putting the travel challenge on the back burner for a few hours. Fred was friendly throughout and took us to some beautiful spots, explaining the history and current state of the land, the towns, and the sea. When the weather turned briefly dicey he took us to a spot for coffee and we talked as friends. He even volunteered to call KLM and speak to them in Dutch to see if that would help expedite the suitcase recovery. (Unfortunately it didn't work and two weeks later, still no bag). He brought us to a great place for lunch and gave the four of us some time together. After lunch we continued on and saw some uniquely Amsterdam sites. Because of our later start, we missed a formal Windmill tour, but, undaunted, Fred convinced a woman living in a nearby windmill if we could check it out. Fred's knowledge of the windmills was such that we got the full treatment. The end of the tour is when Fred was extraordinary. Knowing my wife had almost nothing because of the lost baggage, he took us to a shopping area, after his scheduled time with us was up, and waited for us to buy some essentials before bringing us back to the hotel and giving us some restaurant and bar tips. And after we left Amsterdam we received follow up text messages asking how the rest of our trip was progressing! If you ever consider a tour around Amsterdam, you can do no better than Fred and Tom Travel Tours.Written 6 June 2024
- PaulL7910 contributionsOutstanding In EverywayMy wife and I booked three days of private tours with Toms Travel Tours. Tom sent me an email with touring ideas. I called him multiple times to finalize our itinerary. He was patient discussing all our options. We visited multiple museums, windmills, castles and tulip fields. Both our guides (Joyce and Jeroen) are so knowledgeable and accommodating. I now know why Amsterdam is a great area to visit thanks to Tom Travel Tours.Written 27 May 2024
- PigPan9010 contributionsAmazing visit to the Tulip Fields and countryside near AmsterdamHighly recommend Tom’s Travel Tours! I started commuting by email a couple of months before our trip at the end of April 2024. We didn’t know specifically what we wanted to do other than the country side outside of Amsterdam and we wanted to see the tulip fields. Tom was extremely quick to respond and offer lots of suggestions and options. We settled on a full day tour, and we were assigned Jeroen a few days before we arrived. Jeroen was phenomenal. He knew so much history and he made sure we got to see what we wanted. He was constantly tweaking things along the way based on what we were enjoying or asking for. We were towards the end of the blooming season, but Jeroen knew where to find the ones still available (and away from the crowds). Looking forward to booking a trip with TTT in the future!!Written 15 May 2024
- atlasmom0 contributionsThe Only Number You Need for Amsterdam!Tom and his team made our visit to Amsterdam a memorable one! We booked a couple experiences, including a private canal tour and a day tour out of the city to explore the countryside, including a trip to the famous Keukenhof tulip gardens as well as tulip fields, windmills, cheese factory and a phenomenal lunch. Tom even facilitated procurement of tickets for the Anne Frank House which were sold out for the date that I needed. Communication with Tom was very easy, he had great suggestions and helped us put together the best experiences for our group. Tom stayed available throughout to answer questions. The two experiences we booked were even better than we could have asked for. The canal tour was on a beautiful vessel with an extremely knowledgeable captain. Tom made sure that the end of the tour was timed to coincide with our tickets to the Anne Frank house and even had the captain drop us off nearby so that the museum was only steps away. Our day trip to Keukenhof and the tulip fields to the north was led by Chris who was knowledgeable, personable and engaging. He expertly guided us to see everything we wanted to see, recommended a wonderful place for lunch and even took group pictures. I would recommend Tom and his team without hesitation. I know that when I plan my next trip to Amsterdam, Tom will be my first contact!Written 13 May 2024
- chelsearjohnson120 contributionsUnique and Personalized Tour!We were lucky enough to have Tom be our guide for a full day through tulip fields and it was a huge highlight on our trip. Tom was wonderfully accommodating and helpful when we added on two friends last minute and created a really beautiful, unique day for us. We told him we didn't want to go to some of the overcrowded areas and he took us to fields where we were the only people. We even made a fun pitstop to do a cheese tasting and then Tom took us up to the beach - something we would have never considered doing during our last day. It was such a special personalized experience. I am a travel advisor and have already recommended Tom to several clients with upcoming trips to the area.Written 10 May 2024
- H2557WEjoanneh0 contributionsWe highly recommend Toms Travel ToursMy husband and I had a wonderful experience with Tom’s Travel Tours in mid-April. Tom and his team provided extremely helpful information as we planned our itinerary for tours in the city and to the countryside. Tom also took care of getting us tickets to the Anne Frank House, the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum. The trip started smoothly with Ertug waiting for us as we came out of the luggage area and provided commentary about the city as we drove to our hotel. We had a wonderful early evening canal tour with Wim, and this gave us a chance to see the city from the water as we navigated the large and small canals. The next day we had a highly informative walking tour with Chris as we learned a great deal about the city history and explored areas on foot that we would not have seen on our own. Joyce did a fantastic job navigating us away from the crowds at Keukenhof so that we could see each beautifully landscaped beds with relative ease. This visit was one of the highlights of our trip along with the stops at the Schermerhorn windmills, Edam and Marken. Our final tour with Rein to The Hague filled with information about the government center, the Vermeers and Rembrandts at Mauritshuis. This was followed by our visit to Delft as we learned about the history of the New Church and explored the charming Market Square and downtown area. We can highly recommend Tom’s Travel Tours for planning a special customized experience in Amsterdam and the surrounding countryside.Written 7 May 2024

- WIfamily30 contributionsA day of memories! What a great day we had with Jacky! My daughter and I wanted to visit the windmills, tulips and other places outside Amsterdam without having to be part of a group tour. Tom’s team was very responsive and helpful in planning the perfect day for us. Jacky was right on time and was so warm from the outset we knew it was going to be a great day. She made sure we got to see everything we had on our bucket list and added a few of her own ideas which we loved (especially lunch and the bakery stop in Edam). We had so much fun and tons of laughs along the way. Jacky started the day as our guide and finished the day as our friend. If you are considering a private tour….this is the company!Written 7 April 2024

I have done six tours over the past eight years with Toms Travel Tours: three 3-hours’ walking tours and three full-day country tours. They were always excellent (that is why I keep returning). Albeit somewhat on the expensive side (but, for private tours acceptable prices) they provide top-notch service. the guides are obviously hand-picked. All the six whose tours I had the pleasure to do were high-level professionals with excellent English, polite, flexible, ever so helpful. This time we did the 3-hours’walking tour (canal district and Jordan) with Marjorie and the country tour (Marken, Edam, the Beemster polder and the Schermerhorn windmill) with Jeroen; both tours up to my very high expectations. Thank Tom for contributing to a great holiday!
