About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- hankmeyer1717170 contributionsZooming through the streets in relative safety!Excellent and fun way to see Rotterdam, about 3 hours, moderate cycling challenge and interesting to ride bikes near cars and in the streets of the city. Our guide made stops to enlighten us further about some key points and history of Rotterdam.Written 20 August 2024
- robertodJ4213HW0 contributionsLess narration, more explorationAfter having experienced some walking tours, this bicycle tour was more physically demanding, but we got to explore more of the city. It's not for athletes, but it's a decent workout. As for the tour itself, there's less narration from the tour guide than in a walking or boat tour, because she mostly just talked to us when we stopped at one landmark or another. The tour guide was not especially knowledgeable and was not as fluent in english as other tour guides I've been with. Still, I would recommend this tour to price-conscious tourists. It's a great way to explore the city and get some exercise, the tour is inexpensive and the bicycles are provided for you, which is very convenient.Written 17 August 2024
- garydC361OA0 contributionsGreat introduction to the city...Easy paced tour, friendly and knowledgeable guide, a great 2.5 hours wheeling our way around the city. Opportunities also to walk, go in the market hall etc. Cheers, The Boys from ManchesterWritten 3 August 2024
- licher1850 contributionsGreat introduction to RotterdamWe were lucky as it was more like a private tour since the other group apparently rescheduled their dates. Cas, our tour guide was great at giving us a history of Rotterdam and also of what to come of the changes that will happen in the skyline of Rotterdam. What made it especially special was Cas's personal stories and his views of the changing of Rotterdam that I took as really an inspiration of the progressiveness of the people and city of Rotterdam. I hope to come back again in 5-10 years to see this changes. For anyone visiting Rotterdam and want to know the city, don't hesitate to make a booking with Inside Rotterdam, you'll not regret it.Written 13 July 2024
- 605kimee0 contributionsGreat tour of city and quality food! Watch for closing times. We thoroughly enjoyed our food tour. The fact that it was self-guided was what enticed me in the first place, in that you can go at your own pace. However, READ all the information about the stops AHEAD of starting. Depending on your start time, you may not want to dawdle too much, as a couple of the stops have closing times noted. We were very fortunate that the Chocoholic owner was so sweet to let us come in 5 min before closing, and stayed longer in order for us to enjoy his chocolates ... one of the highlights! But sadly we missed the Markthal greek pie. The quality of each food stop was excellent! I would never have known about the "kipsalon" without this tour ... the dish at Boca's. Was even considering going back the next day to grab one before getting on our cruise. Alas, no time. We enjoyed the fact that smaller 'entrepreneurial' stops were used for the tour. It was a very inciteful tour. But be prepared with good walking shoes.Written 9 June 2024
- 605kimee0 contributionsGreat easy biking tour of Rotterdam!Great idea for early in a trip to Rotterdam to get the lay of the land. As a 68yo female, only occasional bike-rider, the tour was easily followed, safe and not too strenuous. The bikes were well-maintained and easy to ride. Our guide was very easy to understand and knowledgeable. With only four of us in the group, it made for a relaxed and informative tour. Saw many highlights and side areas we might not have visited if we were on our own. Gained an immense appreciation of Rotterdam!Written 9 June 2024
- EsperDK0 contributionsGreate guide which made the tour very interestingHad a great tour. Went to see all the highlights and also some areas that we would never have found on our own. The guide was super. Very friendly and had a lot of interesting things to tell about the city in a very good way. Would recommend this trip to anyone.Written 5 May 2024
- sharkfactor0 contributionsHighly recommend this bike tour for seeing Rotterdam!Excellent bike tour of Rotterdam with Flora from Inside Rotterdam. We were two parents and an adult son, had only a couple days in the city, but wanted to see a lot of the varied architecture and highlights in the time we had. We also appreciated getting a little exercise and outside time instead of just walking inside a museum! Flora had a wonderful knowledge of the city and its culture, made us feel very welcomed, and also gave us good instruction and guidance to navigate the streets on bikes when we knew very little about the rules of the road that are very different from our home city. We all bike in the US but it's a very different infrastructure for biking and pedestrians. Would give the tour and the tour guide more than five stars if I could! My only recommendation is that, while most people in the city do not wear helmets, I felt much safer borrowing one of the ones the company provides if you want it.Written 25 April 2024
- PatS4110 contributionsGreat Bike TourOur bike guide was wonderful and very knowledgeable. Everyone should try this tour because you get to see an amazing port and get exercise too!Written 1 November 2023
- R7727EKannek0 contributionsHighly recommendable!Great tour, highly recommendable. Enjoyed tourguide Rob, his extensive knowledge of Rotterdam and its history and the places we visited. Although I’ve been living in Rotterdam for 30+ years now, there were some secrets that were still new to me. Due to severe wind we did not bike the bridge, bit took the tunnel. Great alternative! Want to see what Rotterdam has to offer in an enjoyable, relatively easy way? Take this tour!Written 14 October 2023
- L624RElouism0 contributionsThe center of Rotterdam, very beautiful and interestingOur guide Margot (3 languages) showed us and commented (she is architect) the center of Rotterdam. It was very interesting and allowed us to come back to the centre and review all that in depth. I recommend.Written 6 September 2023

We recommend this excellent tour with Rob visiting 5 rooftops, if you include a raised station. Most are places you can’t access yourself. Rob was very knowledgeable about his city answering a range of questions. Seeing a city from above is always fun, this takes that concept a bit further as he explained why it’s so important in a time of climate change why these rooftops need to be used more creatively.

Amaizing tour with architectural background. Margot, our guide was amazing. Very knowledgeable being an architect, but also up to date on the history and current events.

Somehow several participants including me were somehow believing to participate in the Dakentour that is posible there during 1 month but sold out on most dates - It seems that the advertisement is misleading. This tour brings you onto 4 roofs with nice views some or all of which you may be able to visit for free if you know where, although access might not be easy for some of them. I joined the tour in Dutch as my Dutch is decent. The guide is relatively friendly and knowledgeable as she is Architect. My friend and me found both that the tour did not really fulfill the expectations. I personally think that the guide is not really experienced and qualified as a tourguide. She lacks capability to submit most important information clearly to everybody. After the beginning which started promising, she more and more got used to talk to people in personal talks, in low voice and without clear pronounciation. There was less and less clear quality information and I struggled to understand her although I watch every day NOS journal and understand 95%. I do not regret to have made the tour but I think they should provide more to the customers. I have joined many paid and free tours over the world and the average standard of tour guides is much higher. The guide lacks professionality as a tour guide and therefore the knowledge has no impact. In contrast, I have met many guides who acquired a lot of knowledge mainly through the job training and daily practice and were outstanding and impressive and could transfer an incredible amount of useful information in a very refreshing way. This was not really the case here, there is a big gap I would say.

Dear Lampia, thank you for your feedback and insights. We value this and will take it to heart. I will reflect on it together with the guide in question.
Allow me to comment on some aspects that you mention. Firstly, I think you must have mixed up our Rooftop tour, which have been existing since 2018 and is offered weekly, with the current Rooftopwalk which is a temporary event. In our description we nowhere mention you will visit the Rooftopwalk and we clearly state the rooftops which you will visit and the concept that you're joining.
Secondly, the rooftops that you visited are allmost all (4 out of 5) exclusively accessible for our group, and are not accessible for free. You might have seen our guide with keys and entrance codes. These are needed to enter. Also the area on the Dakakker (rooftopgarden) is not publicly accessible and can only be visited with a guide. The fifth rooftop is the Luchtpark and this publicly accessible and we consider this the bonus rooftop.
Last, I regret to read that your expectations have not been met. And you are absolutely right that the guide should be easy to understand and provide lots of valuable and interesting content. We always do our best to provide this and to sense how we can fulfil the needs and interests of all our participants. For this we partly rely on the direct feedback of participants. So I regret that you didnt mention to the guide directly that you couldnt hear her clearly. In that way she could, and I'm sure she would be very happy to, speak louder and you would hear more of the content of the tour. Nevertheless, we will ofcourse be more sensible to this, and will double check in the future if everybody hears and understands us correctly.
All best,
Ariane

My wife and I went on the Rotterdam Rooftop tour during our recent visit to the city. For anyone merely wishing to see Rotterdam in a very different way, this tour is great - but if you're also interested in architecture, buildings and sustainability - then it's a phenomenal tour! Our guide, Margot - who is an architect herself, lead us on a really fascinating walkabout from building-to-building, where we discovered how this forward-thinking city is cleverly using roof spaces as gardens, public spaces and for water storage. Margot was incredibly knowledgeable and went to great lengths to model the tour around our individual interests. The good weather was a bonus - this is an excellent tour, which I would highly recommend! - thank you Margot and Inside Rotterdam!

It was a great tour with nice views and a great tour guide who gave us lots of interesting information about the city, its rooftops and its history. The only thing that was a bit of a shame was that we didn‘t have that much time to take pictures everywhere we went since we rushed from one place to the next.
