It's a beautiful island with lots of places to walk and hike. It's green and lush. People are very nice and friendly. Hotels and restaurants are easily accessible. Azores are 2 hour flight from Lisbon.

All was fine. The guide was good informed anf friendly. Ths skipper knew what he was doing. We've seen some common dolphins, but the disappeared too fast to photograph them. The Islet was amazing!

Boat ride over and back was smooth and once on the islet, the history, geology and the animal and plant life were discussed quite well.

Had a great experience my first time whale watching! Some thoughts below: - We went 10/15 at 8:30AM - We saw dozens and dozens of common dolphins and 5-6 sperm whales - Our tour guide (her name escapes me but she was French) was wonderful! - If you get seasick, I'd skip this. You're going out in the open ocean - the water is rough - Orientation video on the ocean was interesting but dramatic, it left a lasting impression on us, so I'd say the goal was achieved - Wear wet weather clothing or take the wet jackets they offer. The weather changed numerous times, from cool and clear, to pelting rain, to scorching hot and sunny - 360 tour of the Ilhéu de Vila Franca do Campo island on the way back to shore was the cherry on top to a great morning whale watching - For those reading this next year thinking about an October trip, while we did see 5-6 sperm whales, the tour guides themselves were surprised and they said they had not seen any in almost a month

This was the most disappointing whale watching trip I have ever been on. I was so worried the woman in front of me was going to be seasick at any moment and the thighs of the person behind me rubbed against my legs the whole trip. And no whales were sighted!!

Highly recommend. A knowledgable and proffessional staff. One of the very few companies operating in the off-season.

The whale watching excursion was a last minute decision and Terra Azul was extremely accommodating, friendly, and respectful. The exercursion had a slight delay due to winds, but the team ensured to communicate promptly. The excursion went really well, and the Terra Azul team was very knowledgable regarding marine life and ensuring our safety. during the excursion, we saw two pods of dolphins and a sperm whale. Overall, I would highly recommend this excursion!

It was a nice tour. Very well organized and the staff were competent and friendly. When we come back we will do the tour again.

The boat ride was a bit rough (I got seasick and wished I had taken more aggressive precautions beforehand), but WE SAW SPERM WHALES! It was absolutely incredible and the guides were phenomenal.

This was easily one of the top experiences in my life. We got to see 5 sperm whales and a pod of about 40 dolphins. The crew is super experienced and knowledgeable and you can clearly see their deep passion for the ocean and for the animals. I can’t recommend this enough!

This family owned and run business was amazing. Pickup was right on time, Maria was a delight giving us some history of the island on the way to the marina from the hotel across the street from the cruise ship. Once we arrived at the marina the process was smooth and timely. The actual tour was also amazing, we saw whales AND dolphins. They know what they're doing ! Thanks to all the team at Terra Azul !

We departed on time. Our captain and guide were super-cool, talkative, skilled and friendly. Keep your expectations realistic. Do not assume you get to see everything you want, because that is nature. We got to see Dolphins, even though I was silently praying to see whales too. Next time I am visiting, I will definitely book this trip again!

Everything was professionally organized. We were lucky enough to see lots of animals in great weather. The final part of the trip, circumnavigating the island in front of Vila Franca do Campo, was sensational.

The trip was well prepared and organised. Staff were helpful and friendly. I enjoyed it a lot, but it’s not for the seasick!

I went to the whale watching trip with my husband on 2nd November 2024. Even though we did not see the whales, we were able to spot two large groups of dolphins and to take a look around the beautiful island near Villa Franca de Campo. Our skipper made us feel super safe, even though the waves were big and lots of people felt sea sick.
