Such a wonderful tour. Cecilia was a lovely guide. She intertwined culture, food, customs, history and drink in a wonderful way. We learned about the good, the bad, the ugly - and the very tasty! I would highly recommend doing this as soon as possible once arriving in Lisboa, as it gives a great perspective of the city and helps you plan what to do next. I think this tour attracts really cool people as well. Loved the conversations with other people. Got the scoop on what to do in Ireland on a future trip (great bonus!)

Be sure to be ready to walk and be outdoors. Wear comfortable shoes and appropriate clothing for the season. We visited in late May, so shorts, sunglasses and flip flops were perfect.

Rita was our guide for the trip, very knowledgeable and full of enthusiasm, after introductions were made, we were off. The tour covered a wide range of tastes and venues, taking in all that the locals like to eat and drink. Coffee and cakes to start, then Ginjinha to set us up for the day. Rita not only talked about food but gave us a history lesson behind each item we sampled and also stopped at places of historic significance to tell us a little more about history, which was all both informative and put across in an enjoyable way. We were taken to a local family run restaurant to sample Bacalhau à brás, octopus, prawns etc and washed it down with a glass of wine. We had Bifanas -pork sandwich with sweet mustard and piri piri oil (delicious) washed down with a beer. It lasted around 4.5hrs and finished up in the timeout food Market, the food hall was packed but the trading stalls were empty due to it being a holiday, pastel de nata ( custard tarts), ended the trip. All in all a very very good way to spend half a day in Lisbon and if you are lucky enough to have Rita as your guide she will ensure it is filled with fun and laughter.

Spent a wonderful day with Lorena and Devour tours learning about the food and history of Lisbon. And eating and drinking a lot too! From iconic pastries to bacalao, iberico ham and ginja. Woven throughout was ancient and modern history. Lorena also gave restaurant recs for later and we enjoyed Faca e Garfo for an affordable, local dinner in Chiado. TY to the entire Devour team for also providing great customer service when we had problem with our reservation (that was entirely my fault).

The total experience was memorable. Jaime was passionate about food and its role in the culture of a country and knowledgable about the background of the establishments visited and the traditional cooking techniques they used. He also provided information about some of the historical buildings we passed and the events that shaped Lisbon. He gave insights into the joys of being a Lisboetas and the issues currently facing them. Jaime was keen to establish a rapport with the group and generous with his time in answering the range of questions we put to him. We learnt a lot about food, but also so much more! A highly recommended introduction to Lisbon.

Rita and Lorena (lucky us - they both came our day) were fantastic hosts. Our morning of tastes and traditions actually exceeded the high expectations we had, after we experienced another Devour Tour (a Pintxos crawl) in San Sebastian.

This was truly an insiders experience - like having a best friend in a new city take you to their favorite places. We not only ate amazing food in tiny spots that only a local would know, but we learned a lot of interesting Lisboa history about how each shop/restaurant came to be there, and why. We are not the type for tours. But, this is not your typical tour by any stretch of the imagination.

Devour Lisbon was the best part of a wonderful visit. You could tell that our guides loved introducing us to the tastes and shop owners, and sincerely wanted us to have a great time. Just don't try to sneak in any breakfast before you begin.

We began on a rainy December morning, with several people who had dropped out because of the rain, but it did not dampen our guide's enthusiasm. Rita was absolutely the best guide, combining a deep knowledge of Portugal's history, her own life experience in Lisbon, and providing a seamless transition from location to location. The tour gave us a chance to sample some dishes we might not have had otherwise, and it have us the knowledge to know what we wanted to eat again during our stay in Portugal. However, it was the historical information Rita provided that really provided context and perspective about the Portuguese people and their food.

We have been on several Devour tours in other cities and several other food tours, and my wife and I both said this was the best food tour we've had. Devour tours are awesome. A Devour tour with Rita is A++.

A wonderful couple of hours spent in Lisbon being guided by Rita around the sights and tastes of the city, with lots of interesting facts and pieces of history to give an incredible overview to the Portuguese capital. We've been to Lisbon three times before but this trip unearthed places we would never have thought of or consider to try, as well as places we've walked by countless times before without knowing the history or significance. Rita was full of information about her hometown and passion for her country's cuisine, and much like the first Devour tour that we did in San Sebastián two years ago, the guide is the star here. Devour seems to have a really amazing team of energetic, charming, funny and professional tour guides. Would really recommend, and looking forward to booking again on our next city break!

Olá! Wow—what an incredibly kind review! Thank you so much for joining us recently in Lisbon. It's so great to hear that even though this wasn't your first visit to the city, Rita's local knowledge still helped you discover something new and make the most of your time here! Thanks so much again and we hope to see you on tour with us again soon! Best wishes, Lindsey

This was a wonderful way to start my trip in Lisbon. The tour is now operating for private groups to give customers more comfort in the post COVID world. My tour guide Rita was friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about Portuguese food and tradition. She took me around the city to explore local gems and told me about the history / stories of food I tried or about Lisbon / Portugal. As some venues remain closed post lock down, she was still able to plan out a way for me to try everything intended. After the tour she even gave me advice to help me plan the rest of my trip. I highly recommend Devour Tours.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a lovely review about your time with Rita. We love hearing that our guests had a great time, but it's even more important to us at times like this. Rita is a fantastic person to spend time with on your trip to Lisbon, she - and the rest of our team! - are really passionate about sharing their hometown with visitors. I hope we will see you in Spain or one of our other cities in Europe again soon!

It was an amazing tour that not only involved the most amazing food in Lisbon, but also its history. Lorena was an incredible guide who explained to us everything about the restaurants/shops that we visited, the food that we ate, and the history of the places we walked by. She also gave us pointers as to what is best to avoid in Lisbon, how to navigate certain things, and what other places/restaurants to visit. This tour is especially helpful to do on the first day of arrival to Lisbon because it is a great introduction to the city. It is an amazing experience that I would totally do again - whether it be in Lisbon again, or in a different city where Devour offers their services. Loved it!

We decided to take part in Devour Tours Lisbon food tours on our first full day in Lisbon and what an amazing experience it was. Rita, our guide, was a wonderfully charismatic story teller who gave us such a warm welcome and showed us all these amazing places with wonderful food.

We tried everything from a Portuguese breakfast (sweet pastries/bread), the top top top Portuguese ham that melts in your mouth, the essential cherry liquid Ginjinha, very local mixtures of Bacalhau (salted cod) and so many more dishes it was hard to keep track.

Not only do you get to enjoy local Portuguese cuisine, but you get a guided tour of the history and interesting buildings, locations and history of Lisbon as well.

We have to give a lot of thanks to Rita, our guide, because the experience would not have been the same without her passion, insight and storytelling abilities. If you’re considering this, do it. I’m sure you won’t regret it.
