About
Climb aboard our vintage Portuguese 4x4s and tackle the best of the Sintra. You’ll explore the mysterious Quinta da Regaleira and eat a traditional Portuguese lunch (with wine, of course) before cruising off-road through Sintra’s lush forests, to emerge at the seaside cliffs of mainland Europe’s westernmost point, Cabo da Roca.
Passing from hilltop castles to the sheer coastline of the UNESCO world heritage landscape. We take you to secret lookouts and hidden beaches. In summer, feel the breeze whip through your hair as we bounce along off-road tracks with the roof off. In the cooler months we keep the roof on, turn the music up, splash through puddles of mud as we swerve past house-sized boulders, pine forests and giant ferns. This is why we love to go off-road, play epic tunes all day long and give you the chance to taste Sintra’s traditional sweet “travesseiro” pastry and homemade “ginja” liqueur. Join us for an unforgettable day of adventure, laughs and local legends.

Friends who happened to share the day together were so amazing. Super Mario, and pick up guy, Matteus, were so polite, and happy persons. The jeep was handy and fun to travell with., music bringing the great athmosphere. The treats, lunch and treatment we got couldn t have been better.Remembering with love. Portugal in short was lived in one day. Just lovable. Thanks all RiittaWritten 2 November 2024
- Julian D0 contributionsSintra by localsIt was a brilliant experience by our guide, driver and companion. He gave us details and insights at the places we visited. The highlights were the amazing views, the private luncheon by locals and the way he made us feel that the tour was unique to us. You wont see the tourist sights like Pena Palace, but you get to see the real Sintra from the eyes of locals.Written 25 October 2024

- Discover675662236030 contributionsSuch a Fantastic and FUN day!!First of all, thank you to our amazing guide John. He truly made this day a memorable one. This was a fantastic and really FUN day full of palaces, beautiful gardens, off-roading in a UMM, beaches, a wonderful lunch with warm hospitality and Cabo Da Roca. 6 hours of pure awe and adrenaline. I can't imagine any better way to see and do all the things we did. We highly recommend John and the FlaminGO team!Written 10 September 2024
- AaronS_Tr170 contributionsA phenomenal adventure exploring Sintra! Our FlaminGO Experience was one of the best experiences my wife and I had throughout our honeymoon. Our new Portuguese friend, Mario, took us and our group around Sintra to show us the beautiful castles and countryside where he grew up. Through Mario sharing his local perspective of the area throughout our stops, we were able to have such a personal experience as we explored our different stops throughout the day. Not only did we see a number of beautiful spots that we didn't anticipate, but we also had the flexibility to shift our initial plans, so that we could avoid standing and waiting in hour long lines at some of the tourist "hotspots". For our lunch, the local Portuguese cuisine and wine were some of the best food that we had on our trip. We truly couldn't have been happier with our experience with FlaminGO and were sad to go when we came to the end of our day. If you are looking to explore Sintra and are up for a great adventure, we highly recommend booking a FlaminGO Experience!Written 4 September 2024

- byrany20240 contributionsBreathtaking Views, Great Food, Amazing CompanyWe went all around Sintra, taking in the beautiful views of all the palaces, castles, hills, beaches, and cliffs around the area. Nelson gave a detailed background on big sites and included small details about the region on why trees were brought in, history of cork trees, etc. His entertaining descriptions and great suggestions for what to do and when helped us really take in all the beauty in a relaxed but fun experience. Would highly recommend to others and friends.Written 8 July 2024
- J4418SRmichaell0 contributionsUnique experience seeing Sintra and the coastIf you want to explore the beauty of Sintra and the coastline with a lovely lunch along the way, then this is your tour. We had the pleasure of spending the day with Mario who shared the history of Sintra, toured us through the Quinta da Regaleira, brought us to a wonderful lunch, and then stopped at a local beach before off roading up to the cliffs overlooking the ocean. Last we stopped at Cabo de Raco, the westernmost point in Europe for beautiful views. All of this while driven around in a 1980s jeep. A unique experience with a wonderful guide. Highly recommend.Written 8 July 2024

- Wkruger070 contributionsSave your money!I recently booked this tour on my last night in Lisbon. I was really excited for the hike and to see the beautiful sites in Sintra. Our tour was in a “vintage” aka unsafe jeep that had bars above our heads. There were no seat belts in the back which felt really unsafe as our driver was speeding along the drive. Sadly we wizzed by Sintra and I wasn’t even able to appreciate its’ beauty. Unfortunately it started to rain so our guide decided to switch up our itinerary because it wasn’t safe to hike on the slippery rocks. If you’re interested in seeing cool palaces in Sintra, do not book this tour. It’s perfect for those seeking a thrill seeking jeep ride with beautiful views.Written 28 June 2024
- 457lenf0 contributionsEPIC Tour includes a little bit of everything for everyoneBook this EPIC tour. Mario was knowledgable and engaging as our tour guide. The history, beauty and taste of castles, coastline and cuisine made it well worth twice as much.Written 16 June 2024
- MeaghanCAN0 contributionsOff roading dreamThis trip was a last minute booking after spending a couple days exploring around Sintra and really wanting to get out on to the trails and to the coast. I had Rueben as a guide and he was amazing, shared a lot of information, was easy going, and great to get a long with. An experience I would definitely complete again or another tour by the company!Written 10 June 2024

Our host was Diogo and he made sure our day was the best one we had visiting Lisbon. He was full of knowledge of the local area and we appreciated being shown round an area which he is clearly proud to live and work in.
Not only did we experience the typical 'tourist spots' in Sintra, but also had a great experience in a traditional Portuguese restaurant, at a quiet and tranquil beach, a taste of the local wine and a fun ride through the forest.
I would highly recommend this trip for anyone visiting the area who wants an authentic and fun experience in Sintra!

This is an EXCEPTIONAL experience and you cannot miss it. The team works hard to put on a seamless trip and they excel at what they do. Mario went above and beyond to make everyone feel comfortable and give us each a personalized experience. I saw so much of Sintra that I never would have been able to see otherwise - the tour guides all grew up there and they give you the real “insider experience.” You are making a mistake if you don’t go with FlaminGO!!

We loved our day around Sintra with Francisco. We were a family of 6, spanning ages 6 to 72, and well all had an amazing experience. We started the day at Quinta da Regaleira, then had a great lunch at a local restaurant, saw the gorgeous views at Cabo da Roca and finished with a scenic drive down to Cascais. The jeep made the trip special and the kids (the little ones and big ones) couldn't stop laughing during the off-roading part. We spent 10 days in Portugal/Spain and when we talked about our favorite part of the trip at the end, our jeep tour was the clear winner of our entire vacation. We won't hesitate to book another trip with them again when we return! I'm sure all of the guides are great, but we loved ours. He was so great and patient with our two kids. Cannot recommend this tour more. I hesitate to even call it a "tour" because it honestly felt more like a new friend showing you around town.

Sintra itself is a beautiful tourist attraction however the guides on the trip go above and beyond to not only bring out more beauty, but to share their passions with their groups. My guide, Mario, did an amazing job of teaching us about the city as well as giving us a great experience. The guides were all friendly and very knowledgeable, their passion defintely shows.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Jeep Tour of Sintra. Our guide Ricardo was not only extremely knowledgeable of not only all of Sintra's history but also Portuguese history in general.
To top it off, he was also a genuinely nice guy with a good sense of humour!
Our first stop was The Quinta da Regaleira. A stunning 20th century Palace in Sintra. Ricardo's guiding of the palace grounds was excellent.
Ricardo knew all the best places to take us to avoid the busy tourist areas. This included a fabulous traditional lunch at Pensão Sisudo in Colares. As a note for those who are going to book, it may be an idea to take cash for lunch however Ricardo stopped at an ATM close to the restaurant so it was not an issue.
After lunch we visited a simply gorgeous beach at Praia da Adraga. The weather was superb and the Sea water and colour was just amazing!
We then had a beautiful coastal drive all the way to Cascais.
Ricardo finished the tour by giving us all a Traditional Sintra sweet called Queijada. This was delicious and a lovely touch.
We recommend the tour to anyone visiting Lisbon or Sintra. Many thanks Ricardo!

That was a great escape from a big city :) After two days in Lisbon we took this trip to feel more nature and ocean breeze. It was a perfect journey. Firstly we got familiar with an extraordinary spot - Quinta da Regaleira, full of amazing stories of Mr Monteiro. After that we had a great lunch with typical portugese dishes and wine. Later we've seen an oceanside from the viewpoint that noone apart from Nelson-our great guide would show you. We finished the day in a lovely Cascais. I truly recommend this team and their great approach to "their friends" as they name everyone who joins them for this trip.

My friends and I had an amazing experience on our Sintra jeep safari! Our host, Pedro was super friendly, accommodating and had an excellent knowledge of the local area. I live in Lisbon and kept asking him hundreds of questions about the local history and he gave me lots of in depth answers. We loved having him as our tour guide and couldn't recommend him more. The trip is such good value for money as you spend the entire exploring the coast! We ate some lovely traditional food and drank some tasty local wine. I am already planning my next trip with FlaminGO Experiences for when more friends and family visit. FlaminGO really go above and beyond to make sure that your every need is catered for and even throw in a few surprises. It was the perfect day!

We had a great time with Mario. We could have never had such an in depth and personal experience on our own. He brought us to one if his favorite restaurants where he knew everyone which made us feel so welcome. The beach and cliff views were fantastic with delicious Port to drink. Would definitely recommend this experience.

Husband and I are coming for our honeymoon - and we are leaving Lisbon to go to Cascais on Monday Sept 26th. Is there any room for luggage since the trip ends in Cascais (which is where we need to check in for our hotel)?

We are husband and wife- is this jeep for just us 2 people? What would the cost be? This is for first week in August.
Written 24 June 2022
The jeep is shared. We had a total of 6 people. I believe the cost was around 60 dollars each. We had a great time. It was fun meeting new people and sharing the day with them.

HELLO :)
Would anyone know if there is a chance for pick up services ? I have a hotel in Lisbon but it seems the train would take an hour to the location listed in the ad and travel by car seems much shorter according to google maps with exception of traffic levels
Written 5 February 2020
Although there may be pick up services from Lisbon, the train to the regular pick up location is not bad. It takes about 40-45 min, but the transportation system is very easy to navigate and most likely cheaper if that matters to you. The trickiest thing may be the interchange between trains - just follow the correct colors or talk to a person at an information station and you’ll be fine.
