the instructors were kind and helpful there in the first lesson immediately became a surfing very beautiful and beautiful place for family to relax

We are super impressed with the Madeira Surf Centre, particularly with the generosity and wonderful way that Ruben assisted us with all things surfing. All in all, could be better. I was a part of travel camp and surfing experience was booked for us by organisers as a part of a program. If I could, I would picked another activity or school. When we came it rained in the morning. I understand this school cannot control the weather, but they could pick better day for our group. The beach is not a beach in our normal understanding. It is pure rocks. Instructors in the water was nice, but guys before were cold and grumpy.

I have to confirm arrogance of the owner Ruben. Unfortunately, I haven’t read recent google reviews and tripadviser reviews. At the same time, there is any other alternative in that part of the island. An example of arrogance when I asked what boards they have for rent, he didn’t even looked at my direction, no interest, no help…I asked again, no reply as if I were a fly on the wall. Example of bad service. To be avoided.

Avoid at all cost. The owner, Ruben, is rude and aggressive. A friend and I asked about the possibility of renting neopren boots and were literally told to „f*** off“. Incredibly unprofessional. Would not let this guy close to children, or really anyone. Honestly a scary experience.

We had a great time leaning to surf the waves on Madeira! Ruben was friendly, accommodating and prompt with communication. We hope to visit again!

Good rental boards, lots of choice depending on your skill level. We got help with what spot to surf according to our level.

Overall our stay was okay, I will explain why. The garden and surroundings are gorgeous! Andreia and partner were extremely helpful, friendly and quick with communication, mostly done through WhatsApp. We booked two Pilates sessions as a customised package during our stay unfortunately their son was ill so did not get to do this but they were great at given us other options of hiring a surf board instead, this was great, thank you! Other things to note, the shared kitchen is great and has everything you need. The bed was quite uncomfortable and did not get a great nights sleep. *Please remember to mention if you are allergic to certain bedding types, I forgot and found myself coughing due to being allergic to feathers in duvets fortunately there was a blanket in the cupboard to use instead. The breakfast was great and easily accessible in the morning with a lovely variety. Unfortunately, there was building work going on which we were not told about which wasn’t great, a pre warning would have been nice, there was quite loud banging and building work starting fairly early in the morning. I think the biggest upset on the trip was the surfing experience, the locals were really rude to the visitors and those that were not Portuguese and from the island. It’s a real shame as the Madeira surf hostel has a lovely little shop on the beach front with some great boards, the non locals were all polite and fully respecting the surf line up, there was no need for the poor etiquette by the local surfers! it’s safe to say we will not be returning here to surf. I would still recommend booking this accommodation and trying it out for yourself despite the cons but for us personally we would not visit again unfortunately. Thanks.

Ruben was a fantastic surf instructor and took me to some amazing surf spots around the island. Super friendly and chilled, highly recommended - and stay in his guest house too in Sao Vicente - it’s beautiful!

Stayed on the beautiful island of Madeira for a week and rented board and wetsuit from Ruben. Very friendly and helpful guy. Great selection of boards. He made our surf trip a memorable one. Highly recommended.

We have rent a surf. It was easy to surf one hour with my son between two visits. The welcome was good and the wave too.

We rent wetsuits and surfboards. It was easy to contact Ruben and the communication was fast and uncomplicated. He’s a cool and friendly expert, who always give some tips to surfing techniques and the Spot. Im happy to visit Ruben again :)
