- Navigate6440310 contributionsA day BelmonteRoza did a great job directing the trip. Roza knows so much about the Belmonte’s history and about crypto-Jewish history if the area. It was a two and a half hour trip back and forth from Porto and it was the wonderful.Written 24 May 2024
- Jeff F0 contributionsFantastic Belmonte tour with RozaRoza led and arranged a fantastic tour. We visited Belmonte, a city with crypto Jews hidden since the inquisition in the 1500s. In addition to skillfully driving us the 2 1/2 hours from Porto, she introduced us to a descendant, we toured the Jewish museum, the synagogue and the castle, and then returned us to Porto with a couple more surprise sites. All in all, a wonderful day.Written 5 May 2023

Picked up from our hotel and taken by car to sites ancient and modern, no aspect of Porto's Jewish past or present was missed out. Roza is knowledgable and a pleasure to tour Jewish Porto with. Even some 'locked doors' were opened with her magic touch.

Roza is a great guide. Unfortunately because of the war with hamas, she was not allowed to take us to the synagogue or museum. Instead, she brought the shamas from the synagogue to our hotel to talk about current events in porto. We improvised, she and he met us and talked over coffee for over an hour before going out. She came with notes, pictures, a calendar from the synagogue, and an extensive history. She also took is to the lello bookstore (not to be missed!), and was very helpful. The 3 hours flew past very quickly, and she offered to do more if we had the time! I cannot recommend her highly enough!

We have just done this tour with Roza Jedrzeijko and it was excellent. Roza is friendly, very knowledgeable and interesting. She went at our pace, didn’t rush anything and we had a lovely afternoon tour. Highly recommend

Highly recommend this 4-hour tour. Our guide - Ms. Roza Jedrzejko - was very knowledgeable about the complex history and culture of the Jewish population of Porto that dates back to the 1100s. While we toured the former Jewish quarters, Roza “pointed out” places of interest; many that no longer exist ("the hidden synagogue".) The highlight was a visit to the very active Mekor Haim, Porto’s Synagogue, the largest in the Iberian peninsula. When booking, be sure to check whether synagogue will be open on tour day.

Is this a private tour? I'm with someone older and wondering about the pace. Thanks
