We thoroughly enjoyed the cooking class with Catia. She met us at the appointed time and took us for a stroll through the local market. We bought several items for the meal and retreated to her beautifully decorated flat solely designed to host her classes. The food preparation was mixed with stories about her background, culture and the Portuguese way. Her English was excellent and all in all we had a wonderful time. Would highly recommend!!

We had a lovely lunch with Cáita. She guided us through the market of Porto and provided us with a lot of information about Portuguese food. After that she invited us in to her home and helped us cook an amazing meal. She even revealed the secret of making the famous pastel de nata! Cáita was a lovely host and has teached us a lot about Portuguese history and culture. It was a highlight of our stay in Portugal and we would definitely recommend it! 👌

My family and I had a wonderful time cooking with Catia! We really enjoyed the market tour where we walked among the stalls and learned about Portuguese food. We actually liked the market so much we ended up visiting again the next day. Catia's kitchen is lovely, the cooking was fun, not too difficult, and we genuinely enjoyed sitting down to eat the meal we had just prepared. It was delicious! We look forward to replicating the recipes at home. Catia herself is very kind and knowledgeable and an excellent cook. We would recommend this class to anyone looking to learn more about Portugese cuisine, enjoy a traditional meal, and have a lovely chat with a local. Definitely a great addition to your trip to Porto!

I arrived at the meeting point (temporary Bolhao market) 15 minutes in advance as suggested in the activity voucher, and looked for the guide with a “blue umbrella”. I searched high and low to no avail. On the verge of the meeting time, time I called the contact phone and was told the guide was already in the meeting point. After further search eventually, I found she was just a few steps away from me. She apologized because forgot to bring the blue umbrella.
When all the tour attendants arrived, we went into the supermarket and soon the shop owners called us the attention to move away from the shopping counters as our group was interfering with their customers and regular business. After, we walked to an AirB&B flat with a nicely decorated kitchen very much resembling those in cooking series in TV, our guide told she decorated it herself, as she was a professional kitchen decorator. Then we cooked with her some food she bought in the supermarket and some other ingredients that were already in the flat ready to be used. The resultant dishes were not those I call with “flying colors” at least for my taste. All in all a ridiculously expensive tourist activity. Not recommended.

Hello, considering this is exactly from the same participants that previously reviewed our activity, our answer cannot be much different: you cannot blame the activity for your misbehavior that lead to an argument with other participants! You were one of the most arrogant and pushy participants i ever had at the experience (not with me but with the other participants) at the point they needed to ask you not to talk anymore with them the rest of the tour. Once again i never had a tour besides yours that our guests left angry with each other, and it wasn't the other participants fault. You felt you were there to have a restaurant service while you booked a local visit to a market and a home made cooking class. You booked an English tour and many times i needed to be talking with you in Spanish otherwise you wouldn't understand. You say it's a tourist trap, and fortunately all the reviews besides yours tell a totally different story. It's a shame that we cannot rate guests like you, that are unable to have a sit in a local experience and to talk with people from other nationalities without being judgmental and offensive, and then try to discharge the frustrations into the host and activity. We're open to hear all kinds of feedback, even we ask it many times at the end of the tour, but we cannot accept behaviors like yours to be reflected negatively in our ratings without an answer.

During our stay in Porto we decided to take part in the cooking workshop by Cátia.
We met at the temporary local market where Cátia showed us different markt stands with their local products. She explained different historic backgrounds of their origin and discovery through time.
After a short walk to the central apartment with a nicely equipped and modern kitchen, Cátia explained the different recipes step by step.
Cátia was a very nice and friendly host!
All in all it was a very nice culinary experience through the history and culture of Porto while getting in touch with locals and exchanging about life next to wine and good food.
We would highly recommend to go when visiting Porto!

We had an amazing experience with Catia. We met her at the market where she took us around to pick up foods to cook later. Her knowledge of the history of the foods was great, and it greatly enhanced our understanding of what we were going to make. She then took us to her beautiful home where we cooked a delicious Portuguese meal. It was only my husband and myself, and it felt more like a meal with a dear friend than a tour. We would absolutely recommend this tour with all our hearts. It was one of the highlights of our time in Porto. Thank you Catia, for making us feel so welcome and for the wonderful meal.

This great experience started on the local market with an introduction of the ingredients and spices. Cátia really delivered a well prepared story about the Porto foodculture. After we purchased some ingredients we started our cooking workshop at the lovely house of Cátia. In a nice kitchen we cooked a starter, main course and dessert. It was delicious!

This cooking workshop is very much recommended. Thanks for the great experience Cátia.

My husband and I were looking for different ways to learn about local culture and food and were absolutely delighted with this experience. We arrived at the market early and were enjoying a glass of wine when Catia messaged you let us know she too was early. She located us and we began our tour learning about the different traditional foods. We walked the short distance to the flat where we prepared a delicious meal. Catia was very engaging and answered all of our questions. We left with full stomachs and leftover egg tarts to take back to our flat. Catia also gave us suggestions of where to go for freshly grilled octopus and other fresh seafood. We highly recommend this experience. Thank you Catia!

An amazing experience! Catia was a lovely, welcoming host and we learnt so much. The tour of the market was fascinating and the food we cooked and ate was delicious. Everything was very Covid-safe too. If you are visiting Porto then this is an absolute must!

Before trowing away 55 euros in a useless visit to a modern supermarket
and a demonstration on how to produce a would be "portuguese" meal for lazy erasmus young students, composed mainly of sugar, cod leftovers, industrial saussages, everything drowned in butter, and 4 hours of rather plumb and preposterous conversation in broken english, I would suggest to look for a decent restaurant and have a real portuguese culinary experience carried out by professional staff.

Hello, First off all you shouldn't blame the tour for your miss-behaving that lead to an argument with other guests. -We're not a Restaurant, we're a local couple, guides that provide for example visit to the local market in Porto, telling all about products from Portugal and former colonies, interacting with local merchants. Then we prepare a home made meal that nothing has to do with the description you made above, but you decided not only to lie but also to emphasize the lies. - the "Lazy Erasmus students" that you mentioned were a group of very nice South Korean around their 40's that you pushed until their limit with political issues and being so rude with themes like North Korea relations, until the point they needed to ask you to stop talking with them during the experience! I needed at the end by message to apologize for your behavior. - It's funny to see you talking about broken English while from the group your English was the worst. I even needed to translate many things and talk to you in Spanish besides you booked an English tour. - I never had a group that left without talking to each other like with you, completely the opposite, our guests leave as friends continuing their visit to Porto sometimes together. You're the only review that isn't a 5 star classification! If you're unable to get along with other participants from other nationalities and to be respectful not only with them, but also for the host that made a big effort to keep the good mood of the group and provide a good experience, we would recommend for this moment on for you to book only private tours. We could give you a politically correct answer to look nice on Tripadisor, but we stopped working for big companies to have small groups to feel, and make our guests feel that we're a group of friends enjoying history, food, wine and life itself. To stop giving politically correct answers to experiences like yours. And if your review and this answer will make us to avoid guests with the same attitude you had, we praise them.
