About
It is, of course, possible to explore the ruins of the Acropolis independently. But without an understanding of ancient Greek religion, culture, and history, it can be tough to tell exactly what you’re looking at—let alone what it all means. This guided walking tour takes the confusion out of the Acropolis and leaves you free to continue exploring once you’re done.

Highlights
  • See the Theatre of Dionysus, Parthenon, and the Temple of Athena Nike (entrance at your expense)
  • Learn about ancient Greek history, mythology, drama, and lifestyles
  • Soak up sweeping views from the summit as you discover surrounding sights
What to expect
  • Greet your guide in Central Athens and then stroll to the Acropolis, pay your entrance fee, and head inside. Enter through the south side, stopping at the Theatre of Dionysus and the Sanctuary of Dionysus. Inside the ancient citadel, ascend the sacred hill. Your guide will explain the names and meaning of sights like the Parthenon, with its missing marbles; the Temple of Athena Nike; the Erechtheion; and the Propylaea gateway.  At the summit, savor sweeping views of the modern city as your guide points out surrounding monuments, including Areopagus hill and the ancient agora, a meeting place that was once the beating heart of ancient Athens. The tour concludes here, leaving you free to explore at your leisure or make your own way back to your hotel.

The tour was led by Katerina. A lovely lady with a good sense of humour and clearly very knowledgeable. Katerina was able to answer all the questions we had.

This walking tour was wonderful. We had a tour guide called Annie who was amazing and knew everything about the history of Athens and also gave us great recommendations of day trips and islands to visit. The tour was a great amount of time and we got an amazing tour of Athens as well as the Acropolis.

Annie was very informative and knowledgable about Athens and was able to answer everybody's questions especially about the Ancient history.

This tour was very well organised and smooth. I would recommend this tour.

My partner and I took part on the afternoon “Skip the Line Acropolis Of Athens Tour” with Andrea. We had a great experience and learned so much about the rich history of Athens and the different landmarks in the Acropolis. Andrea was very knowledgeable, passionate and recalled fantastic information about the past. She went above and beyond answering our group's questions and telling us about the significant sites on the skyline nearby. Highly recommend this tour and Andrea as your tour guide!

Great tour done by Koko! Knowledgable and told the history well. The tour was well organised with a very convenient meeting place. Also had earphones so we could hear the guide without having to crowd round. I really like this and it made it much clearer than other tours ive been on!

The tour was very enlightening and interesting. Sissy helped us to relate to the way of life that the Greeks had and somehow it was also inspiring. Good knowledge, a lot of fun and very well organized.

The Acropolis tour with our guide Sissy was excellent. We have picked up so much interesting things about the Pantheon and the history of place. We also enjoyed the walk into the old-town with culinary specialties to taste. We can truly recommend this tour and our knowledgable guide.

We did an early (0830) walking tour of the Acropolis. It was well organised and the right length (1 and a half hours) and our tour guide, Dorina utterly brilliant. I’m not really a great fan of guided tours but Dorina brought the experience to life in an amazing way and, like the Acropolis totally captivating. When in Athens you have to see the Acropolis of course, and the Athens Walking Tour experience with Dorina made it pure magic.

We had an amazing tour to the Acropolis, guided by Sissy, an archaeologist who explained the history of the site through mythology and Greek religion in such an unusual way that she has left us wanting for more. It was a wonderful experience and I highly recommend this tour with Sissy.
