About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- bomaolciarain0 contributionsDisappointing visitWent on a wet day. Staff were completely indifferent. Staff only appeared to wait for stops allowing them to leap out and smoke. The audio was very brief and did not give much information but lots of very long pauses. Poor value .Written 22 December 2024
- expeditionsandevents0 contributionsDon't do it!!!The worst hop-on-hop-off bus ever. Every headphone jack was broken. Absolutely nothing worth seeing, spent over an hour driving around looking at dilapidated buildings and periodically getting whacked in the face by tree branches. Complete waste of 60 Euro (family ticket).Written 20 October 2024
- griffiths9940 contributionsToo much trafficWe paid for the city tour only. Traffic horrific quicker to walk to points of interest waste of 23 euros each. Headphones and map available on bus. Driver shouts out stops. Used it once then walked where we wanted to go. Never booked a city tour before and won't be doing it again.Written 20 October 2024
- F3919IWjayneb0 contributionsVery poor!I have done Hop on hop off bus tours around many many cities in the world. This is by far the worst! For €22 you get a very basic map with so little detail on it, you struggle to know where you are. There are few buildings pointed out, compared to those mentioned in a guide book. There is very little information about the places that ARE mentioned. A lot of the time there is just music played through the earpiece. Firstly, Greek music, then classical including Land of Hope and Glory!!! What a waste of money..and my time!Written 19 October 2024
- Trek615859358450 contributionsTerribleStaff really rude at bus stop and unhelpful, we had to stay parked at the port while Driver took his break and he then refued to open plastic window covering which were filthy and you couldnt see through, would not recommendWritten 9 October 2024
- EdieCara10 contributionsHorrible experienceIt was AWFUL to say the least. We got off the ship and as soon as we reached the port authority we were stopped by the agents for the hop on hop off. It was raining and I thought that it would be the easiest way to reach the old town. LIE!!! We had to make a big tour before reaching the old town. On top of that we got stuck in traffic. Every stop we had, there was a big line up trying to get onto the bus and one lady was complaining that she had to wait nearly an hour to get a spot on a bus to get back. We were scared to not have a spot to be back to the ship on time so we stayed on the bus. By the time we reached the Old town, we already had spent an hour and 15 mins on the bus. We wasted so much time in traffic and we didn't see anything. They don't use all of their buses. They had 3 busses parked at the port and they only used one of them to transfer all of those tourists. Don't waste your money. Rain or shine, WALK!!!Written 9 October 2024
- Voyager552962105850 contributionsDon't waste your money !As mentioned by other reviews ,don't waste 22 euros on this bus ride ,it would be far cheaper and quicker using a taxi or local busWritten 5 October 2024
- O1076MYbenb0 contributionsDeceptive and misleading. AvoidDECEPTIVE and MISLEADING. AVOID. (1) The tour did not stop at the 7 sites/stops advertised online or as per the maps shown online or handed out in paper. We only had only ONE stop. They want us to pay more for other stops at other places. You may us well book a normal bus. (2) While no bookings can be made online (ie no fixed times), buses are often pre booked by cruises so when we arrived early (before anyone else) we were told to wait for an hour+ for available buses (3) Buses do not run periodically as we had been informed (every 15/30 min) and we were only given 30 min at the one stop before being returned to the city (4) Staff are rude and unhelpful. They will not help address any of the above and consider all of the above someone else’s problem. - Ruthyo0 contributionsSteer clear!!!!Do not book with this company! Appalling customer service; I had limited time on Corfu (Kanoni) so purchased a ticket on my phone, went along to the nearest stop which was manned by an assistant who told me I hadn’t purchased a ticket but a voucher which I had to take to the port to exchange for a ticket! What a ridiculous system! I just didn’t have time to do this as it was already mid afternoon. I have since tried getting a refund but twice I have been refused! Consequently I have lost nearly £19. Be warned!! I wanted to give a zero rating but it’s not possible.Written 22 September 2024
- RosemaryNorwich20170 contributionsDont botherI dont think the buses are every 15 mins, more like 20-25 mins. Not worth stopping at old port or Spila Square. Bus stops don't all have shade cover. Time between stops so minimal, no point putting headphones on. Maybe pay for a private taxi to give you a spin around the same route. Would be cheaper.Written 31 August 2024
- Domenico g0 contributionsOverpriced and unacceptable serviceExtremely hot on board, air condition not working or not enough powerful. No chance to move on more ventilated part of the bus without autist yelling. No chance to open windows while moving because “A/C was On” but probably only in the mind of the autist because passengers were feeling sick for the heat. Finally an operator declared AC was not working. Overpriced and unacceptable service.Written 8 August 2024
- G8561FUstephp0 contributionsGreat tour but even better customer serviceThe bus trip was great, lots of stops, great audio guide and the bus had a cover to protect us from the 38 degree heat which a lot of other companies didn’t have. But, this all pales in comparison to the amazing customer service we received from Evi And Euphrosyne - not only did they happily send us our voucher when the email confirmation was delayed in some internet server, but after my daughter left her sunglasses and water bottle on the coach, they asked the depot to look for them, found them, got them delivered to their office in the city centre for us, kept them for 3 days until we were back in Athens and had topped my daughter’s water bottle up with fresh water and kept it in the fridge for us. They were so kind, helpful and deserve a shout out (or a bonus if their managers are reading this!)Written 25 July 2024
- evdokiaz20240 contributionsA Must Do!!!Great way to see the city! The representatives are very polite and the drivers are very careful and smooth in driving. I highly recommended!Written 14 July 2024

We selected the City Sightseeing Tour of Athens which costed 20 Euro each. The advantage of a hop on hop off bus is that you can get off at a stop and get back on another bus that is along the route. We chose the Athens line which has 14 stops. Typically, the buses are very crowded and seating can be hit or miss. In busy season, there is a lot of traffic and wait times can be long. Regarding our digital service, channel 2 provided narration in English and was useful. We chose to ride the full route when we got on in the morning and got off at the Acropolis. Later in the day, we rode the bus back to the local square. The bus seemed to go around many circles and is a time waster if you have limited time in Athens.

We arrived in Athens on September 9 and since we had a book that day, because we had already booked the activities for the rest of our trip, we decided to use this bus to explore the city quickly and comfortably.
It is highly recommended to go to the top to have a better view. But on very sunny or rainy days they put up an awning to protect you.
They give you headphones so you can listen to the description in your language, you have the option to go up and down as many times as you want for the contracted time.
It is a good option to give you an idea of what there is, the distances in the city and to observe a little the movement of the city to visit.
Whenever there is a hop-on hop-off bus in the city I visited, I try to use it.

I don't recommend the Award. Air conditioning does not work super it is very hot in the bus. No information on the beer offered, difficult to have information too crowded, schedule not flexible enough, say finish at 8:30 pm but last bus at 6:30 pm so not possible to get to the point despite having arrived at 6:30 pm and that a tour lasts 90 min. Information about very basic headphones. We made all three roads the one to the Beach is fine but by public transport would be better unless you don't know where to go. Too expensive for the service received especially as they make stops in double a5 and at the coach they make a circle and we retrace our steps and stop again....

We had a terrible experience with the city sight seeing tour bus in Anthens. We purchased and planned the trip around using a 48-hour ticket to see the city and enjoy our time; however, there was an issue with the tour operator. It turns out that the day we were supposed to start our tour, the operator was not running the buses! Not only that, but there was nothing on the webs about the cancellation for that day when we bought our tickets. We were not even notified via e mail. We kindly asked for a refund since we were leaving Athens the next day and would not be using the tickets at all, we also mentioned the lack of communication around the cancellation. Their response was simply “it was on the website and we are not refunding the cost of the tickets”. This was unacceptable, there was little to no care on the messaging from this company. I would not recommend to work with anyone who wouldn’t at least provide a solution to a customer or work with them to find that resolution. We have started a claim with credit card provider.

This service is offered also in many other cities, in Europe. It is the best way to see pretty much everything that is worth seeing. Everything…
Okay fine, there are, in certain cities, some non-touristic areas, some «hidden» (but legal! lol…) places, which are also worth visiting.
But when you are visiting a city for the first time, and you will stay there for a few days only, you want to start by seeing all the famous places of said city, right ? So, go ahead and use this service.
The price is quite reasonable (in this instance, probably because there is another company, offering similar services in the city…). And you can choose the duration of the validity of your ticket - the price varies accordingly of course - .
You get into any bus of this system, at any of the numerous stops on the itinerary. You can leave it whenever you want, at any of its stops, and stay there as much as you like. Then, you embark in a next bus, at any of the stops, and just continue to enjoy your promenade, at your leisure.
If, while you are doing this, you find a place where you want to spend more time, or that you want to visit again, outside the operational hours of this service or after your ticket has expired, you just go back there, at any hour and for as long as you want, by other means (btw, Uber-taxis are very practical, reliable and affordable, in Greece).
In Athens - and it's not like that, in all the other European cities - this service offers 3 itineraries. Each, in a different direction and with a different "theme" (city center, the Riviera, the ports). Depending on the ticket that you purchase, you can enjoy any one of these itineraries, or better yet, all of them. Within the various - extensive - periods of time which are proposed to you.
If you are staying in the city for 3 days or more, just go with the full option: all 3 itineraries, over 72 hours. It's a no brainer…
The buses are clean and well maintained, the staff is professional, polite and amicable. While you are enjoying the sights, you can listen to a basic, interesting presentation of all the important places that you are seeing; in your earphones - thank to the recorded voice of a guide, in many languages, well synchronized with the itinerary - .
Without this service, in the 4 days that we stayed in Athens, we would have seen only a fraction of this wonderful city.

There were three options. We went on a blue bus. It broke down and after a wait we transferred to another bus which stopped and unloaded us all at the Acropolis instead of carrying on round.
We went on the bus when we arrived. Tickets last for 2 days so we were able to orientate ourselves on the first day and then do the hop on hop off bit the second day visiting the changing of the guard (every hour on the hour) - a great choreographed spectacle; the Plaka - the old town (we ate there but would recommend Omonia Square - the Omonia Grill. Also visited the Acropolis of course.
The Gray (coloured yellow) buses didn't seem anywhere as frequent.
The red buses seemed very frequent and popular. Another time we'd go red!

Although the views seen through this tour are worth it for a one time journey, I would not recommend buying more than a day’s pass. The bus halted at every stop for longer than 5-10 minutes, and so while the next destination was a 2 minute bus journey, it took more than 15 minutes to get there. The wait time for the connecting Piraeus and Beaches lines is an hour long, and there is no live timing tracker.

We decided to try the hop on hop off bus in Athens mainly because we wanted to see some additional sites and it we thought it would be cheaper to do this than to take an Uber or taxi. This bus was less than desirable. We have done hop - on- hop - off in Paris and other countries but this was a different experience. First, it was frustrating. You would listen to the recording via head phones they gave you, but often the recording was talking about a site that was well ahead of where the bus was, so you had no clue what you were looking at. Second, the driver, in English would tell you the stop #, but because his mic was so poor, he often came out muffled and you had no idea where you were. They also stopped at locations and waited to up to 10 mins, in the heat, to either catch up on time or wait for tourist. We decided to sit below because it was quite hot when we went and we wanted some AC. Third, AC. Because the bus is open to the top, you really didn't have any AC. They also stopped frequently to let off or pick up tourists, so the doors were always open. Finally, the stickers on the bus. They were so prevalent that you couldn't see outside the window if you were down below. It generally took forever too to get to sites and then to wait for another bus to arrive. It was quite expensive and not worth the time or money. Next time we would take an Uber and to make sure the places we were going too, would be close to each other so as to not pay a lot of extra money for the ride.

The sales pitch will tell you what you want to hear and not the reality. Cramped seating, timetables not adhered to and the promise of a 48hr ticket is not true. They stop running quite early and when we wanted to get back to port the agent at the stop we wanted to get on at told us we had just missed a bus and the next was one hour away, not the 15mins regularity as promised at the sale in port!
We were mocked by the staff at the stop when we questioned the time and were told to look at the timetable which again did not resemble the sales pitch. Luckily we asked the yellow bus agent that was there if they would take us to the port and they did for €10 for us both, got to port in no time. Would not recommend this tour company, there are 2 others to choose from at the ship, choose wisely and don't be duped by the smiles and sales pitch.

If I could rate zero stars I would. By far the worst experience we have ever had. The website and ticket states the bus runs starting at 0830. A bus didn’t show up until after 0900 and we were told that he was just scanning tickets, another bus would take us. We waiting for 3 more buses before we were allowed to board. We did not depart the terminal until 10am. Unorganized, we sat for an hour in the 92 degree heat no shade, no empathy or flexibility. Choose another company to spend your money on.

Written 24 June 2022
Yes - one ticket on a specific route means you get to go round that route for 24 hours as many times as you want and also jump on and off when you want. I always use such a bus on holidays on the first day to give me some orientation and allow me
To work out what I want to see over the days.
