About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- marisN5057ZZ0 contributionsBeautiful sites, bad timingThe sites themselves were very very impressive and I was so happy to get to see them. We found the tour bus easily and everything went smoothly. However, the timings didn't work well. The guide made us stand at the entrance to Mycenae for almost half an hour while she explained a lot about the history, and afterwards it didn't leave us with enough time to actually visit all of the site, even though we went as quickly as we could. Lunch was in the basement of a hotel near Nauplia, which was a bit sad, and we only had fifteen minutes to see any of the actual town. The same thing happened in Epidaurus with the guide speaking for far far too long, and preventing us from enjoying the experience of seeing these beautiful places by holding us up in the museum. It could definitely be better timed, as the explanations (although interesting) should not take precedence over the sites themselves.Written 6 December 2024
- Pappachan10 contributionsThe tour was well thought out but the tour guide should have been vetted for communicationFirst of all let me tell whoever is reading this review, that the tour itinerary is really good, so as the hotel and driver. But what really lack was the tour guide Jenny. She might be good to be a tour guide if the tour is in Greek. But we are bunch of people who wanted to learn about Greece as q one in a lifetime experience who don't speak greek. We should have a tour guide who could speak bare minimum English. So the tour organizers should have vetted the guide for people who are spending more than $1000 for this 4 day tour. The tour operator disappointed us and made this worthless. I didn't learn any thing from this tour than just see some ruins. Sorry to say, it's not even the fault of the guide. It's the operator of this tour made this a flop for all the people. I got the same feedback from others who were with us. Really disappointing, but you provide us such good hotel to stay and awesome driver, why you guys do your due diligence to hire a English speaking guide and disappoint all of us. I was following other guides there to listen what all the things were about. I don't want you to defend your action against this review. Please work it out for others travellers to have a better experience.Written 6 December 2024
- Catherine B0 contributionsGet out of town!A wonderful day trip to a unique and important site in the history of Greece. It is refreshing to get out of the city and see some other parts of the country. The bus was clean and comfortable, the driver and guide were both excellent. The walking tour was fast and the day was long due to a rockslides on the main route to Delphi, but the incredibly scenic alternate route via the Bay of Corinth made up for the long day. The meal was very generously portioned - arrive hungry! If you’re on an off-season trip, be aware that “on-your-own” options are extremely limited.Written 26 November 2024
- Richard U0 contributionsGreat guide for fantastic locations. The Guide Dimitria was fantastic and knowledgable. The stops were amazing with plenty of time. Lunch was nice and we sat with other participants and got to know them.Written 22 November 2024
- G6788OTtimothyb0 contributionsGreat trip to a remarkable site, with a superb guide! We had a great trip to Delphi with Chat Tours. The pick-up, coach trip, lunch, stops and return journey all went like clockwork, and our guide Vicki was amazing! She was very engaging and well informed, and excellent at explaining the importance of the Delphi and interpreting the astonishing remains at Delphi and the remarkable artifacts in the museum. We also learned a great deal about ancient and modern Greece, and even a bit on Greek cuisine and the Greek language! Highly recommended.Written 21 November 2024
- Odyssey153599364650 contributionsScenic and enlighteningGreat experience ! The guide, Nancy was warm and knowledgeable. The trip from Athens was very pleasant. Just the area in and around Delphi is spectacular notwithstanding the historical significance of the site! The museum is unmissable as well !!!Written 7 November 2024
- ramt3910 contributionsGratitude!Hello to our guide Jordan and the expert driver Babbys (sorry if mispelt). These two are wonderful together and very friendly. They were also our guide to Sounio. Jordan is passionate at what he does and humble. He admits he doesn't know all the answers to all our questions. Keep it up:)Written 28 October 2024
- CecilF20130 contributionsMagnificent DelphiGreat trip.Mr Jordan is an extremely knowledgeable guide . I got a lot of knowledge on the way and at the site and museum . The bus driver Mr Babas is very experienced making for a comfortable ride. The scenery is magnificent. The place unique , steeped in history. Lunch was excellent. Definitely a great trip.Written 27 October 2024
- elianapZ3481MX0 contributionsNot the most informativeThe tour guide took us to all of the spots, but honestly the actual information he gave was kind of lackluster. He explanations of the sites were very disorganized, and he didn't give as much detail as I would have expected from a $100 tour. Also, the tour guide could be very rude and said some unkind things about members of our group. If you just want to go to the sites and take a look, this tour isn't bad, but I wouldn't expect much more than that.Written 26 October 2024
- AlanH2040 contributionsMust-do trip if you come to AthensGreat day out seeing Mycenae and Epidaurus. Well organised visit to these World Heritage sites. The guide was great and the coach ride relaxing. Gave a 4 rating as we would have liked to stay longer at Mycenae and maybe have had lunch in the nice seaside town we dropped some guests at rather than the out of town hotel we went to.Written 26 October 2024
- GrandTour7661020 contributionsGreat day outExcellent day out with a knowledgeable and entertaining guide who really knew the subject matter. Thoroughly recommend it.Written 24 October 2024
- JenniferK5020 contributionsMore About Mythology than HistoryIt was good, but the tour guide concentrated almost all of her information on the Greek mythology and how it applied to the area. Only a couple of minutes were based on other Greek history and only one sentence on Paul in the area. When I asked her why she didn't speak of him on the tour, her reply was that many people are not religous and don't want to hear about him. She didn't talk about even the Greek Orthodox church next to the ruins that was having a ceremony. Only when another tourist asked why the bells were ringing did she acknowledge there as a church. By not talking about it, she lost a lot of the tourists' attention and respect and they started to tour on their own. I learned more from the placards around the sites than from her on the history of Corinth. It was disappointing.Written 23 October 2024
- AngelaA4420 contributionsGood Highlights of Athens including the Acropolis and MuseumWe enjoyed this tour and thought Dora did an excellent job wrangling 35+ mostly elderly tourists and us around the sights of Athens. She was invaluable when climbing the Acropolis and explained everything so well. Again at the museum she explained a lot and made it all come to life. We wouldn't have got half as much out of it if we had gone on our own. The next day we visited some of the highlights pointed out to us so it was handy to know where they were located after doing the tour.Written 22 October 2024
- Urbanlovers0 contributionsEnriching in every wayThis tour surpassed our expectations! All was well organized. Our guide Dimitra was knowledgeable, professional and kept us on track with the schedule. The bus driver was very capable. The hotels were in beautiful locations, clean and comfortable. Meals were exceptional and traditionally classic to the region. The ancient destinations we visited were remarkable. Great trip for history, mythology or just plain curious people. Highly recommend this tour.Written 22 October 2024
- lhlovell0 contributionsTake this trip!A must see. My husband and I enjoyed this trip so much seeing the historical sites. The ride to Delphi is over 2 hrs, followed by 2 hours of walking thru the archaeological site. Be aware this involved walking about 2000 steps up the side of a mountain, most of which was actual stairs. Then the same path down. We spent an hour in the museum having the displays explained. Lunch was ok. Not bad but not good. It was grilled chicken with vegetables which didn’t have much flavor. Met our caloric needs but this was not flavorful or offer much of the Greek culture. We did not have an opportunity to stop for any browsing or shopping on this trip. We would have enjoyed being given even a short time to do this. Overall, we really enjoyed this trip and Vicky was a great guide!Written 22 October 2024

We were extremely excited for this trip but unfortunately it was the worst experience we had as the tour guide lady, Illia, was one the most racist person we met in Greece. She was trying to guess from which country we were from and trying to humiliate by saying "Are you allowed to wear these clothes in your country (just a top and skirt). Ohh I thought you are wearing burkas in your country" (she was trying to mock).
She was absolutely the most ignorant person we met in Greece and it is even a shame for Greek people to have this lady as a representative of their country. It is even surprising that the ministry of tourism of Greece even allows this kind of people to be tour guides.
Additionally, Illia gave so little information, lucky we had a background on Greek architecture and history but the historical information part was a disaster.
We would never ever recommend this trip as long as the tour guide, Illia, guides this tour. It is very disappointing and unfortunate.

We had an amazing experience, especially during the tour of the Acropolis. Dora was very knowledgeable about the history of Greece in relation to the Acropolis, as well as all of the sites we passed along the way! There was some fuss about the static in the devices that allowed you to hear the guide from the back of the group, but that is expected with the number of people around in separate groups who had similar devices. (I suspect hearing aid interference as well.) All in all, Dora is the standard at which we will hold any future guide, and we thoroughly enjoyed our tour!!

The morning part of the tour was a great way to get a nice overview of Athens very quickly. Our guide was very knowledgeable and helped us understand what we were looking at so that we could visualize what was there hundreds of years ago. The afternoon bus ride out to Poseidon's Temple was filled with beautiful scenery followed by a concise explanation of the area and its significance.

Yes, you’ll see the Parthenon. And yes, there’s a scenic drive to the Temple of Poseidon. But this is a standard bus tour with grouchy tour guides and passengers bewildered by the confusing instructions and lack of organization. This is a combo of two separate tours with different vehicles and guides, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. The pickup locations are unclear and I could not get a response from the office prior to the tour.

In 3 weeks in Greece this had to be the worst experience we had. So sad we wasted our last day and almost $400 on this tour. The guide only cared about herding us like cattle and wanted to get the day over with. I feel like we could have done everything ourselves. I’m wanting a refund as the price is not any way indicative of the experience. STAY AWAY.

We chose hotel pick up so the meeting time is 7:30am but the driver arrived 7:45am then we went to hotel Amalia to pick up other tourists and wait till 8:30am. The first stop is in the city of Athens, the tour guide is good. She explained well the history but not that lively. Anyway we went to acropolis Parthenon and museum. We finished at 1pm and they drop everybody in their respective hotel and the second part of tour is at 2:30pm. We didn’t go in the second part. We just get tired and still adjusting on time zone.

So , there was not any delay on the departure.

My husband and I had never been to Greece and planned only 3 days of our trip to be there. BIG MISTAKE! Athens has so much to offer in itself, and that’s just in the city!! We had our tour with Marianna and it was so good! She gave us interesting and historical facts about all the things around us, gave us a walking tour of the Acropolis museum and site, and you could just tell she has a love for history and culture! Then after a short lunch break, we met back at the hotel and had the most beautiful drive down the coast to Cape Sounion. Unfortunately you don’t actually get to go into the water, I personally would have skipped the Sounion part and gone to the beach, but my husband was ADAMANT that that gorgeous drive was his favorite part of our entire European trip! I have nothing but good things to say about Athens, Chat tours and of course our lovely hostess Marianna! EVERYONE needs to

Did this package, and don't regret it, but felt the Athens half-day tour was a little disappointing. Not enough time at the stops (Panathanaic stadium and Acropolis and the New Acropolis Museum).
Definitely recommend the Sounio tour. Take it so you are there at sunset, if you can.

Also how long does one spend in Cape Sounion/Temple of Posedon before heading back to Athens?

I am arriving in athens on a royal caribbean cruise. I am interested in this sightseeing tour and would like to know the start time as well as end time of this tour. I would need to be back to the ship by 6pm
Written 14 November 2018
I would recommend contacting the tour company directly. Most of the tour companies have half-day tours. Keys tours does a half day Athens city, which can be combined with the Acropolis and Acropolis Archeological Museum. This starts at 0800 or so, and you finish at the museum whenever you want. The tour at the museum starts at 1200 or so. I found I wanted more time on the Acropolis, so had to come back later for more. Most people are satisfied with the amount of time on the Acropolis.
Written 21 November 2018
It depends on which tour you are doing. The ½ day Athens tour ends around 1300. The tour to Sounio gets you back to your hotel by 1800 or so. The day tour to Delphi gets you back to your hotel around 1900. The day cruise to the Sardonic islands (Hydra, Poros and Aegina) gets you back to your hotel by 1930. These times are what happened for us, the tours try to not rush you too much, so there is some variability.
