Perfect for trip to Athens City and Sea
Sep 2019 • Solo
I was there in September and I can recommend the yellow hop on/ hop off bus. Everything was fine and you can reach the city and sea easy. The Guide Giannis was always very friendly and eager. He also gave me some insider tips to make my stay in Athens more beautiful, thank you for that! The next time I travel to Athens I will definitively book the ticket again

Perfect for short trips and great service
I wanted to take originally the red bus cause I know this company from trips in other countries. They had no more service for the beach tour, were higher priced and finally booking a ticket directly on their website failed anyhow. I read some reviews on get your guide and booked the tour with the yellow bus, which went all smooth.
There was an issue with the data transfer of my ticket but the guide at my first stop was very helpful and fixed it.
Later when I reached the Acropolis, I wasn't sure if I had enough time to go up right away and make it for the beach tour connection, or visit afterwards. The guide there, Giannhs, gave me very good advise for my schedule that day, so I made to see everything I had planned. He even gave recommendations what is most worth to get off and see at the next day.

Overall, I'm glad red bus didn't work since it's a local company and everything was just perfect.

Stick to the 24 hour pass.
Dec 2019
Upside: The people who are running it are very attentive and informative. Dimitri(?) was the reason I purchased the ticket. He was great. It was nice to have access to various parts of Athens. The buses are timely and frequent enough.
Downside: Some of the buses were dirty. There was trash on the floor and dirty seats which made me cringe a little bit. Some of the buses had internet, some didn't. Some of the headphone jacks didn't work. I tried to purchase a ticket online but the terms of agreement said you had to print out your ticket. I didn't have a printer because I'm traveling so I had to buy on the bus. I lost a little money on it.
The 24 hour route is enough.

Skip the yellow bus
Our cruise company suggested this particular tour and with the very special rate, we took it. Unfortunately, it is very unorganized and we spent too much time waiting at the acropolis. Waiting for the bus, got on the bus, waiting to leave, waiting, waiting, waiting. We saw many other hoho busses come and go while we just... waited.

The shining part was our Athens driver, Stratos, who is kind, considerate and professional. He was pleasant to chat with and drove exceptionally well. He treated everyone like a friend, very different from the people off the bus, who seemed to have rolled out of bed and counting the hours till they could go home again.

Can be easily skipped
Nov 2019
While travelling through Europe, we usually take hop on hop off bus to get to know the city. This one in Athens happens to be the one which could easily be skipped. 2 reasons:
-not enough information provided during the route, most of the time you just hear Greek music in your earphones, which is nice, but not that much, and while it can be easily substituted by some greek mythology or legends, the country has plenty of them.
-most of the route is not picturesque at all. You will pass the highlights like Syntagma square, Acropolis, National library and a few others but for the rest is just passing the Athens streets, which are not nice to see, wasting time on traffic lights and traffic jams.
We tried all of suggested routes, Athens Riviera is not interesting at all, you almost dont see the sea shore, as there are trees and tram rails inbetween the road and the coastline, so dont waste your time.
Pireus line is better.
To be fair, I d like to say that the Athens line is also the cheapest one (12 euro pp for 2 days) and the drivers are all very friendly.
To conclude, i would suggest just to take a 9 euro public transport ticket for 5 days and visit all the sites by yourself, combining with online/youtube audio guides which are now plenty available and much more informative.

A very poor experience.
Nov 2019
What was to be an informative tour of local highlights ended up a two and a half hour torture tour, looking at old shops in very heavy traffic with little or no commentary. A shambles. An occasional significant building which we would slowly drive past. No organisation, just push and shove your way around. It was so slow we decided we could not get off as it may mean we not get back to our ship in time. Promised timetable seemed non existent. Should have just gone to the Acropolis and spent more time in that area than waste time sitting on a bus. No way would we undertake this tour again. Young female staff member tried hard to organise things but unco-operative passengers did not help her. Male staff member at the Acropolis was not interested in passengers, only his mobile phone. We were an inconvenience to him.

Great experience and excellent attention
Oct 2019
My granny and I took the yellow bus. The whole day we were around Athens and we had a wonderful experience with the bus service. Especially the drivers, they took the time for my granny to find a seat, she is 84 so she goes real slow especially on the stairs. And they also helped us out to change bus for us to go to the Benaki Museum. It made the experience really friendly.

Tour 2 Athens 2019
It was part of my tour to Hungary, Bulgaria and last Greece. Athens is one of the oldest cities in the world. It looks tired due to the Economic hardship facing the country. However, the past may cover the new in the sense that so many historic places worth seeing .
The transport between the new Airport and Center of Athens is easy with a train travelling every 30 min with few connections . Most of the names of the stations are in Greek and English. Most of young generation speak English and they are nice and helpful.
In my travel , I always start with pop in pop out double deck abuse to see and learn as well as know the directions. There are few companies operating in the capital. All are professional and almost going the same routes at reasonable charge in Euros. There are 3 lines in all of them one for the capital Athens , the other is to the port and the last to the beach. Each would take about 1:30 min to complete . I advise to take all the lines and take 48 hrs tickets and take the Red buses with better frequency and availability of buses.
You may stop in some of the stations to take some pics. The Parlimant and changing the guards @ around 11 am , the Museums , the Theatre and Old Greek city/temple and others. Acropolis ruins require some walking uphill along few paths from one of the stations and worth reaching for few pics.
Food in Athens is good, delecious and not expensive. Salads are their speciality . Weather is quite nice but unfortunately faced one rainy day.
In overall, it was a nice and enjoyable 3 days tour in Greece.
Best regards,
