About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- jamesdR6177FA0 contributionsAthenian culture from an expert tailored to your interestsIoannis is passionate about his Athenian knowledge and carefully listens to your own interests. He explains that he is a court lawyer and actor by profession. He communicates politely and professionally to understand our wishes for the tour. We talked about what we had experienced already and skilfully Ioannis worked out that we were interested in art and modern politics. We are Scottish and he had interesting insights when comparing our legal systems for instance. Our conversation varied widely using the starting point of the Athenian archeology we walked past. We progressed to modern Greek art by visiting hidden spaces an art cooperative we would never have found. Next we were debating graffiti as art as we walked up the Plaka houses beneath the Acropolis walls with a fascinating story about their origins. He found hidden fresco details which again we would never found without Ioannis. We walked back down through the maze of small streets and markets. Again he skilfully guided us with our interests in mind. At each step of the way he was knowledgable and had an infectious enthusiasm for his local culture. We were returned to near our hotel in a master stroke at a bar called Noel. He understood our enthusiasm for whacky art! What a wonderful man and experience. A real privilege to meet Ioannis. His English is impeccable.Written 6 February 2025
- ckk_100 contributionsA perfect December outing/We spent Christmas in Athens and wanted one day outside the city. We chose the trip to Cape Sounion and Nikos because of his interest in history and archaeology. Because of the time of the year, we were not interested in a beach stop but wanted a coastal drive and lunch in a local restaurant. We also asked him to suggest anything else of interest in the area. He collected us from our hotel at 9.30 a.m. The drive to Cape Sounion was stunningly beautiful. On the way, he provided interesting information about ancient and modern Athens. He was very easy to talk to, and we enjoyed the conversation. At Sounion ,we had all the time we wanted to explore the temple precinct, soak up the atmosphere and marvel at the play of sea, distant mountains and light. Afterwards , he took us to the ancient silver mines in Lavrio. This area was new to us. Nikos gave us detailed explanations of the history of the area, the ancient mining processes and also showed us the stone theatre. Afterwards, we went to a small taverna for an excellent local. lunch . We arrived back at the hotel shortly before five. Nikos was an exceedingly pleasant and knowledgeable companion. He was thoughtful and understanding of my reduced mobility and completely fulfilled all our expectations for the day.Written 30 December 2024

Thank you so much John for the great afternoon with wonderfull places and views and so many interresting discussions and informations! - cecilgmabey0 contributionsDefinitely book this!Definitely worth doing. He showed us lots of things to do or where we could go that we otherwise wouldn't have had the confidence or the time to figure out how to get to. Very funny guide as well that showed us some real local delights, not filled with tourists. Amazing!Written 23 November 2024
- 206jefferyh0 contributionsAmazing Day Trip/Outstanding Guide NikosWhat a perfect experience. Our day trip to the Temple of Poseidon with Nikos was nothing short of magical! From the moment we left Athens, Nikos made the journey so much more than just a road trip to an archaeological site. His deep knowledge and passion for Athens and his enthusiasm for sharing the region’s beauty were absolutely infectious. He showed us stunning viewpoints and breathtaking natural landscapes. What made the experience even more special was the hidden architectural gem Nikos shared with us…a site we never would have discovered on our own. He truly went above and beyond, even taking us to an incredible lunch at a local spot. This wasn’t just a tour…it was an unforgettable adventure led by someone who clearly loves what he does. If you’re looking for a personalized and enriching experience outside of Athens, we can’t recommend Nikos highly enough!Written 16 November 2024
- 264samyag0 contributionsCape Sunio and the Temple of PoseidonMy husband and I selected to tour Cape Sounio and the Temple of Poseidon with Thomas as our guide. The pre-tour communication was just a preview of the excellent service Thomas provided. Thomas made us feel like old friends from the very start of our tour. He took us to see places he grew up visiting and hidden gems we would never have encountered on our own. Thomas is extremely knowledgeable about so many subjects and has such a passion for Greek Mythology. He instantly drew us into his world. We had so many fantastic conversations on the way to the temple and on our return. Thomas waited patiently while my husband and I explored the Temple and the surrounding area. He had provided us a write up to help guide our explorations. We had such a wonderful and informative day and woukd not hesitate to book another tour with Thomas when we return to Athens!Written 15 November 2024
- chachaABQ0 contributionsHigh Expectations- Did not disappoint!First our transportation was delayed and we contacted Spyros and he allowed us to be late to the tour. We got there and had to use the restroom and kindly allowed us more delay. As we began the tour, I was uncertain it would be all we hoped for. Soon enough, we started exploring. Spyros took us through back alleys, into coffee shops, by new and old marketplaces and restaurants, sharing each step of the way little nuggets on culture, history, food, and stories over time how Athens has changed, etc. We had already spent 10 days touring Greece with a specialized guide and yet we still got so much insight. We almost felt local because we went to places we never would have otherwise. It was one of the highlights of our trip! He could have gone for hours if we hadn’t had a cutoff! He is passionate and you sense it as he stops, pauses and leans in to share another nugget.Written 13 November 2024

- Roam110483465000 contributionsLovely!Vasiliki has great energy and it is evident her venders appreciate her. She gave us a wide variety of tastes - olives, honey, nuts, meat & cheese, slouvaki and a deliciously sweet doughnut/ice cream dessert. We had our 9 year old with us and Vasiliki engaged with her tremendously. She was very informational about the city of Athens and gave suggestions for areas to wander for our remaining days. We highly recommend Vasiliki, she was hands down our favorite food tour guide we have ever had (we’ve done several food tours lately in Italy & Portugal).Written 6 November 2024

We went to unique local places, tried many new things, had PLENTY of food, and learned about the culture. Highly recommend this tour and if you're lucky enough to have Voula as a guide, YAMAS!Written 5 November 2024

Eleni is one of the best tour guides I have ever had. I was only in
Athens for a day so I was looking for an afternoon tour. The tour
originally was scheduled for 3:00 pm but I asked Eleni if we could
move the tour up an hour to 2:00 so I could have more time and she
gladly obliged. We met in Monastiraki square and immediately Eleni
noticed I was carrying two bags so she took me to a luggage storage
shop where I paid four euros to keep my bags secure for the entire day
and I was able to enjoy a relaxed and enjoyable tour for the next five
hours. Eleni began the tour giving a brief history of the square where
we stood followed by an explanation of the overall layout of Athens
before we began walking through the city center's different
neighborhoods, local shops, as well the meat markets. While Athens no
doubt is known for its historical sights this tour was able to combine
both local and everday places in the city along with the world famous
landmarks. My mind wonders so I would often ask questions that were
sometimes not related to specific points of discussion, but Eleni
graciously answered my questions not shying away from giving her
opinion, and skillfully redirected my focus back on the tour with the
next stop. The trip included viewing the Acropolis, the Parthenon, the
temple of the Olympian of Zeus, a Syntagma guards ceremony, plaka
neighborhood viewing the cast city of Athens, the Olympic Stadium, a
and a stroll through the National garden where we were able to view
birds and headbutting sheep. Halfway through the tour after viewing
the amazing graffiti artwork and scenic views of the plaka
neighborhood we stopped for a break at a coffee shop and had some of
the famous Athenian coffee. When we finished the tour I did not
realize how the time had passed. Eleni has a wealth of knowledge about
her city of Athens, she was personable and a joy to be with. I highly
recommend touring with Eleni if you are ever in Athens

I chose this tour to help save my feet after walking round all the
usual tourist spots, plus the fact that I wanted to see Athens from
different perspectives- from places tourists would not necessarily
know to go to! Theodore is a complete legend and so easy to get on
with. He's really considerate and knows his history so I felt able to
ask him anything. He is very friendly and really the 3 hour tour was a
definite highlight of my trip. I would recommend anyone wanting a new
experience in Athens to do this tour- I cannot recommend it highly
enough. And I got some great photos to show everyone back home!

We couldn't have found a more perfect introduction to Athens than with
Theodore and his amazing classic Fiat 500. He took us to some great
locations including some we would have never know about and we got a
great reactions from everyone who saw us on the road. You can tell
Theodore has a great love for his city and is enthusiastic to share it
with you. 100% recommend doing this tour if you're new to Athens.

My wife and I spent a half day with Nikolas yesterday and enjoyed every minute of it. Niko (we quickly became friends!) gave us a real insight into places we would not have been able to see any other way in such a short time, from magnificent views of the City, to the Port of Piraeus, to interesting neighborhoods. His knowledge of history was especially impressive. We did find ourselves having to ask about buildings we were passing from time to time (as a former guide myself, used to point out any and every building of possible interest) but that shortfall did not spoil the excellent few hours we had with Niko. Hugs all around when we left.

This is our second Athens tour with Yorgos. He is no longer just a tour
guide, he is now a friend. He gave us an amazing unscripted tour of
'hidden' places in Athens, including Philopappos Hill, Anafiotika -
with its unique alleys in Plaka and a nice visit to several Byzantine
churches. A very productive and educational 4-hour tour ! I should also
add that Yorgos is a pretty good photographer, capturing the right
moments and angles of the various sites we visited. We highly
recommend him !

We arranged with Nikolas for a 4 hour tour of Athens while we were in port during a cruise. He graciously picked us up at the port and drove us to many interesting sites throughout the city, where we stopped,
walked a bit and talked. He was extremely pleasant, engaging and informative. His english was excellent. We would have never been able to see so much or learn as much about the city if it were not for Nikolas. It was an extremely worthwhile and enjoyable experience.
Nikolas dropped us off in old town where we spent the rest of the afternoon on our own.We were really impressed with Athens, thanks to Nikolas.
We highly recommend Nikolas!
