We had a great visit and would recommend this tour however prepare for a few things. First of all the train trip is 4 hours one way and there was no food served on the train so be prepared. Once we arrived someone was waiting for us and knew that we had not eaten therefore had a little surprise stop at a small family run restaurant that had amazingly good freshly cooked food for us to purchase. We had a local guide who was born and raised in the area and she did an amazing job explaining all the monasteries that we visited along with some great details about the hermit priests that live in the area. The second thing to be prepared for is how strenuous the walks are to the monastery. One in particular had a very steep incline to reach the top and that was our second out of four monasteries that we visited. Unfortunately this left us a bit tired and we ended up not walking up to the fourth monastery. The views are amazing and the monasteries were a treat to visit.

The train ride was very long (4 hours each way), and I would definitely recommend getting the first class / class A tickets. You spend about 4 hours exploring 3 different monastaries. Ladies beware that you must cover your shoulders and knees so dress accordingly. Even men need to be wearing longer pants, shorts above the knee don't work for the last monastary. The sights are very amazing and unique however making the trip worth it overall. Lots of stops for photos.

I arrived to Greece the night before my tour and I hesitated to go, but decided to go and I am so glad I went because there was so much history and the views were incredible. The bus ride is quite long so make sure you take something to entertain yourself. Maria was such an incredible tour guide and she actually went out of her way to speak to some people in Spanish and Greek plus English. She is truly incredible and this company is beyond lucky to have her. If you are debating whether you should go or not don’t think about it and go!!

We were in a tour bus with 50 other people during a pandemic, not a minibus as advertised. We immediately went to lunch at a restaurant arranged by our guide with pre-fixed meals. We did not see the hermit caves as advertised. We were on our own to tour the monasteries but noticed other guides giving actual tours inside. The area is beautiful but it’s a long 4 hour train trip both ways.

First, it is a four hour ride from Athens to Kalambaka. Although this is no highlight it must be done if you want to see the monasteries. Second, the ride is worth seeing the monasteries. They are impressive to see from outside and impressive to see on the inside. There are A LOT of steps, so be ready. We were a little leg tired the next day. Don't miss out going into the churches in the monasteries. Very different than most European churches. You do pay at each of the three monasteries we entered, 3 euro each time. We are just post COVID opening in Greece so a total of four on the tour. The guide was fun, knowledgeable, and eager to show a good time and share his country. He is a local and proud of the area. I think the tour company, with enough travelers should book a train car and give lectures along the trip. Also, early departure and we didn't get a coffee or food until after noon.

We joined visit Meteora tour in October 2021. Being a Game of Thrones fan, Meteora was a must visit place for some time.

From Athens train station, we took 7:20 am train to Kalambaka. The tour bus was parked right outside of the train station. It was raining and we couldn’t see anything but clouds from some view points. Nonetheless, visits to the monasteries and the convent were memorable. Meteora was absolutely majestic. Regardless of a long journey about 15 hour round trip, it’s definitely worthy. Highly recommend it.

I would highly recommend to take a train and visit meteora. It is remarkable place. In addition, visiting meteora with a guide was efficient and informative option.
Katerina and her driver made sure that we have had enough time to visit three monasteries and stopped at scenic places for us to take pictures.
I was impressed by Katerina’s organisational skills and especially enjoyed stories at the stop of the Hermitis Monk’s house.

What a fantastic day! We took the 4 hour train up from Athens and had a great tour guide in Vassily and a good size mini-bus. We got to tour three of the six monasteries (Great Meteoran, Varlaam, Rousanou Monastery) and each was impressive. I don't see how anyone could rate this experience at less than 5 stars.

Our tour started with the caves that were first inhabited by hermit monks and progressed the the three monasteries. We finished with 25 minutes to catch a quick bite to eat and then another 4 hour train ride back to Athens.

This was a long day, but should not be missed. The views are awe inspiring!

Don't go to Meteora without Katarina as your tour guide. Also, don't go in the heat without this tour 🥵.
Katarina was super knowledgeable and awesome, even having experience with the hermit monk in Kalabaka as she is a local. Our driver was great and they provided us with plenty of cold water, information, and the greatest photos.
We saw the hermit monk caves then drove up to see 3 of the monasteries (more from the outside). Moderate amounts of walking on some rocky inclines and declines, FYI (but you can stay on the bus if you get too tired)
Be sure to wear a below the knee skirt/dress (ladies) & not a sleeveless top! Gents must have below the knee as well (I wore long shorts).

The good: I would still recommend this tour to anyone as it is amazing. The guide was great and knowledgeable, the views were spectacular, and the monasteries were really cool.
The bad: getting nicked and dimed at every monastery. Just include these tickets and food in the price and prepay.
The ugly: they put our seats on the train right next to the rest room. It was disgusting. A four and a half hour ride two directions next to a smelly bathrooms is horrible.
