We initially were just going to do the Acropolis tour, but Artemis was so brilliant we decided to also do the museum tour afterwards. Really recommend this. Probably the best 4 hours you can spend in Athens.Written 22 March 2025
- 1050602470 contributionsFabulous guide and great experienceGreat way to get to try the best traditional Greek food. Our guide Nicolita was brilliant from our first meeting and all the way through the experience. We had Greek coffee, pies, small plates at a very welcoming taverna, visited the meat market, fish market, and fruit and veg. We sampled ouzo, beer, and were fortunate enough to be offered some other drink by the locals We tried gyros and desserts. Thank you, Nicolita you made it specialWritten 22 March 2025

- isitsnowing0 contributionsEngaging and educational tour of the Acropolis and ParthenonAthens walks tours company gave us a very professional and enjoyable tour of the Akropolis grounds and museum. The tour started from their office which is located right next to the Akropolis metro station exit. They provided the listening devices and headphones here. The check in person also refunded us the €10 Akropolis ticket price for each person as Akropolis tickets were free that Sunday (March 2). Different groups were color coded and we were the orange group. It’s all very well managed and our guide Aegli took us into the grounds. Before taking us up she gave us a much needed brief about the history of Akropolis and Parthenon from its inception to Roman, Persians and Ottomans’ effect on this historical site. She showed us artists renderings of pulley mechanisms used to carry the rocks up the hill to build the temples. We took the scenic walk up the slopes to enter the Akropolis while she explained the significance of the various atriums and amphitheatres we came across along the way. Once inside the Akropolis grounds, there were three main temples, the Parthenon, the old temple of Athena and the temple of Athena Nike. The Athena Nike temple is no longer accessible to tourists. She told us though Parthenon has fallen into a state of disrepair the Greek govt did not want to rebuild it to its original form but sustain it in its current form as much as possible. She showed us sketches of how it used to look like when before it was semi-destroyed during Ottoman times. She also told us that large portions of the Akropolis excavated remains now lie in the British museum. I was interested in the temple of Zeus and she pointed out to me the pillars of the temple of Olympian Zeus located at the bottom of the hill. She gave us some time to experience the Parthenon for ourselves before taking us down to the museum. In the museum we started on the top floor (at the lego replica of Akropolis) and moved down. Our guide explained to us the significance of the Parthenon sculptures on display there. Most of the sculptures were broken in one way or another. She explained that some salvageable ones were recreated to completion while others left as it is (in pieces) with a sketch of the French traveller Carrey underneath it. The sketch showed what the sculpture looked like originally (as seen by Carrey in 1674 when he had visited the Parthenon prior to its destruction).Written 20 March 2025

- ProHunt0 contributionsAn absolute MUST DO in Athens!Truly a delightful afternoon spent sampling the very best cuisine in Athens! Food by itself is just good taste. But, in the company of an amazing and knowledgeable tour guide who treats you like family and gets you to the front of the line in the busiest of restaurants….every moment is special. “Yamas!” to Nicolette, our beautiful “Barbie,” who turned 4 hours of fooding into a lifetime memory!Written 19 March 2025
- cadenceq20250 contributionsAn Amazing ExperienceMy friend and I had an amazing time on our Greek Food tour with Alexandra. The stops were well curated and SO tasty and I was so incredibly thankful for the ease in which we were able to navigate the streets of Athens. The tour would not have been the same without our guide, Alexandra. She was kind and thoughtful, carefully explaining the history and process for every item. I have a dairy allergy and she was incredibly helpful towards that, always making sure I knew which items I could eat. The food in Greece is amazing, and it’s so much easier to enjoy it with a tour and a local guide like this. I found it a really good jumping off point for the rest of our trip so we knew what to look for in restaurants. Alexandra even gave us a list of restaurants to try in the future! There is so much food over the 11 stops, so make sure you pace yourself so you can try it all!!Written 19 March 2025
- 667matsg0 contributionsMuch to soak inMike was a very knowledgeable guide that took us through the history of Acropolis on our walk through the area, pointed out all the main attractions, and also guided us in the amazing museum as well. I am glad that I took the option to see the Acropolis museum as part of this tour. The museum is excellently laid out and really helped me understand more about the Acropolis.Written 18 March 2025

- 725jamic0 contributionsIf you want to see everything in a short amount of time take this tour!!I would have never seen all of these things in such a short period without a guide! I was on a short trip through Athens on my way to the islands and didn’t have much time to take in the Acropolis so this was perfect. It’s a bit of a long day but well worth it if you want to really take in the magnitude of these amazing ruins. This was an incredible experience. The tour guide was so knowledgeable it really enhanced my enjoyment. I tend to shy away from tours and see things on my own but I’m so happy I took this tour!!Written 17 March 2025

The meeting location was easy to find. Our Tour guide, Lisa, was incredible. Very friendly, patient and knowledgeable. Lisa was an excellent source of information and took her time explaining all that we were seeing. She is an Athens native and knew so much. She spoke clearly and was easy to understand. Lisa asked lots of questions to see how much her group knew. She even took pictures for anyone who wanted one at the end of the tour for us. She took a great family picture in front of the Parthenon for us. The tour was 2 hours. We walked from the meeting point to the top of the Acropolis where the tour ended. There are bathrooms at the top and the bottom. Not many places to sit. Not much shade. There is an elevator that can be taken up, however it looks like you must make arrangements to access the elevator. Water is available at the top for .50eur.
Great tour. A lot of slow walking, but definitely informative. I don’t feel we beat anyone though, even buying tickets in advance. We stood in line to get in with your group.
We each had voice transmitters with an ear plug so we could hear our guide easily.
100 percent recommend this tour.

We had a great tour at the Acropolis. Simon (Kimon) was very knowledgeable, really engaging and provided a great tour experience. He was really good at drawing everyone in, started with asking questions to engage with everyone about the Greek gods and kept engaging everyone throughout the tour.
Highly recommend this tour, we went at 5:30pm which was great as it can get really hot during the day.

Our tour guide was very passionate, friendly, and informative. We really enjoyed both sites. There were very few people there when we went, which helped make it an enjoyable experience. Therefore, I would recommend going early in the morning or not during peak times/season.

Just a huge hassle and waist of money. The information they tour guide gives is very very basic and just not worth it. You can get the info from a quick web overview of the site or go to the Parthenon museum. I seriously don’t need someone to be like “do you all know who Zeus is?”. The process of redeeming your purchase is a mad house. Show up 30-45 minutes in advance because you will wait in a huge line because the operator has a bunch of tours that all leave at the same time. The tours pile up on one another too at the site making the whole experience unenjoyable. I’ve visited the site on my own and it’s far better as you can avoid the cattle call.

This was an excellent tour! Our guide, Kimon, has degree in architecture and was very knowledge about the entire site. Not only was he able to point out and discuss the many sites, but included the history and mythology. We also paid for the tour at the museum where we could see the many artifacts he discussed up close. Overall, the day was more enjoyable and we got so much out of the tour than had we just walked up the hill ourselves. Highly recommend this company and Kimon.

Our tour guide, Georgina, was excellent! She was extremely knowledgeable and had answers to all the questions asked by the participants in our group. The way she relayed the information was easy to comprehend, and her delivery was very enjoyable. I appreciated how she would ask the group questions prior to just giving the answer filled with information. The only thing the tour company should consider is doing in the ear earbuds, as some people’s ears (like mine) are smaller, so the ear piece did not fit my ear. Luckily, I was able to stand close to Georgina the entire tour and hear her speak. The groups of 20 people max did help, too. I would advise doing the tour in the early morning before the Acropolis gets inundated with tourists, and before it gets too hot. We did the 8am tour. This was a great way to see and learn about the Acropolis and Parthenon!

Very informative guided tour of the Acropolis. The information about the meeting place was clear and helpful and our guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He answered questions from the group and the group size was not too big. Booking ahead saved a lot of time at the entrance.
Be aware that the toilets outside the entrance were out of order as were some of the drinks machines, I would recommend being prepared. I wasn’t sure whether we could bring water but that was fine. Food and other drinks are not. The information says that large backpacks are not allowed so we took very small bags but there were many people with backpacks
The site was busy in February so it’s a good idea to book ahead.

The Acropolis Afternoon Walking Tour was perfect! I would recommend it to anyone visiting Athens for the first or even umpteenth time as it really helps to put everything about the city into perspective. The tour guides also like to add their own anecdotes which keeps things interesting!
Magda our tour guide on this occasion was very knowledgeable about the history of Athens and gave thought provoking insights into the lives of the Ancient Athenians and how the influence of Greek mythology has made such a powerful impact on what we see today. She was also very friendly and had a great sense of humour.
I did not purchase an add on ticket for the Acropolis Museum due to limited time in the city, but I’ll be sure to use your services again. Thank you so much for the enjoyable experience!

We fully recommend the 8am tour start and using a guide during the heatwave. The pace and level of historical detail given by (Bill?) were spot-on, with a background spiel in the shade to give context. We would not even have glanced at the foundations of the temple of Dionysius, had we not been next to it, the start of it all!

I really wanted to like this guided tour. It cost more than £90 for the two of us. Having done the tour, I wish we’d just bought tickets for the acropolis and gone exploring by ourselves.
The company seems well organised. Bookings are in slots 30mins apart, but groups leave every few minutes. Our guide, Lydia, seemed very knowledgeable and she was certainly very kind and caring, but she spoke incredibly fast. It was hard to follow what she was saying. She would often walk ahead of the group, with the group quite spread out. She’d point at things and explain things while walking along, but at the back of the group it would be impossible to know what she was pointing at or saying.
The tour started with a long introduction to the Acropolis. She’d found some blocks for us to sit on. She didn’t introduce herself, but she did talk knowledgeably about the Acropolis and its history. In some ways this was the best part of the tour.
The tour took much longer than advertised, which we didn’t really mind. Lydia kept saying that we had all day ahead of us. What was a shame was that, in spite of the tour lasting longer, it still felt rushed. I didn’t feel I got a chance to absorb what I was seeing. I came away from the tour feeling I didn’t know much more than I did before. Going round the Acropolis Museum the next day helped. I would recommend doing the museum first and the Acropolis second!
At the end of the tour, she directed us to Monastiraki. This was the opposite way of where we started and miles from where we needed to be. My partner was rather tired by that point, after 3 hours of climbing and standing still.
I don’t want to sound like a spoiled tourist. Lydia was kind and when a woman (not from our group) fainted in front of the Parthenon, she immediately went to help. She is clearly passionate about the Acropolis and Greek history. I would really have appreciated a bit more time to absorb what we were seeing and a chance to ask questions. The tour would benefit from being a more interactive, as it is not at all interactive at the moment.
Taking pictures of people at the top was a nice touch, though.

I find that with ticket tour price is much higher than without ticket tour price and difference is much more than General Admission Ticket price for Acropolis & slopes (10€). What is the main difference if I buy with or without ticket tour?
Written 8 November 2024
The price is worth it, especially if your purpose is education, understanding history, and appreciating that a local is walking you through some of the most memorable places of the world through their own eyes. It's one thing to run up to these places without a guide and take pictures for your instagram... it's anther thing to show respect for your time in another country by understanding their history through one of their own people.
