About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- SJM10000 contributionsExcellent tour! This tour was excellent. Our guide Maelle was great, she was informative and friendly, and included everyone in our small group. The tour took us to places we would never have found otherwise, a real view of Athens and its history of rebellion up to the present day. Really recommended.Written 4 November 2024
- elyshiah20210 contributionsEye-Opening and Insightful Tour of Women in AthensThe “Women in Athens Tour” was incredibly knowledgeable, insightful, and truly eye-opening. Our guide, Maelle, was not only well-versed in the history of Athenian women but also made every moment interesting and engaging. Maelle was very friendly, and my husband and I loved our time with her as we uncovered the often-overlooked stories of women in ancient Athens. It was a refreshing and fascinating perspective on the city’s history. We highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to expand their understanding of Athens beyond the usual sights!Written 1 October 2024
- Ellen280 contributionsUnique tour about women in Ancient GreeceHad a fantastic ~2 hours with Maele on a small group walking tour learning about the women of Ancient Greece. I found the perspective fascinating and I’m glad I got to take this tour. She told very interesting stories you wouldn’t otherwise learn about. The tour leaves from Monastiraki, ends up near Plaka. It was hot in Sept still, so listen to the instructions about having water and what not, although Maele will guide you to shade spots as you move along.Written 18 September 2024
- jeanniemX5080NN0 contributionsGreat fun and very informativeAthens City Game: The Journey through Time. Fantastic game and a great way to see the city that you won't get from standard tours. Maelle was a great time travel guide who was always available over WhatsApp for clues when we got a bit stuck. The riddles and tasks were fun, engaging and varied. Maelle also gave us some great recommendations for food and drinks around the city. Fairly priced, would definitely recommend.Written 9 September 2024
- 613fernandal0 contributionsDo it!!!Incredible tour!!! Recommend 100%. Maelle is super knowledgeable and sweet. We have a great great time!!! Wish I had more time to go to more off beaten tours that they offerWritten 8 August 2024
- Karintjuh0 contributionsAmazing tourAmazing trip with a lot of interesting facts about ancient Athens. We Learned a lot this evening. Maelle was an amazing person with a lot of knowledge about this subject 🤩Written 8 June 2024
- Joanne O0 contributionsGreat experienceA must do activity if you are visiting Athens! The game is brillantly made and we learned so much about the city and its history while exploring on our own. A highlight of our time in Athens!Written 4 June 2024
- EVAmLandshut0 contributionsGreat start for our time in AthensWe booked the tour as our first activity in Athens, rather by chance and were very happy in hindsight. There were no other people booked that day (and the groups seem to be small anyway), so it was a private tour that gave us an excellent introduction to Greek history and the city. The guide was really knowledgeable, took her time and was very passionate about her topic.Written 29 May 2024
- meganjane0 contributionsEntertaining and informative history lesson with Culture HuntersThis is a must for anyone interested in understanding the Athens of today by looking at its turbulent past . Maelle is undoubtably learned but combines that with an enthusiasm and passion for her topic such that we were both entertained and informed . Culture Hunters offers a number of tours - we will certainly book with them again when next in AthensWritten 25 May 2024
- netazi0 contributionsDon't hesitate, this will be a highlight of your trip!Maelle is an amazing guide! She is very knowledgeable and warm. The subject is very dear to her heart, so that the information she gave us had a current feel to it. We gained an understanding of Athens that would not have had without taking the tour. Very very interesting and memorable. Highly recommend!Written 21 May 2024
- V2021HRdeans0 contributionsExcellent walking tourHighly recommend this tour. We learned so much context that is shaping our experience of Athens, and providing inspiration for the resistance work we are involved in back home. Our guide was very knowledgeable and fun to talk to. This was a highlight of our trip.Written 18 May 2024
- RouteburnTrack0 contributionsGreat info on the lives of women in classical Greece.Maelle from Culture-Hunters gave me a great tour of classical Greek historical sites, explaining what women might have done at each one. She talked about different classes of women, including poor women, slaves, and courtesans, not just the wives of wealthy citizens. Maelle was willing to give the tour just for me, as no one else has signed up for the day I choose.Written 14 May 2024
- U5002HRkatel0 contributionsA Perfect Addition to your Trip to Athens! We went on the "Athens: History of Rebellion Walking Tour" with Maelle and it was an absolute highlight of our time in Athens. There were 5 of us on the tour and Maelle took us through the last 200 years of political rebellion in the city. The tour was informative, interesting, and colorful. She showed us so many fascinating locations and gave us a social justice oriented understanding of Athens/ political scene. Additionally, Maelle took the time to reach out after the tour and share suggestions for restaurants and outings both in Athens and in Naxos, where we were visiting afterward. We highly recommend this tour and any tours or offerings from Maelle!Written 7 May 2024
- S3037RClinac0 contributionsUnique, must-do tour in Athens!Really happy to have gone on this walking tour! Our guide really immersed us into the story of women in antiquity, while walking through some less known, less crowded areas in the center of Athens. I enjoyed the interactive atmosphere and chill vibe. We got a lot of interesting information and fun anecdotes along the way!Written 12 March 2024
- constantinat8520 contributionsCultural diamond. The tour was amazing. Even though I am Greek I wanted to join this tour just to celebrate International Woman's day and to honor a bit the unknown heroes of the country. It was definitely worth it. There was more than an archeology tour, i learned so much about culture it really blue my mind.Written 12 March 2024

We did a Women in Ancient Greece tour. Maelle was our guide. It was a very small group. It was absolutely fascinating and eye opening. Very highly recommended. We got to see locations of historical significance that were outside of the main attractions and we would never have known about them. Maelle painted a picture of the lives of so many different types of women in Ancient Greece and their largely unfold stories. One of the best things we did in Greece.

An excellent tour. My teenage daughters loved it as much as I did. Maelle is very friendly and easy to talk with and captivated us for two hours with her stories of women in Ancient Greece whilst walking and seeing some still very significant sights off the beaten track. Highly recommended.

Excellent tour! We strolled from site to site with a fascinating commentary about the little-known women who influenced the most famous men of ancient Athens. From festivals, to mythology, to politics and scandals... Maelle from Culture Hunters really knows her stuff and makes history very down to earth and interesting. This is a tour that anyone could enjoy... easy walking, lots of information, and even a perfect after-tour lunch recommendation! Highly recommend.

What can I say? Apart from that we loved the visit!!
Maelle is an exciting woman and passionate about Greece who manages to pass on her passion to us.
We took a private tour at 2, Maelle took the time to visit us and it lasted 2h30. We learned a lot about the role and place of women in ancient Greece.
Thank you to her for this great time, I gave this to my boyfriend for his birthday who is a great enthusiast of ancient Greece and frankly he loved it!
We made the visit in early July, take water and cap!!

I took a tour about Women in Ancient Greece and our guide Maelle was fantastic. Even though I had done a tour of the area around the Athens and Roman Agoras, this tour took me to other spots and added to my understanding of Athens. Highly recommend!
