- deb10000 contributionsDisappointing visitThis is the most inhospitable winery I have ever been to, and I’ve been to many ;). Staff were there and not busy however we weren’t made welcome or acknowledged at all. Very disappointing as this winery had been recommended by a restauranteur in Heraklion. I’ll certainly be giving him my feedback. Two other wineries we went to were very welcoming and we did a tasting and bought wine in one and had a wonderful tour and tasting in the other. I could not recommend this winery.Written 24 May 2023
- Sinewa0 contributionsPleasant tasting of many good winesTasting itself was a great experience as they provide nice atmosphere and many good wines. Olive oil tasting could be a bit more expanded but overall it was nice. It was quite interesting to see and hear about production of wines as well.Written 12 September 2022
- MDUK0 contributionsReally enjoyable,This is one of the newer wineries having opened a purpose built building in 2017. The owner Lefteris had a lot of experience prior and his passion for his wine shines through. We met the wine maker Michalis and as it was a private tour was able to ask more questions about production. It’s relatively short production here circa 100,000 bottles a year. Consequently it doesn’t have a huge production area to see but it is a good balance if you are also visiting one of the larger wineries. What you can do here is spend a little more time sampling wines, with some food and an optional olive oil tasting and Ireni is a wonderful hostess. Make sure you buy some wine to take with you, the Kotsifali will sell out so grab it while you can.Written 24 October 2021
- claravorgaard0 contributionsUnfortunately a bad experienceMy boyfriend and I came saturday August 7 2021 to Digenakis winery. We had bought the tickets from home 5 weeks before and came at 2 in the afternoon (14:00) On the door we could see that the winery closed at 3 (15:00) but on their webpage the only possible time to book was a 14:00 . The lady who worked there seemed confused when we came and she looked at our booking appointment for a long time. The wine tasting was very quick, 50 minuts even though it was supposed to last 1,5 hours, because she had to close at 15:00. The lady was very sweet and polite hence we felt it was very inconvenient that we came. We could not have a tour in the wine basement and we walked a small walk afterwords outside the winery but we were very disappointed. We paid 58,71 euros which is a lot of money for 50 minuts wine tasting in a rush. Would not recommend.Written 16 August 2021
- Stephen7Continents0 contributionsSee the grapes, watch the production, taste the wineWe called at the winery during our road trip of the area in September 2020. We had not booked, and the place was deserted when we arrived. We entered through the side door and were greeted. Our lady host came to us and we started our tour. We saw grapes growing and tasted them. She showed us through production, down to the cellar, and we finished in a large tasting area. This was built in 2018, and as well hosting wine tours, showcases Greek art and artists. We sampled three wines for 10 Euro (could have tried five for 15 Euro), as well as buying some to take away. Very nice 90 minutes and recommended to you.Written 10 September 2020

My partner and I found this winery and it had good reviews so we decided to do the wine and olive oil tasting.
Probably a little hard to get to unless you have your own vehicle, but well worth the 20 minute trip outside of Heraklion, set against gorgeous hillsides in a quiet location.
We were greeted by our hostess Valia, more than looked after as the whole time we were there.
We were the only people who had booked the time slot, so we have the place to ourselves.
A really wonderful modern building with great views, would be perfect place to hold a party!
We opted for the slightly more expensive option and were rewarded with 8 wines to sample (4 white, 1 rosé and 3 red)
we enjoyed all of the wines, but we are predominantly red wine drinkers so preferred those and the rosé was excellent too. One of the white wines we really like so we were glad we got to try those as well.
The olive oil tasting was enjoyable, we got to try two different olive oil on local freshly baked bread.
The whole time we were well looked after by Valia, who gave a good explanation of each of the wines, and then left us alone to drink and discuss. The wine was served with a few nibbles, including a really excellent local smoked cheese.
After we had finished, there was no pressure to buy any of the wines, but we had enjoyed it so much and the prices were so reasonable that we ended up buying five bottles to take home. One of the bottles of rosé we bought didn’t last the evening as we drank it in the hotel.
All in all an excellent experience so glad we did it and we definitely return where to be in the area again. If you do go, I recommend taking the more expensive option, only cost a few euros more but trying all eight wines was amazing.

Excellent wines, we bought three, which is unusual. From for prior wineries we had bought just one. The guided tour was a delight, the guide extremely knowledgeable and friendly.
