About
There is more to Chania than the beaches and sunshine. Explore with SeabyBus the scenic heart of Chania, the Cretan countryside and its hidden gems. This half day tour starts from the Transfiguration Monastery at Kastelos situated on a rocky hill with a breathtaking view of the White Mountains and the Aegean Sea. Our next stop is the traditional village of Vouves, where we will visit the oldest olive tree in the world and the Olive Tree Museum. Passing through picturesque villages, olive and orange groves, we reach the Cretan Brewery, one of the few organised open breweries in Greece, where visitors can taste the Cretan beer Charma and learn about the brewing process in a guided tour.

About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Happiness125958572820 contributionsWonderful experienceOur driver, Thanos, and tour guides Christine, and Thalia at Knossos, were all amazing and accommodating. We had an on-time pickup at our hotel in Chania. Smooth drive with videos and good conversation to Knossos. The tour there was wonderful. I’m a history buff but the private tour and passion about the subject also got my mom and wife excited to learn more about the ancient Minoan civilization. It pairs very well with the museum in Heraklion immediately after. They provide a nice boxed lunch that was surprisingly tasty and unique to Crete. We also stopped in Rethymno shortly and made a second stop in Rethymno, per our request, to see their local University. We made it back a bit early, which was great for us. Very comfortable and well worth the money for the private experience.Written 25 October 2024

- I366BXdeans0 contributionsAmazing ExperienceAwesome experience, worth every penny spent. Highly recommend taking this private tour. Crete is beautiful and amazing; the cultural, the history and mythology. In addition you learn a few words in Greek to enhance your trip.Written 12 October 2024
- Mikarichan930 contributionsDo not hesitate, BOOK tours with SeaByBus! :)1000000000000% recommended! We were so well taken care of by them and all of the amenities were great, lunchbox with some local treats, olive and olive oil tasting and amazing views, beautiful beaches. They are incredibly insightful to avoid the most crowded areas and times to give their guests the best possible experience. :) We are eternally grateful for the hospitality and accommodating our pickup outside of their usual pickup zone so that we could join in on this awesome tour. This is something we will always remember! Hugs all the way from Iceland!Written 6 October 2024
- TravellingHibou0 contributionsExceeded all expectations - these guys really know what they are doingI found this tour via TripAdvisor, the reviews are all excellent so I was expecting a good day out but the tour really went above and beyond. The communication from Christina from the moment I'd booked was excellent, clear, friendly and so helpful. Their minibus is very comfy, air conditioned, modern, tv's for the excellent info provided during the drive. The lunch provided was excellent, Cretian pastries and a sandwich & drinks. Christinas knowledge and obvious pride for her heritage shone through, he was so engaging and helpful. The driver, (Kosta I think) was safe and sensible on the windy roads. The tour itself was excellent, we visited Elafonisi and Falasarna beaches then to Vouves to visit the beautiful olive tree and learn more about the olive oil industry on the island. It was just brilliant, faultless and worth every penny. Thank you so much!Written 1 October 2024
- flojo6710 contributionsTop NotchTourWe were a group of 8. Our tour was top-notch from the moment our driver picked us up in the luxury van, Throughout the entire tour our driver went beyond his call of duty making sure we were well taken care of. Our guide Christine, felt like a friend the moment we met her. She was very informative and knowledgeable sharing plenty of history. During our day trip, we wanted for nothing. Great food, drinks, and fun tied in with meeting new Friends makes this beach tour a must-do while visiting the island of Crete.Written 27 September 2024
- Departure423555842670 contributionsAbsolutely fabulousThis trip was wonderful from start to finish. Super friendly Christine welcomed us on board a lovely comfortable mini bus. She is so knowledgeable about chania and Crete and shared loads of information...the beaches are stunning but Falsarna was out favourite. Could happily have stayed there all day. The sand was like powder and so soft even in the sea. It was brilliant. Elafonisi is beautiful too. The water is so clear..stunning. The olive factory and visit to the old olive tree was really interesting. They have thought of everything. Free wifi on the bus, really good quality snack box, beach mats and umbrellas for the beach, water, beer, soft drinks...it was perfect from start to finish. Highly recommendedWritten 27 September 2024
- Chitownadventurer0 contributionsKnossos archeological site - a great experience!Six of us friends took the trip to the Knossos ruins and the associated museum. Christine and the driver were fabulous. They picked us up at the villa we were staying at in Chania and transported us safely to the sites. Christine was very informative about the history of Crete during the drive. At the Knossos site, we were met by a very informative archeologist that provided extensive detail about the history of the Minoan people and the Knossos site itself. On the way back, Christine arranged for an impromptu fun and informative olive oil tasting at a local olive oil factory. Overall we had a great experience and would highly recommend Christine and the SeabyBus for this experience.Written 24 September 2024

- Susan R0 contributionsSmall Group Tours is the only way to go!2 great beaches, particularly Falasarma which we LOVED. It had very clear turquoise water, sandy beach and swimmable. There was barely any of the pink sand when we were at Elafanosi. We also stopped at an olive oil factory and learned how they make the delicious olive oil and ate samples. We then stopped to see the oldest olive tree in the world and on our travels got to pass through cute small villages. Small group is the way to go! Kuddos your bus driver Christine.Written 18 September 2024

- Jserim0 contributionsDon’t Miss This Tour!My partner and I spent two weeks in Greece and this tour was one of the absolute highlights. Christine our tour guide was so knowledgeable and presented lots of information in fun and interesting ways on the bus ride between stops. The ride is quite beautiful and the beaches are amazing. The snack box they pack is delicious, as is the olive oil at the tasting. There are great opportunities to buy really excellent honey, olive oil and other locally-made products from stops along the way. Such a unique and delightful experience, I can’t recommend it enough!!Written 14 September 2024

- randolphs3670 contributionsBest tour for Elafonisi / FalasarnaBest tour if you want to see Elafonisi & Falasrna .. Personalised experience (small groups with minivan). Everything as promised : wifi, snacks, lots of drinks, A/C on board, umbrellas & mats. Smooth ride. Driver was knowledgable and drive was almost smooth and easy. Special thanks goes to Christine Moraitaki who was the perfect guide and went well out of her way to ensure that we were comfortable. Also along the way , she provided an excellent insight into Cretan traditions with the help of videos . Also, you get to see an olive plantation with the olive oil making process, as well as the oldest olive tree in the world. If you go to Crete, this tour is a must-do !!Written 29 August 2024

I had the trip of a lifetime with my husband earlier this month. I can honestly say that in all of my years of traveling, I’ve never had tour guides that I can call friends…until I met Christine & Thanasis with SeaByBus. They were both very knowledgeable & passionate about their town. It was a treat to learn interesting details & the history from locals! (Side note: I’m a little jealous most Cretan families have their very own olive trees!!) The first day of touring was a little overcast & rainy, but our guides worked very hard to coordinate our excursion with indoor wine tastings & tours of historical monestaries, & breathtaking countryside views of Chania. (Oh, and despite the rain, we had an absolute blast!) When the rain stopped we ended our first day admiring the world’s oldest olive tree while sipping Crete’s finest (& strongest) coffee. (A minor mention that we also got a little sample of Crete’s famous aperitif, raki! Yamas!)
On day two, Christine & Thanasis took us to a lovely local vineyard, Dourakis. We had a phenomenal time & took two bottles home with us. Our guides then took us to little villages to explore the town & we were delighted to shop in Rethimno, (a city by the sea) & enjoyed my favorite evening of the entire trip…the old Venetian port of Chania with an Egyptian-built lighthouse!
As mentioned earlier, this one of my favorite experiences on a tour thus far, and truly hope to stay in touch with our fabulous guides, Christine & Thanasis.

We had a wonderful private tour with this company and we were able to modify our tour to suit our interests. The service was exceptional from our pickup at the cruise terminal, our knowledgeable guide Christine, and the wonderful places we saw. Our tour started with panoramic views of the Chania old town and the mountains, followed by a guided walking tour around the port and thru the old town, we chose the brewery stop and were not disappointed - great beers (and the food looked amazing) - we then had a beautiful scenic drive up thru the gorge to a lunch stop for some local food. This tour was definitely a highlight of our trip. I hope I can come back to this beautiful island as there was so much more to see.

This is a wonderful way to visit the more hidden parts of Crete. Thanks to Christine and Thanos we were treated to local delicacies and introduced to many traditions we otherwise would have missed.
