- So L0 contributionsMagically creative afternoon making my marble sculpture!Amazing marble workshop, very patient and kind Jean Baptiste guided me step by step to complete a marble sculpture and polish it (after polishing the marble looked really great)!! Open space, wonderful view towards Antiparos and the calm presence of Jean Baptiste, always ready to show me how to handle the tools, made the experience in his workshop even more unforgettable!! I highly recommend it! Uniquely magical and creative afternoon!!Written 22 June 2023

JB is a really great artist, and teacher, with a deep passion for his work....and for the work of his visitors. We were delighted ( and surprised) at our creations! Very special experience learning and carving our own marble pieces at sunset with a view of the beach. JB was very patient, helpful and informative. He made us feel at ease while working with the tools, and provided the perfect balance of independence and guidance with our projects. The 3 hours flew by!

What an amazing experience this was. We started with a talk about the marble production history of Paros and the different types of marble. Jb then gave us advice on what types of sculptures we could make and what types of marble we should choose for that. It was a multi languaged attendance and he ensured that everyone understood the instruction. We then got to choose a piece of raw stone that would work for our design. Jb spent time with each of us ensuring that we were comfortable using the power tools. It was a bit scary at first wielding an angle grinder, but Jb was always watching and assisting. I have no ideas where the 3 hours went. It literally whizzed by. We stopped for a quick break to watch the amazing sun set view from his workshop and by the end of the course we all had a beautiful piece of art to take with us. We tied it in with a visit before to the ancient marble quarys to understand the history and a trip to some marble workshops to get some inspiration for our peices. We then went to some galleries to see Jb's creations, which were stunning! I would highly recommend this workshop. Such a fun, but calming way to spend some time in Paros. Thanks Jb 😊

JB’s Atelier-marble workshop was an awesome experience for our family of six ladies ages 11-66. JB briefly shared the unique qualities and history of marble from different islands in Greece—Naxos, Paros, followed by the safety guidelines and use of different tools to create a marble piece of your own. Two of us made crosses, one made an anchor, two made a jewelry bowl/crescent moon, and one made a votive candle holder. JB was knowledgeable, friendly, hands-on and patient with each one of us as we worked on our marble pieces. After a couple of hours of focused work, my 11 year old granddaughter accidentally pushed a little too hard on her jewelry dish and it broke in half. She was very very upset. My daughter in law tried consoling her, didn’t help. JB kindly said to her, this happens often, the marble didn’t want to be a bowl, it wanted to be something else. JB put a smile on her face and together they came up with the idea of a crescent moon, it turned out beautiful and she was very happy. It was a memorable experience for all of us and one that I would highly recommend.
We stayed at Naoussa Bay Villas (loved it), and rented a car to explore various parts of Paros. Took us about 25 minutes to JB’s Marble from Naoussa—nice scenic drive.

We had a very authentic and creative workshop with our host (a true artist) and created our own pieces within 3 hours of time. We have been a group of 4 tourists and another friend/artist and received an introduction together to lean about the materials and started to work on our own pieces right after the intro. Everyone received individual tips and advice on how to start, continue and make the best out of it. I enjoyed the creative workshop and was very proud to have my own handmade souvenir I could take home!
Room for improvement as I perceived it:
- Safety equipment: we had to bring our own mask & earplugs (could be included - can be stressful to organize for tourists). Goggles where available as well as working gloves however old and used and not so nice to reuse after many others (could be cleaned and renewed once in a while)
- Comfort: In three hours time guests might need to drink a water; Guest toilet still under construction but will be in good condition soon (good); Very windy place outside (wind protection and better light would be a true improvement)
Thank you for the event and keep going ;) It is really a special activity
Regards

Due to ferry issues our class got moved back a day and JB was very accommodating for our group.
This class was my idea, my friends had no idea what they were in for. But in the end he got them all involved and intrigued into the creative process. They are still talking about it. As we came across marble sculptures and statues on the rest of our trip they stopped and studied it, they stopped and watched the marble artists we came across. They found a new appreciation through this class with JB. We all got to bring home our own creation as a custom souvenir of our trip.
By far one of the best experiences on Paros with a beautiful island/water backdrop.
10/10 for experiences 100% would book again.

My husband and I had the BEST time learning how to carve marble. I am a fairly experienced sculptor, but have never worked with stone/marble and absolutely loved it. My husband is very much a beginner, he was nervous as first, but JB was exceptionally helpful & patient, and he walked away with a beautiful piece he made himself, as well as the confidence to try something like this again. JB is incredibly talented and will guide you as much or as little as you need. The tools are the real deal, so leave your kids home, but amazing for couples or adults of any skill level to learn something new and bring home your own Greek marble souvenir!

This marble class was a fantastic experience! JB was an excellent instructor, explaining the techniques clearly and providing support throughout the entire process. We were a bit nervous about using the power tools, but JB's guidance and safety instruction put us at ease. I highly recommend this class to artists of all levels....even for kids!

My wife and 16 year old son did the Marble Workshop and had a great time. Jean Baptiste is very nice and patient. They did a great job creating violins that we have on the bookshelf to remember our travels to the Greek Islands. I would recommend this experience when visiting Paros.

Favorite experience in Greece!
I’ve been traveling for over a month from Thessaloniki to Meteora, Crete, Santorini… and this was such an incredible experience! Maggie is a great teacher and sculptor! I learned how to work with marble with the real tools from Pyrgos where she learned from the experts! We just traveled to Tinos and visited the marble museum and I had a unique understanding because of Maggie’s class. I highly recommend this to everyone. Today they loaded a huge piece of marble onto the ferry, and again, I thought of my amazing experience of carving the marble on a beautiful hill in Naxos! Thank you Maggie for making my trip so memorable!!! I’m going home with a real treasure! A marble sculpture that I made myself with an experience that changes my view when I look at anything made of marble from flowering, to a column, a bust and a church!!! Don’t miss this once in a lifetime experience!

We travelled through Greece for 2 weeks and all three of us agreed that this was the best thing we did during our trip. JB was patient with our below-beginner skills and showed us what we needed to get started on ur owns works of art. The studio is near the water and had an amazing sunset view. Do not miss this!
