- 561patrickf0 contributionsGreat city intro!Natalie was thorough and professional! Excellent intro to city. Beautiful city and great ride on the boat too! Thank you!Written 4 September 2024
- judysokol0 contributionsStockholm city tour- Excellent!Recommend a fantastic city tour of Stockholm, given by August (his name) at Amitylux Guided Tours, amitylux.com. He proved to be the best guide we’ve ever had the pleasure of experiencing-his breath and depth of knowledge was laudatory and perhaps, most important, gave the group a balanced and compassionate understanding of Sweden’s history and culture. He garnered a diverse group of inquiries and honestly answered all the questions. He was personable and had a fun sense of humor. I only wish he could be cloned for other countries we’ve visited. Stockholm is a wonderful city- on all accounts!Written 31 August 2024
- dennis w0 contributionsGreat overviewExcellent historical introduction. Our guide Nalalie was great, very informative and approachable. Only 10 people booked and only 8 showed up so it was a nice sized private group. The boat portion was good in terms of what you see, a circle around Djurgarden, which again gives a good overview of the city with a taped commentary on earphones at your seat( comes in multiple languages too). Highly recommended.Written 26 August 2024

- Global7036640 contributionsGreat way to start your stay in Stockholm, see some of the city, learn some history, & get ideas about where to go next. The walking tour takes about 2 hours and is not at all physically challenging - some small hills, crossing streets, cobblestone roads, etc. - typical "old town" touring. Our tour guide was fantastic, he had laminated photos he shared with us to help illustrate all that we were discussing and observing, he was very helpful and knowledgable, and he did an excellent job of setting a good pace for everyone and keeping us on schedule while still allowing flexibility for many photographs and a couple "quick dash over here" side trips to peek around corners. We all agreed we would absolutely take another tour with him as a guide. The boat portion of the tour was a pre-recorded audio guide that we joined once we departed with our walking tour guide (who led us there and ensured we all got on safely, etc.). The canal boat tour portion is not "private" per se as other groups and individuals do join that boat and it makes two stops along the entire route to allow others to join or depart as needed. We enjoyed the content and presentation of the walking tour much more than the pre-recorded canal boat tour; however, it was absolutely lovely to see everything from the water and we certainly would not have been afforded those views any other way. We would take this tour again (no regrets at all) and it's worth pointing out that the boat tour offers a nice little bar/cafe and bathroom on board.Written 17 July 2024
- mariansQ9838FN0 contributionsGreat way to experience StockholmWe had a really good time on this tour. The combination of walking trough the old town first and then taking a trip on the boat was great. I really liked our guide, he was very knowledgeable and entertaining. I definitely recommend this tour. It took about half a day and at the end our guide gave us a list of other fun things to do in Stockholm.Written 11 June 2024

Very friendly and was open to questions. Gave us a useful restaurant guide, we visited one of the restaurants on the list and it was very good. Lovely boat trip after which was again very informative and also relaxing. Would recommendWritten 26 May 2024
- TG W0 contributionsTake this tour, it's great! We had a great time on the walking/boat tour of Stockholm. Our guide Bengt was very knowledgeable about the history of Stockholm, Sweden, and the Kingdom of Sweden in general. His walkthrough of the important buildings in Stockholm was interesting from both architectural and historical viewpoints. He brought us up to speed with the current government structure and the history of Sweden's Royal Family. We really enjoyed the walking tour. He was kind enough to give each of us a really great map of Stockholm (all museums explained and identified) and his recommendations for good restaurants. The boat cruise was a nice way to end the tour. It was so interesting to see the city from the water and it is definitely a water city with its 14 islands and more than 50 bridges. You better understand the history of Stockholm from this perspective. All in all, this was a great tour, I highly recommend it!Written 26 May 2024

- kim631560 contributionsReally wanted to like this tourWalking around Stockholm and learning the history was interesting. Our guide, Bengt, was a nice man but unfortunately he spoke very softly and it was hard to hear him. We had a very small tour group of only 4 adults and we struggled to hear him. The canal boat ride was a let down because the headphone jacks on our side of the boat did not work. I would not do this tour with kids (we didn’t have any in our party but not for kids), and I think only adults very interested in history would like it.Written 16 October 2023

I appreciated that OURTOURS provided a knowledgeable guide for this tour of the historic Gamla Stan (old town) and the VASA Museum. Katrin Lindén’s impressive knowledge of the history of Sweden, Stockholm & Stockholm architecture made for a wonderful and valuable tour! In the old town, Katrin provided interesting insight about the history of Sweden’s leaders, royalty, wars, etc. She was even equipped to show us photos to enhance her explanations. She continued the tour on the ferry (both ways). We are grateful to have had Katrin as our guide through the Vasa Museum. It is quite extensive, and her educational highlights were super interesting and helpful! When we asked for lunch recommendations, she was happy to oblige. (The cinnamon rolls were delicious!) I highly recommend this tour and Katrin from OURTOURS!

An excellent informative tour around the Old Town of Stockholm. Tour guide Bengt was knowledgeable and courteous and eager to answer questions. After the Old Town he takes you on the ferry and to the impressive Vasa Museum, where he also gives a brief tour before leaving us to explore alone. This is a 3 hour plus tour with lots of walking, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes. Highly recommend this tour.

We landed in Stockholm and had a 12 hour layover so we decided to do a quick walking tour. This tour took us through Gamla Stan and finished at the Vasa Museum. Our guide was very kind and knowledgeable. He answered all our questions and shared with us the history of the architecture and the key figures that inspired modern day Stockholm. I highly recommend.

We had a lovely tour with Natalie. My friend and I were the only people on the tour, which made for a great intimate experience. We learned so much about the history of Stockholm's old town. We spent 2 hours walking all over the old town islands with Natalie sharing amazing details. Then we took the ferry together over to the Vasa Museum, where Natalie gave us a short overview. The tour ends there and we were able to spend another hour or so on our own in the Vasa Museum (we also had a nice lunch in the cafe there). I definitely recommend this tour.

Natalie was our guide with eleven
travellers. Natalie spoke softly and with a heavy accent
so, she was difficult to understand. She seemed to think we
were on an architecture tour, as she constantly talked about
the different buildings architecture, ignoring what event or
person made the building important. She also walked past
numerous statues and churches with no comment. After about 90 minutes
She pretty much lost her audience, some leaving the tour. Vasa
museum was fantastic.

We are sorry that you are not completely satisfied with the tour. In this tour, we try to cover Stockholm and Sweden from several different aspects, including the history of Stockholm and Sweden, architecture, life in the city, and Sweden and the Swedes in general, etc. Time is limited, and sometimes, balancing the time spent on these aspects is challenging, and sometimes, we might pass a statue without commenting.
The tour is a "small group tour" (we do not accept more than ten participants, not eleven). One idea with the small group is that we want open communication, and the participants can influence the tour's content. If we get many questions about architecture, the tour will focus more on architecture. Also, Stockholm Old Town is one of the best preserved in Europe, and the architecture from different epochs reflects the history of Stockholm and Sweden.
We are glad that you liked the Vasa Museum. We agree; it is a fantastic museum, and it is unique in the world! You wrote that some participants left the tour, which sounds strange; we always count our participants when we enter the museum since the tour includes the entrance. Referring to that counting, no one was missing.
Thank you for your feedback! We will be more observant and check with our participants more often about their interests to cover what is expected and ensure that what we say is hearable and clear. We take all feedback seriously and always try to improve our tours.

It was a very informative walking tour of Stockholm. Our guide was very friendly and helpful. The introduction to Stockholm was very solid, the ferry ride got us positioned to see the Vasa museum; and, after the visit to Vasa we walked around the island (very picturesque landscape) and finished our day with a visit to the ABBA Museum. ABBA was truly magnificent and memorable!!

This was a good overall tour but it is a bit disjointed and rushed at times. I got a vague idea of the history of Stockholm and Sweden. The highlight that was the Vasa museum which I thought was pretty cool. The downside to that was that if we had done the Vasa museum by itself then our ticket would get us into the Nearby Nordic museum as well. Doing it through the tour didn’t get that for us

Thank you, Joseph, for your feedback. I am glad you thought the tour was good overall, but we are sorry that you felt that it was rushed at times. We always try to keep the tempo so nobody should feel rushed, but this time we obviously could have been more attentive.
There is a misunderstanding about the ticket to the Vasa Museum and the entrance to other nearby museums. The ticket to the Vasa Museum is only valid for the Vasa Museum! There is no ticket that includes the Nordic Museum. There is a possibility to buy a _combination ticket_ (100 SEK extra) to visit the nearby “Vrak - Museum of Wrecks”. However, there is so much to see in the Vasa Museum that you can spend the whole afternoon there, and most tourists think this is enough.
An often-appreciated advantage of visiting the Vasa Museum as part of an organized tour is that you don't have to stand in the often-long queue at the entrance. And, more important; in our tour, when walking through Old town, and talking about Swedish history we put the Vasa ship into context. We try to make it possible to understand why one of the warrior kings in the Swedish great power era in the 1700-th century wanted to build the most beautiful and powerful ship in the Baltic Sea and why it capsized at its maiden voyage after less than a mile of sailing.
Thank you again for your feedback, Joseph. We hope you will tour with us again, and feel comfortable giving us feedback during the trip so we can make adjustments if necessary.
Best regards,
Bengt

This was a great experience! Bengt was a knowledgeable, personable, engaging guide who taught me so much about the history of Stockholm and Sweden. He welcomed my many questions and we were never rushed. Walking tours are a fun way to learn and experience, as well as get oriented to a place. Sad when this tour came to an end! Highly recommend.

The Guide was extremely friendly and always available for any question or explanation about Stockholm's Old Town. I liked it very much and was completely elucidated about the history of this part of the city. I was very lucky with the weather, because it was always sunny.

The tour description was right - a WALKING tour that went on and on. While we enjoyed our guide, many visits were just walk-by descriptions of sites. Went into the Royal Palace, stood at the admission desk, and left. Standing and viewing a picture of the Royal Family in a plastic file sleeve for 10 minutes, and having each person described in detail, was a bit tedious. My review might be influenced by the fact that we scheduled this tour at the end of our visit so we had already seen many locations - so take my review with a grain of salt. BUT be sure to wear your walking shoes!

Thank you, Gary, for your feedback. Yes, this is a walking tour; in the Old Town we walk about 1.5 miles and, after the boat trip, another 0.5 miles to the Vasa Museum. So, in total, about 2 miles (3,2 km). But we walk at a slow pace, and we stop at different sites, take photos etc., and we are open to adjustments of pace.
The tour is a walking tour through the history of Stockholm and Sweden. The sites we pass are connected to events in Swedish history. The beautiful houses from the warrior kings' era during the 16th and 17th centuries connect to the Vasa ship, which might be seen as a symbol for the time and the dreams of the great power époque. The admission desk of the Royal Palace happens to be situated in the beautiful Hall of State. We stop here like the representatives of the people used to do when meeting the king who was sitting upon the same magnificent Silver Throne which dates back to the 17th century. We also present today’s royal family to you. Princes and princesses balancing living a life in modern society and at the same maintaining an air of nobility and glory- which is not always that easy.
I might agree with you, Gary, that this tour fits better as an introduction to Stockholm and Sweden than something you do at the end of a visit. Thank you again for your feedback, and we hope you will tour with us again if you return to Stockholm.
