About
Haga is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Gothenburg. The pedestrian street Haga Nygata is lined with well-preserved houses, many in the characteristic Gothenburg style called "landshövdingehus" with one floor in brick and the rest in wood. Each iconic house and building have a wealth of historic significance and during this tour we will enlighten you in some of the best ones.
During the 1900th century the entire neighbourhood used to be a slum with a seedy reputation although you would never know it today as Haga is by far the city’s hippest area with no shortage of cafes, delicatessens and independent shops guaranteed to charm you in the most Swedish of ways. Our local guide will navigate you to the must see places, the hidden gems, the local hotspots and give you a proper introduction into the most iconic neighbourhood of Gothenburg.

About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Kepolka0 contributionsHighly recommend for people who want to try new foodsReally fun way to experience a little bit of nordic food. We tried some game meat, licorice, and bought some cloudberry jam to take home. I went with my sister, and we had a great time walking around Stockholm.Written 31 January 2025
- OnThe50Yardline0 contributionsConfrontational & MisleadingThe food was excellent that they served, but that is all that was good. They say it’s a full meal but the portions were tiny and I left me feeling like I was nickel and dimed, nothing close to a meal and hungry when it was over. The worst part of it was the guide. I get it, I’m Norwegian-American and show up in a Dale of Norway sweater; the Swedes don’t care for either, based on other encounters I have had, too. But I don’t need to be politically questioned by a host asking if the US even has a welfare program. Of course we do. But we are not a social welfare state with a VAT tax of 25%, nor does the US want to be. We are a capitalist society and make no bones about it. Who wants to hear about that when they are on a food tour, by the tour guide of all people, who was very hard to understand and whose English was sub-par, to boot. Everything I said he was either condescending or outright confrontational. There were only 3 participants including myself and the only nice part was the couple from Australia. The last place we went to was in Old Town and I was staying at the Reisen Hotel, with a room facing the water. I said I liked it a lot but I felt like there were more people working there than guests and it was colder than any other part of the Stockholm. I really like Stockholm but he said I was mistaken and he had never heard of Old Town being colder than the rest of the city. My gosh, how rude can you get? I am staying there and I was definitely colder than other parts of the city and I have been all over the place. And he argues with me about it. It was the worst food tour I have ever been on. The write-up about being a full meal is extremely misleading and the manners of the guide was atrocious. I get it…Europe runs a huge trade surplus with the US while we run budget deficits defending Europe from the Russians and Chinese (and the Swedes barely get approved to join NATO right after the Russians invade Ukraine) and the US does not live close to either of them. The newly inaugurated President threatens tariffs and that is a bit threatening when he campaigns on the fact the party is over for everyone. And no one likes the Norwegians here because who likes their next-door neighbor anyways, that they used to rule and now they are swimming in oil revenues with a pint-size population. I get it. But leave your politics out of my food tour that is overpriced and serve something other than pint-size portions you call a meal leaving me hungry and mentally inferiorated at the end of the disaster!Written 20 January 2025
- nathalienX5264CE0 contributionsNice & pleasantVery interesting and a pleasant tour. Our guide provide us with many info about the culture, history and specizlities of swedish food. We spent a very nice afternoon and tasted good food. We recommend this tour to travellersWritten 13 January 2025
- katrinao7050 contributionsFantastic experience!A lovely day spent with lovely people. I particularly enjoyed trying foods I’d never attempt to buy on my own, most notably bear and reindeer within a busy food hall full of locals as well as salty licorice & fish soup. Thank you for a wonderful day!Written 1 January 2025
- 32mylesf0 contributionsAn all round excellent experience. There was a good variety of food to taste including some slightly challenging items, in particular some of the liquorice, but all of it was delicious. The guide gave a good overview of the foods history and the walk through the city itself was a good interlude between the food as well as a nice guide to the architecture and history.Written 10 December 2024
- Pioneer3212370 contributionsNo ShowWe showed up on time for the tour but the guide was a no show. We contacted the tour operator but they never responded. We did get a full refund which is appreciated but no apology for wasting our time and the round trip transportation cost.Written 9 December 2024
- janicek6110 contributionsNot good.Guide never showed up. Waited 15 mins. Contacted Aviator for refund. And went thru their live chat, which was a lot of back and forth. Said they initiated refund but no excuse or reason given for the guide not showing or contacting me priorWritten 5 December 2024
- Lisa C0 contributionsWorth the WalkThis food tour gives you everything you would want in Stockholm, history, food, walking, and great views of the city. While some reviews complain about main stops being food halls for me, that was the best part. You get to experience the rich food hall and then the everyman food hall. Fritz was a great tour guide who was very knowledgeable about the history of different Sweedish spots throughout the city. Would highly recommend this tour!!Written 3 December 2024
- AustintoBoston0 contributionsSample of Swedish CuisineThe best thing about this tour was having the chance to try some interesting items that I might not order myself, like bear, moose, and venison. Most of the tour takes place between two different food halls, with some leisurely walking in between. On our particular day, there was one larger, sit-down dish served at a fish stall, but I got the impression that this was not typical, and was done in place of a multi-course tasting. For that meal, guests had full reign of the menu, which was pretty nice. The cheese pie was what I tried and very filling, but tasty. I have to admit, the tour guide (Greek guy with long hair) was rather reserved and didn't do much to engage the group during the walks. Instead, he shuffled along with his hands in his pockets and his head in the clouds. On other tours I've been on, the guide usually takes interest in asking a group this small where we're all from, why we're all visiting the city, etc. but this guy did nothing of the sort. He would essentially speak if spoken to, but nothing more to carry a conversation. Still, I'd repeat this tour if given the chance since the food offerings were worth it.Written 2 December 2024
- davidbD8360RC0 contributionsOK but a bit underwhelming and a lot of walking with nothing inbetwenThe tour was OK, but I felt that a couple of the tastings weren't particularly relevant to an overall Scandinavian food story, others might have been better. Also, in my opinion, it is a little lazy and unimaginative of the organizers to have 5 of the 6 tastings in 2 food halls with nothing in between. If I'd known this was the itinerary, I could have done this myself with a modicum of research. Having said that, the stop at Kajsas Fisk was excellent and their fish soup was great!Written 23 November 2024
- kc487939390 contributionsMaximize your time in StockholmVery nice tour. I was one of only four guests, which was lovely. Natia was lovely, and very knowledgable. This was a great way to really appreciate the Old Town, beyond just walking around by yourself. I got a good feel for the history, and saw a lot of interesting things I wouldn't have known to look for on my own.Written 19 November 2024
- Watties20130 contributionsGuide did not show upThe guide did not show up hence the bad review. No communications at all from the tour operator which was very frustrating as we could have booked another tour if they had cancelled prior to the time. Just a waste of time for us and really disappointed. One positive was that the payment was refunded once I requested it.Written 17 November 2024

- Travelfrog210 contributionsDefinitely worth the experience for a flavor of SwedenOur tour guide was the excellent Valentina. We visited many different food places and I would say overall this experience was very interesting and the amount of food included was plentiful. I recommend you come on this tour having not eaten beforehand!Written 14 November 2024

The tour was nice. The guide was friendly and knew a lot about Haga which made it an interesting and pleasant experience. However ~44 euros for a 1.5 hour tour is just realy expensive so I would say the bang for buck ratio is kinda off.

This was a really interesting tour and our guide was both friendly and helpful. My only problem was that the slope up the hill was too steep to be safe for my wheelchair.

Top knotch guide! Kalima spent way over 2 hours with us and our small group of 8. My husband and I are 76 and 81 and Kalima and other participants were very kind and accommodating. We only had a day here. What a fortunate choice we made.

The guide never showed. Got the money back smoothly, but our city walk unfortunately never happened as we had planned for.
