This was the best tour I did (our of four) in Rovaniemi. Braulio was accommodating and very knowledgeable. I knew it'd be nice, but (being a California girl) I didn't know how absolutely breathtaking this seemingly untouched trail would be.
First, I recommend using the Beyond Arctic's snow suits. We all invested in bringing our own snow parkas, pants, etc., but the snow suit is the way to go.
Despite being 5ish hours, it didn't seem that long. The terrain changed as we went higher up. Braulio had timed it so we had wonderful light during the whole trek. His pictures are stunning. I appreciated his photography since my hands were too cold to take off my gloves and fiddle with a camera.
I'd recommend doing a private tour, so you can go at your own pace. My 10 year old daughter joined us and had no trouble keeping up.

Greg led us on an exceptionally beautiful hike around the Korouoma to see the frozen waterfalls. It was a relaxed and well paced hike. I am not a hiker and I really enjoyed the beauty of the path. The toasty melted cheese sandwiches and sausages by the fire were also really welcome when I started freezing. The staff at the store were also so accommodating and hospitable. Absolutely recommend it!

Thank you for this review! The Korouoma frozen waterfalls hike can be demanding and taking the time needed to hike the path makes it very enjoyable. The path if full of beautiful nature and photography opportunities and photography sure is one way to take some breaks during the hike. Thank you for joining our tour. We wish you all the best for the future!

Juho is a brilliant operator and even better photographer. We completed three activities with Beyond Arctic and had a fantastic time on all of them. Juho took us into the wilderness on our photography tour, Marcus on the Ice Fishing and then Bralio took us on a Northern Lights adventure the following night!

I did this tour on the cusp of Autumn/Winter, when there was hardly any snow. I believe this tour isn't worth running in these conditions. Tour group was small, a husband & wife who were rebooked from a cancelled tour, one was an amateur photographer, and me at a professional level.

Overall, I don't feel that this was a genuine photography tour - more of a guided hike, that wasn't worth the advertised price.

While the tour guides were nice on my day, they seemed to be more hobby photographers than professionals/published photographers.

The location isn't that far off the beaten track. The majority of the trip was spent walking through the same bland terrain of tree trunks (without interesting opportunities to push one's photographic skills). The main lookout wasn't anything special a location that had been photographed many times before, midday light didn't provide any interesting opportunities.

I was hoping to leave with a small body of quality photographs to capture the essence of Finnish Lapland. The amateur photographer was also quite bored. Out of desperation I shot the river crossing next to the carpark, that was the most interesting part of the day.

I did voice my disappointment to the guides, and they made an impromptu stop at a frozen lake on the side of the road which was beautiful and appreciated.

While snow would have improved the vistas, the tour structure could be improved with the addition of some interesting stops that push different techniques (long exposures, sunsets, etc), and more considered time of day / lighting conditions for these, would be something better marketed as a 'photography tour'.

Packed campfire lunch was good, toasted cheese sandwich and sausages.

My opinion was shared with the owner at the time.

Hi there, Thank you for taking time reviewing our tour and sharing your thoughts with us! I’m very sorry that our photography tour did not fill out your expectations. It is a bit hard to remember this case exactly as your comments come over 1 year later, but clearly the location and Lappish nature we have here in Rovaniemi area was something you didn’t find inspiration in your photos. Explore the Wilderness – photography tour has been our number one daytime photography tour and has been operated already over 3 years. Have to say this is the first time the location and the nature here in Rovaniemi didn’t satisfy. In our mind whole tour represents best elements of southern Lapland including; wild running river with bridge, Nordic forest, swamp area, top of the fell sightseeing spot, rocky shoulders from time of the ice age, natural springs and many other. I’m surprised that you didn’t find anything to photograph with all this around you. Maybe it was something else you were looking for. We run the tour all year round because of 8 seasons of Lapland and as there are always something different to photograph in the Arctic nature. Last winter snow came very late (beginning of December) and unfortunately there is nothing we can do for this fact. In that, I totally understand your frustration in this feedback if you were looking to get some wintertime photos. During last Autumn we were honest with the fact of snowless winter and informed our guests joining the tours about it and that the locations are not looking as magical as they are with the full snow cover normally that time of the year. I’m very sorry if you had not been informed about this fact or didn’t know this before travelling to Lapland. The tour schedule is built so that during the winter we have all the possible day light available for photography. Here in the Arctic day last only around 4-5 hours and we must use whole this time to get best out of the light conditions. This is the reason the tour is scheduled between 9-14, to be able to reach the location at the time of the sunrise at 10am. I’m sorry that our tour didn’t fill out your expectations and you did not enjoy the Lappish nature that time of the year. I wish you all the best in your future travels!

We recently did this tour and it exceeded all our expectations, from the time we were picked up to the very end. It was not at all difficcult, even in deep snow, (thanks to boots and clothes provided) we meandered our way through pristine white powder snow amongst the tall pine, spruce and birch trees. Coming from Australia this was not like anything we had seen or experienced before. Being a photographic tour there were plenty of opportunities to take photos and even get help. The serenity and peace was majestic. Away from the crowds with just 7 in the tour it was the best way to fill a day in Rovaniemi.
Beyond Arctic were so helpful and responsive booking this and Discover the Northern Lights tour before we left home. They run very professional and organised tours that cannot be faulted. I highly recommend the company and the tours.

We’ve made the Korouma Frozen Waterfalls tour. The experience was really authentic! Our guide, Braulio, was prepared, kind, a very good guide. The tour was a walk about 7 km around the frozen waterfalls, the panorama was great. A suggest this experience!

We had the opportunity to join a team for a daily walk to korouma falls, everything was perfect i strongly suggest to attend this tour.

Braulio, our guide, is really kind and prepared, he drove us to the location and gave everyone who need useful advice about exposition, composition and photo tricks. He spoke a very good english, making every member of the team comfortable and able to understand every single word. Really kind, always ready to take picture of you with his or your personal camera as to spot best place to shot.

Definitely a great experience, we walk for 6 km more or less with no rush, we stopped every time we want to get pictures, we all felt relaxed enjoying the beauty of lapland nature.

Beyond artict can provide every clothes you need, you'll be warm in any condition from boots to head.

So, well done Braulio, it was really a pleasure to share this experience toghether, go on this way, i really appreciate this tour and i strongly suggest to everyone (even with children)

2 of us went on the wilderness photography tour with Juho, booked through Wildnordic, on 2 Nov and the tour was amazing. Juho was a great guide and a fantastic photographer who took some amazing pictures of us and the scenery. Juho makes the best barbeque flat bread ever. The toast with sausages and hot berry juice gave the hike an even better experience. Would like to add that equipments and attires provided were as good as new and worked amazingly. You wouldnt feel cold in those at all. If you want a very cosy and less commercialised tour, beyond artic is the way to go. we tried a few other tours but this one was one of the best we got in Rovaniemi.

Thank you for the review! As said main part of these wilderness tours are to enjoy wonderful scenery and take awesome pictures. It´s also good to stop for a while and have a proper lunch between hikes! Most pleasant to hear you liked the tour. Always a pleasure to take guests to enjoy pure Lapish nature. :) All the best in the future!

I would like to say massive thank you to you guys. We went for 2 trips, Northern Lights and Into the wild trip to see the Lapish nature.
Both trips were fantastic, starting from the tour guides who are so nice. They make you feel so welcomed and be part of the team.
The huge advantage is that groups are small, and you take people as far as possible to make sure they will get the best experience ever.
On our Northern Light trip we went almost 100km up north from Rovaniemi, we stopped in 3 places, and finally in the 3rd place we have seen an amazing dance of aurora on the sky! I have never seen anything like this and I will recommend you to every single person who will come to Lapland for holiday. Thank you!
I want to add, dont worry if you dont have any camera with you, tour guides will take the pictures and send it to you for free.

If you are looking for a real true experience, dont even bother with the main tours companies in the cities, who take as much people as possible, take you to the one place and if you lucky you will see anything. Beyond Artic do their best to find the perfect spot and you you wont regret it!

Markus our guide also uses the Sony DSLR camera as we did which is very helpful. Gentle hike up the hill and climbed up a viewing hut where we had wide views of the land. Many photographic hotspots.

At the end of the hike, Markus set up the fire at the BBQ site and thats where we had our lunch. Very nice to have hot foods and drinks when the weather is zero degrees.
